The hose being rolled was rubber lined, not modern vulcanised hose, it would have had to be hung up to dry on station on return from the shout, hence the make up not being that brilliant
Yes they had proto oxygen B.A. sets on the appliances, visible at 0.52 if you look. They were not the easiest of sets to service after an incident and were only used if there was no option, say for example, inside a building during search and rescue for persons reported etc. Back then, firemen were known as smoke eaters and you can clearly see why in these scenes.
What a treat to see this. Served on the blues at A30 Edgware Road, my old guvnor Graham White arriving on A30's Pump Escape.
Thanks for sharing . Also former A21 red and blue watch
yup, served at A29 in 1969 with at least three of the guys on this vid, the machines are AEC Regent 111's
It's like London burning but irl in the 60s
The 1st away machine the PE in this video is a Dennis F10, the 1st diesel Dennis's followed by the AEC Regent 111 P.
A real sense of urgency with this emergency driving shown here. I don't suppose some of it is sped up for effect?

Not the best at rolling hose were they! And did they not have BA back in those days?

Yes they had Breathing Apparatus (BA), albeit an early version.
