Splendid! One of the best sailing vid's I've seen (watched about 5000 in 7 yrs)! It is really obvious how both boats have their advantages in different wind strength. And when you shoot each other in a similar style and edit it together it becomes sailing magic music. Both yours humour and smiles are like spice in this several dishes repast. Very tranquil and fitting editing tempo as well which probably mirrors your personalities. True sailing on a stunning day! Have you discussed to sell both boats and buy a proper cat ? You can still live in, and occupy one hull each, and then share the watches. I mean not sharing but schedule. ☝ You can get both easier sailing in light winds and durable and fast sailing for really strong forces. Without needing to start an engine or two. 😉

True words at least for the 35-45“ segment. BE FREE is pretty heavy for being a modern production yacht and needs lots of wind. But when she first starts sailing she goes fast. So much fun to have such well matched boats sailing in ideal conditions, nice wind and no waves. There is always a race when two or more boats are going the same direction, even if only the faster boat views it as a race. It only takes a day like that to make you forget all the miserable sailing days.

How about those little kids growing up on a SV, how cool is that? These little Tiki Bars/Cafe's are so freaking interesting, makes ya feel like there is no 'bad' as exists in the US today. I think the Kylie is a bad ass sailor. Such serenity with these two SVs sailing together. What is your communication range? Hanging until your next video, makes it more exciting your sailing with Kylie's SV. You both look so happy with the situation, whatever that is. Fair winds.
Amazing right? 5 years and already knows his knots and the older brothers as well as fishing and living life like this. We can communicate via VHF (15-20NM range) or cellphone when close to shore. Otherwise we do have satellite systems as well. All the best 🍻
It’s more and more common that some nice anchorage is defined as national park and then they charge you money for staying. Even charging for snorkelling fee without caring about speed boats passing your transom with only a meter... But you don’t wanna start arguing with locals. After all your a guest in their country but sharing this story could address something... at least that’s my hopes.

I wonder what is a good ratio for a monohull to be able to handle both light and heavy wind while being comfortable. Is there a way to quantify this? How should one look into this equation and decide?
Good question and I dont have any qualified answer to this. However my boat is somewhere in the middle as she handles strong winds better and sails fast. In light winds she still sails okay but compared to boats rigged for sailing hull speed below 17-18 kts BE FREE is to heavy. That’s why I bought her being fast and comfortable in 20+ kts All the best 🍻

I am 70 years old. I am divorced, and since then I have had only ONE chance with somebody who was completely in tune with who I am, with what I do. I blew it. Don't know crap about sailing, just know a tad about humans. You two were destined to meet. Do something with it.

Most/many modern production boats are designed for 7-12 knots of wind under full sail. Which I agree with you isn’t much of a wind at all

How come you are paying to anchor? What do you get for your 35-55 ec? Do you get trouble from the hustlers if you refuse to pay?
