- From February 26, 1997: Ellen Degeneres introduces a dual performance of the Broadway hit musicals Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk and Riverdance.
Best performance I have ever seen, anywhere!
This 90's seems like one of the last decades to give tap dancing a platform on award shows.
Man I wish they would revive "Bring in Da Noise Bring in Da Funk". It was an amazing journey of Being Black in America told through Tap
they really should shoot it on tape or do a movie version or something so it can be mass distributed to the community
I agree, I saw the show six times on Broadway and I was an Off-Broadway performer at the time and each time I saw it I was amazed. I kept thinking that is what it means to be a superstar talent at something!
I saw Riverdance in London in the early 90's, and I cried with joy. Still get tears in my eyes when I watch video.
I was looking for this one!! unforgettable performance, thank you for sharing this!!!
Me too! I remember how touched I was when I saw this on time.
I were 17, and that show still in my mind!! Awesome
Wow, that whole performance gave me the chills❤❤❤
Fantastic performances!! Broadway's Finest!! 💘 👑 Artistic.Royalty!! 💃
This isn't the TONY Awards of 1997, but this is really a good Grammys performance of seeing both Bring in Da' Noise, bring in da' Funk and Riverdance all at once. : )
Nice pair, Ellen and the producers plus crew of the Grammy Awards.
This video is a.great.mixture of both of my cultures: African-American & Iriah; thank you for posting this video!! So appreciate it!! 💘 💃 😍
07:30, phew, thank God Colin saved his fall there.
Wow, I've had this recording for over 20 years, and I never noticed that.
It must've been a slippery floor. They were actually concerned about the floor also being too slippery when they did this the very first time at the Pointe Theater in Dublin at Eurovision in the 90's.
@@sallyavantmusic it looks to me like when he was going for the front click his left ankle rolled, there was something left on the stage as something black slid from under his foot, I had thought it was the lines on the stage at first, then I saw it move after he landed on it.
That's their memorable highlight of their greatest moments ever. And they won the first award at the prestigious Grammys.
Thank you so much for finally posting this! I’ve been looking for it for a while. One of my fave Grammy performances!
Wow that was magical
My childhood
Eileen was part of the original interval act. What an honor it must've been to replace Butler
I remember watching this when it happened. I'm half irish & MAD respect for Dunne but Glover had him for breakfast, lunch, dinner & a midnight snack
Gee I wonder why you would say that. What could it be about you that makes you have such a terrible biased opinion???
I actualy have this on vhs in my mama basement somewhere
Jean Butler had a very pretty understudy.
Who was the female lead dancer in this performance?
jean butler
Wow!
Not Jean Butler, she is taller and different style..this is her understudy Eileen Martin
good to know thank you

Trading Taps.
Miss martin replaced jean Butler when she left the show.
Ehh the sound....
River dancing is so boring 🙄 After Savion I was like why am I still watching this 😂
The river dancers should have gone on first .
Oh my God, you have to be kidding. He came out and flailed around like he had been chased or something. It was embarrassing. It certainly wasn't dancing. But I think we understand why you hate the Riverdance dancers & slobber over Glover. Identity dancing politics
I hate this.
Why?
@@MrCvjalexander I just hate the late 90's trend of loud dancing/noise performance. Also Irish dancing is the corniest thing.
@@spectronaut420 the drumming/dancing stage productions of the 90s were QUICKLY dated. They became dated more quickly than buzzwords like 'woke.' But, for all you kids out there, drumming and dancing are still cool
@@spectronaut420 for you perhaps, but Irish dance is a hell of a lot more better and athletic, majestic dance form than modern dancing ever, plus it has worldwide fans....
😂
