You know what I get out of this channel? Nostalgia. A reminder not only of simpler times but to see how many other people shared a passion for car audio in the 90's, and a validation - or disqualification - of certain products being high or low quality.
I can't do much with the information itself, but it's good to reminisce, and that'll do.
    That'll do, Big D. That'll do.🔈🔉🔊

I would say that the golden era of car audio is now. So easy to make noise now for cheap it doesn't make sense.

Learnin me up on this brands history really threw me back by what I discovered! Soundstream is the FIRST US based brand to develop professional digital recording gear as well as being responsible for the first digital recordings, pre-dating the advent of the CD! Top it all off, Soundstream amps from early on were designed by the GREAT Nelson Pass! His current Pass Labs/First Watt home HiFi amps cost top dollar, yet he also posts his circuit designs for free, sells DIY amp kits, and will assist you personally in building them via his message board. The man is a superhero of audio!

I had quite a few Volvo 240's in the past. My first "system" I threw some 10's in my hi fi speakers and tossed those in the back of an 85 240 with a 5 speed. The large cabinets made it bang pretty good, everyone always loved it.

Soundstream was the best of the best in the year's of 1995 to 1999. I adore the soundstream class a 10.0 , I've heard that pushing 3 of those spl but 12's. My uncle won 1st place with that soundstream reference "cheater" class a 10.0 amplifier, pushing 1000 watt's in a little hatchback sponsored by the store who sold him the equipment, sound mart in Spokane WA 1999. Awesome times that I cherish and will never forget. I wish they were as good as they used to be, unfortunately they've fallen from that mountain top.

Amazing subwoofer, incredible that both are still in mint condition! Well preserved!
The 90s were a great time for audio equipment. Sound quality was amazing but so was power overall for the time with some Class AB amps maxing out at 400-800+ watts. These days the sound quality of most amplifiers home or car isnt nearly as good as the 80s and 90s Class AB amps. They do still make Class AB amps based on those vintage amps but the original amps from back in the day are better for sure in sound quality. They sure dont make audio equipment like they used to...

I suspect these are rebranded 1st gen Kicker Solobarics with a different dust cap/basket paint. If memory serves my correctly, the specs are incredibly close to the Kickers as is the basket/magnet/pole piece. Those were my favorite subs for many years. Had a pair on a PPI Art a600.2 in a foxbody Mustang that sounded phenomenal.

One of my best systems was a Soundstream Rubi 1002 driving an SPL 15 and a Rubi 604 driving MB Quart components in front and Quarts co ax in the rear of my 1992Honda Prelude SI....the charging system was not up to the 1600 watts class A/B...the lights would dim. So, I replaced the SS amps with the newly introduced JL500/5...it was very disappointing ...the good news, I kept the Soundstreams. They are in perfect condition and I will one day use them...The JL was sold with the Honda...Korean pos...I have not bought JL since

These subs did quite a bit more than i expected in a tiny sealed box they just took wattage i think i ran about 300 rms to 2 12 inch and they was plenty for bass. I had a Phoenix gold amp hooked up to these back then my next subs was 2 12 in fosgate punch XLC .

Wow those bring back memories those use to Uber popular along with the kicker comp K and my favorite from that era was the Ppi flat subs…..the sensitivity on subs from the 90s was what made them get down on what would be considered extremely low power by today’s standards but it didn’t take 2000 watts per sub to get them moving 75 rms to each sub had your car sounding pretty good….ive tried telling that to people in audio nowadays and get the craziest looks…..great video!!
