the parallels between Aussie and California fishing are crazy. Obviously the Kingfish/yellowtail but also the same elusiveness and mythical status of Corvina, White Seabass and Jewfish/Mulloway which are all very similar species with similar behaviors.
@@benradcliffe6618 California is 4,089.56 kms from the equator (North) and sydney is 3,763 kms from it, (South) Their temps and climates are ridiculously similar, im speaking as someone who lives in sydney who visitied califronia maybe 3 weeks ago lol thats not where it ends
Good to see you had a great fishing trip to Sydney! Next time you visit you should try the Northern Beaches and mid north coast. You’d be blown away by the quality of fish 🤯
@scottfsh 100% a yellowfin, they spawn down qt the mouths of estuaries and are often caught on beaches and rocky headlands around the beach. Your one is dark which means it's been spending its time up the river in the brackish water, and has likely just come down to the salt to spawn (you could see him leaking while you were handling him). Often the ones on the beach are extremely light in colour, and to me taste better. The darker river fish tend to have a muddier sort of taste to them. Bream are also an extremely slow growing fish, so the one you caught may well have been over 15 years old. End of bream facts session 😂
Amazing video! I love your videos. On 7:45 what rod are you using? I am getting a Daiwa pro Rex 400 tw soon and i wanted to pair it with a rod like that.
I’ve been there thousands of times, I’m no fisher I just do it for fun when I’m out but I go there for the 4wding. Nothing better then setting up the fourby and having a drink and a cast or two.
You should go port kembla breakwall, i literally caught a 50cm bonito yesterday and hooked on to a 90cm kingfish last year. Its like 1 hour south of sydney. Massive fish caught off it every day.
@scottfsh theres kingfish hookups almost everyday and the last time i went a group of guys caught like 7 bonito within like 10 minutes and i managed to land a 2kg bonito.
Dude i’m from the illawarra area and it’s so sick to see videos of people fishing in places i’ve fished before and the marina breakwall on shell cove is such a great spot the left longer one is good for kingies bonito and salmon
and I have a question for you when you found that shimano combo and got it replaced how did you do it because i found a combo pretty affected by the water and want to do the same
@@scottfsh mate it’s fantastic, it honestly rivals tuna sashimi. Totally up to you if you even want to season it and dish it up. You’ll have to try some next time mate. Next time I get one I’ll make some sashimi and send it to your socials 🤙🏼
@ I was in Melbourne most of the time. Caught big bluefin in the summer as well as pinkies and estuary perch and one Mulloway I had to grind for days for. Traveled up to Queensland and caught barramundi as well.
can you please tell me all these spots because i want to go fishing with my dad and i havnt caught a fish in a while and i see that you catching alot fish
Next time u come back to Sydney try out fishing with unweighted (just a hook) off the piers and light line it entices pelagics to bite because of the natural fall
@ many people at pier run 10lb Leader but also would recommend getting yourself a lighter spin rod. It makes casting out those unweighted baits easier and makes the fight so much more fun, like a 2-4 kg rod and a 2500 sized reel. So many kings, bonito and big trevs Lot have been caught on those setups such as myself
Why not try for land based GT fishing if you’re going to go to the best place on the planet for fishing? Kinda crazy to go all the way to Australia and basically do micro fishing.
Get onto that squid brother, kingfish lollipops! Also if you can get your hands on a cuttlefish tentacle you’ll catch many kings. Sydney is a hard slog these days, very overfished 👍🏻
@ try and get on a boat and hit up any divers you see, you never know your luck mate 👍🏻 Raptor charters does great kingfish trips, knows where all the bait grounds are etc Good content anyway brother, welcome back here any time 👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah honestly. It’s like the same species they just grew different habits. Super interesting
More close is teraglin to white seabass, same genus with zipper belly. Geelbek of south Africa are also there.
It's all Pacific ocean, And that's about where it ends

Thanks homie! It’s a turner Californian 8’6” rated 15-40. I have the 12-30 as well.
You should go to two rocks in Australia
I’ve been there thousands of times, I’m no fisher I just do it for fun when I’m out but I go there for the 4wding. Nothing better then setting up the fourby and having a drink and a cast or two.
Looks awesome, I think I might have to🤙

The second spot was the beach in Kiama. And then Shellharbour
nice vid, next time you should head about an hour north to the Hawkesbury river
Definitely want to check it out. I heard there’s lots of jewies up there
Tommy is objectively the best fisherman of all
False
Nah bowlys fishing is better and ybs youngbloods

Oh interesting, appreciate that. Will definitely check it out next time 🤙

For sure! A lot of people have been telling me to check it out. Will definitely give it a shot next time - what do you throw out there?
@ Live yakkas or slimies are really good or pilchards and metal lures
and I have a question for you when you found that shimano combo and got it replaced how did you do it because i found a combo pretty affected by the water and want to do the same
Nice catch. Was the king caught at long reef any chance?
It was caught off the heads in Kiama!
Awesome.

Long time fisherman told me that rocks don't bite very hard yet put up a good fight.
Couldn’t be more right 😂
Next time in Australia try Melbourne spots
That would be sweet. What’s out there?
What rod were you using for the yellowtail?
what bait did you guys use btw great video
Thanks homie! Mainly chunk of pilchard and prawn the whole trip
Hell ya bro I am from sd but spent 4 months fishing in aus last year, so epic
Nice man! How’d you do?
@ I was in Melbourne most of the time. Caught big bluefin in the summer as well as pinkies and estuary perch and one Mulloway I had to grind for days for. Traveled up to Queensland and caught barramundi as well.
come to streaky bay australia south australia you can catch 2 kilo flatheads and lots of other fish
Just checked it out, looks awesome. Would love to make a trip down there, what lures do you throw?
Are Bonita fish big?
Trophy fish some would call them
What do you use to do it? Calamari?
Live squid!
There’s no way that bottle was 95 years old ! 😂
Right 😂
One day I’ll be able to fish with you.
For harbour kingfish try putting a live squid under a balloon about 2.5 m off the balloon and let it drift around
Oh that sounds effective. Will have to give that a shot 🤙
Try Lake Macquarie fishing
Looks awesome, will definitely have to check it out
This is nice I’m an hour north of there
Nice! How is it up there?
can you please tell me all these spots because i want to go fishing with my dad and i havnt caught a fish in a while and i see that you catching alot fish
The main spot we fished were the Sydney harbor piers. That’s usually the most consistent
@@scottfsh yeah ive gone there once and caught nothing waht about the other spots if you can say them
Scott, do you ever catch cool fish, or do you just let your friends catch them for you.
The jakker was pretty cool

Mainly sticking around Syd for this one. I’m looking at doing somewhere up north next!
Where is the spot at 12:15?
I don’t know the name but it’s right by the harbor bridge 🤙
It’s Morella Road Reserve
Clifton gardens bro
Underrated

Where are all these spots bro
Try Western Australia
Perth is on the hit list!
Are you coming to w.a
Perth is on the hit list!

I enjoy urban fishing for some reason. Will definitely head up north at some point 🤙
there needs license to fishing at Sydney?
Yes, license required 🤙
Get onto that squid brother, kingfish lollipops! Also if you can get your hands on a cuttlefish tentacle you’ll catch many kings. Sydney is a hard slog these days, very overfished 👍🏻
Absolutely! Tried once for cuttlefish but couldn’t get any. And yeah it’s definitely challenging but that’s what makes it fun 🤙
@ try and get on a boat and hit up any divers you see, you never know your luck mate 👍🏻
Raptor charters does great kingfish trips, knows where all the bait grounds are etc
Good content anyway brother, welcome back here any time 👍🏻👍🏻
your rod would be gone if kingy bro :) nice jewy anway.
Hahaha thanks man 🙌
i live in jamberoo which is 10 minets away from kiama
Nice!! 🤙
and great vid
NOT an eastern toady.maybe a stargazer
Hope you can make your way to the central coast mate place called the entrance have been smashing big dew fish on the flats
That would be awesome! I’m yet to do any flats fishing out here but it looks crazy
Remember while your here get a td black you cant get them in the states some of the best rods ever made
My mates had a couple - super solid. I just rarely fish spinning rods lol
21:17 "could be venomous" 😂 you never really know in australia do you
Exactly 😂
Stonefish not toadfish, pr dog fish depending on who you ask.
Came to Tasmania
You’re Fishing on the wrong side of the bike wall fish on the other side of beach roads at shell cove marina
I never catch fish on the long jetty lol. What do you throw out there?
broo how do I like rig the pilgrim it just keeps on falling off
Do you also know what lures to use in the harbour?
Try to get fresh pillies. After they’re frozen they fall off super easily!
I like jigs like shimano coltsnipers and soft plastic flukes. It really depends on the conditions but those are my go-to’s
that is a black bream
Tremendous
Thanks homie
can we get the names of the spots plz
Which one?
Pretty sure with the new laws you have to wear a life jacket rock fishing now just saying. But love your vids good stuff
Oh interesting, I thought it was certain zones. Thanks for letting me know 🤙
walla cuz
Don't put your thumb in the mouth of a flathead. They will slice you open.

I FISH AT THE FIRST SPOT BEFORE
How’d you do?
