    Indigenous political prisoner Leonard Peltier is coming home after nearly half a century behind bars. Just minutes before leaving office, former President Joe Biden granted Peltier clemency and ordered his release from prison to serve the remainder of his life sentence in home confinement. In a statement, Peltier said, "It's finally over - I'm going home. I want to show the world I'm a good person with a good heart. I want to help the people, just like my grandmother taught me." Biden's historic decision came after mounting calls by tribal leaders and supporters, and a community-led campaign that fought for Peltier's freedom for decades. We speak with the NDN Collective's Nick Tilsen, who just visited Leonard Peltier in prison after news of his sentence commutation, about fighting for Peltier's freedom, his health and Trump's executive orders attacking environmental rights and Indigenous sovereignty. "Indigenous people, we're going to be on the frontlines fighting this administration."

    Something to be grateful for. So many people have him in our hearts.
    Should have been an immediate pardon with no strings attached. He IS a good man, made to suffer for the evil in other men's minds.

    Signed petition for his release about 45! years ago😵‍💫 while working grassroots on Native issues in Arizona. However happy this is, it much more sad😔 it ever happened. It did give his people something to rally around, so that’s something. Happy Biden finally did the right thing. I’m 81 now.

      Unless you're an eye witness, you don't know.
      I learned that from my pastor's wife many years ago, she said,
      "If you weren't there, if you didn't see, then you don't know."
      I never forgot that. I have since conducted my life with that wisdom and truth.

      I didn't see or have first hand knowledge of serial killer Ted Bundy's killings but just like LP there was EVIDENCE.

    • @smartin1720
      @smartin1720 9 днів тому

      You mention evidence?
      Even Evan Hultman, the prosecutor at the time, said later that there was no evidence tying Peltier to the crime.
      There were no eyewitnesses.
      The gun Peltier owned didn't match the gun fired at the agents.
      You must know by now America is famous for sending innocent men to prison and even sending innocent people to their death.
      With these cases left in the hands of judges, juries, aka human beings, which are subject to error nobody's perfect and God said, "You can't expect the justice system to work when it's run by sinners."
      Only God judges righteously.
      As Richard Dawkins, the atheist, said, "The world has no shortage of liars."
      And i'm sure there were plenty of liars involved in Peltiers case

After I heard of Biden leaving office and still no word of our brother’s release I grew so angry (reflecting on both Clinton and Obama’s unwillingness to pardon). Filled with deep sorrow, I found this video and my sadness turned to joy as my spirit united with every other soul that has been praying and anxiously waiting for this day. How can I join with everyone else to pay for any needs our brother has? I want to help. Love to all who have worked and didn’t give up hope to bring Leonard home. ❤

    I was avoiding the Inauguration so l missed hearing that Leonard was released. I wrote a critical comment about Pres Biden not pardoning him and got a response that he had done so in last minutes of his Presidency. It was the right thing to do and l'm glad. The death of two young FBI agents fifty years ago was tragic and may God rest their souls. I believe this closure is good for everyone. I wish Leonard could be released before 2/18 to seek medical care.Thank you President Biden.

    • @Brembelia
      @Brembelia 8 днів тому +5

      Those two agents that perished went onto sovereign tribal lands with loaded weapons, ignoring tribal jurisdiction, and looking to start trouble. The FBI has consistently failed to accept responsibility for a self-inflicted wound via an arrogant handling of the initial situation.
      The instant scenario was more about racism and White supremacy than anything else. And because the FBI could not locate the actual shooter, they grabbed Leonard just to make a point.
      That whole situation was badly handled; more like the wild west over sincere diplomacy.
      It's a relief that Leonard is finally going home.

Over 22 federal judges have reviewed evidence & everything else & ALL agreed he's QUILTY!!! None of you brainwashed people have read the hundreds of pages of "overwhelming" evidence!!! He DESERVES to spend TWO lifetimes in prison, which is what he received!!! The 2 agents MURDERED in cold blood don't get to breathe fresh air & NEITHER should he!!!!!

    I protested on his behalf while Obama was in office, also wrote many letters. I protested at an Obama event, and after that it was hell. I kept getting pulled over, had my vehicle broken into, had my accounts hacked, and kept getting fired from jobs related to repeatedly being put in jail for a DUI charge that was dismissed 3 times. It set my life back about 15 years.
    The government was serious about keeping him quiet and locked up.

      @ReneeOfTheFae I don't think it made a single bit of difference. Had I known how much of a pain it would be, I would've tried different tactics to raise attention to his imprisonment.
      My point is mainly that I am surprised he got a release despite how hard the federal government worked to keep him locked up and to derail anyone involved with AIM and activism.
      I experienced firsthand what we were up against, so I am surprised he was let out. I can only assume it's due to his health since the release is conditional and not a pardon.

They serve as enforcers for the oligarchy, to oppress righteous leftist movements, and always have, from mid-20th Century socialists and communists, to people of Islamic faith after 9/11, and now pro-Palestinian rights activists.
