Cool video, my youngest son uses my mk1 system, simple, bombproof system ,I use the crusader mug with nalgene bottle that fits in it, heavy cover lid, and meths system, tbf, I rotate my cook kits alot, (not that I'm a cooker junkie or anything lol), informative video indeed, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
Hey, you can get all the component's separately. This is the Mk1 the Mk2 is a bit bigger, Recently I've found that I'm using this kit more and more just because I can get the cookset, bottle, fuel and brew kit all 8n an outside pouch, which means when I stop for a brew I don't have to gonrouting around in my pack. It's simple and there is nothing to go wrong. Thanks for watching Atb G🐾
Nice one, thanks for sharing. I've got the mk1 crusader Cup with the mk2 stove. It's ok and good that you can use it with the Trangia burner, but the mk2 stove doesn't nest very well (I've tried it with the mk2 cup too). I might have to try the mk1 stove as I've seen some people use a home made meths burner with it (a shoe polish tin fits nicely). 👍
Hi Barmey, I have the Mk2 as well and it's great but it's just to tall when it's all stacked up. The Mk1 Cup doesn't nest very well on the Mk2 cooker so I've just reverted back to the Mk1. Thanks for watching Atb G🐾
I've had one of them for years, maybe about 20? Anyway, I made a penny meths stove that fits into the well, and a lid from thin aluminium that is safe to use on a fire. It's a great little brew kit, and it's fed and watered me on many a trip to the woods.
These kits are hard to find in America. I was lucky and grabbed one years ago. I have both the Mark I and Mark II. Although the Mark II has some capacity and weight advantages I always seem to gravitate towards the original.
Great little look at a great little bit of kit there. Had my eye on one of these for a while and you answered my only question about it, " does it fit a trangia?" Such a shame it doesn't but I suppose it does what it does. Still might get it . Eady G 👍
Hey, if you go for the Mk2 (which has a taller cooker and bigger mug) then that will take a spirit burner. Or what you can do is get some fire rope (the type that goes round the inside of a door on a wood burning stove) and pack it tightly into the circular well and then soak that it Bio Ethanol or Meths. Tha ks for watching Atb G🐾
Hello from Vorarlberg Austria 🇦🇹 I happen to have both sets 😅 the MK1 and MK2 but yours doesn't seem to have the signature plastic mug. 🤔 I think the MK1 is perfect for two people or making a cup of tea and a dehydrated meal 😁 I did a comparison myself but sadly in German but I can recommend both sets 😊 I however prefer the MK1 as it is stainless steel 😅 Kind regards Leopold 🤗
I've been looking at this cookset several times, but haven't bought it yet. I use a trangia alcohol burner, or wood in a Bushbox LF, but your video really inspired me to try solid fuel for smaller hikes where you just need to boil some water. Which fuel works for you better: the Esbit hexamine tabs, or this alcohol gel that you showed in the video? This seems to burn cleaner than the Esbit, but I could be wrong...
Hi Gábor, the Fire Dragon gel does burn cleaner and burn for approx 5mins but is expensive and you do have packaging that you have to take away. The old fashioned Hexamine blocks burn for longer and don't have any individual packaging to take away so may work better. Here is a link to a vid that looks at all the different solid fuels. Hey Des, just packing the same kit for a 20 miler tomorrow! I love the simplicity and the fact it doesn't sound like an F15 taking off when you light it! Thanks for watching Atb G🐾
Ive just been using meths in this cooker without a trangia or fire rope or anything. Is that a no no?? I've found that filling the little cup in the base will happily boil a full 750ml pot of water.... which is all I want really!?
That is super handy and SO compact! Another great video!
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! And congrats on your channel its absolutely blown up!!! Atb G🐾
I have BCB Crusader MK 1 and a MK 2 they work very well some days i take the MK 1 or the MK 2

Same, I have loads cookers and cook systems but seem to always revert to twig stoves or alcohol stoves or the Crusader.
I've got the mug but not the other components, it's the first time I've actually seen this set in use, looked pretty handy, great vid, cheers.

Love my mk 1 Osprey, keep returning to it for its robust size and simplicity. Nice one mate. Harry

I got myself a Jolmo Lander canteen set. I’ve yet to make a hot drink with it, but have used it on my hikes. Stay safe atb 👍🦊

@@bravogolfoscar do you think the cooker from the MK2 is a good option for people starting in the segment? 🤔
I think its personal preference, the mk2 shields the wind better than the mk1 I think?

@@bravogolfoscar Good stuff 👌
Yeah gas or gaz stoves or the high pressured stoves tend to sound rather loud don't they 👍
Have on your 20 miler
Great video mate, as always

The mk1 stove will take a trangia gel burner which is good any kind of gel or block fuel and keeps your stove clean
Hi Philip, thanks for that! Atb G🐾
Good review G!
Thanks! Atb G🐾
