Yeah, I tweaked the mod settings in the river mod. I changed river speed to 1 so that I could sail/row both down and up river. It's not completely realistic (because there are a lot of rivers IRL that can't be sailed up due to the current, and local wind speeds aren't strong enough to propel the boat), but it makes for a more fun game.
I definitely need to tone it down from rocket ship speed. :)
I believe for the sail, you use space to lower the sail (ctrl to raise, and it's two taps for the sail to visually change). Shift exits the boat. Not sure if that's what you're using. I've also found tacking a lot easier when trimming the sail with W and S while holding the oar. The controls on the mod page aren't very explicit about what they do but sailing's a lot easier for me now.

It looks like there's been an update. It used to be sprint and sneak for the sail. The sail would lower, but it would also kick you off.
Didn't it say in the mod description that you could use flax oil instead of fat for tanning, or is it my turn to have a senior moment? 😀
You can use oil for a lot of things, but you need a fruit press to make it. The fruit press requires tech beyond copper to build.
@@KerboOnYT The fruit press doesn't require anything past copper, the ingot, hammer, and chisel in the recipe can all be copper, and beyond those it's just boards, fat, and resin. Admittedly making flax oil requires a ton of flax, if I recall a bucket worth takes like two stacks or something like that. You can also get oil out of some other things as well, like soy beans, though
I bought vintage story so long ago that IDK what email is attached to. But I had high hopes for it. I do wonder if it has gotten better since then.
