The final cut is one of my favourite album's.
    Not just out of Floyd.
I can't understand why people would not like it.
Unless they don't understand the song's meaning.
I hear morons call them far right
    WTF
But everything is far right or racist ect.
When really their they are the .fascists.
    Like antifa or BLM.
Their name is a shut down excuses.
    The bit about
Don't blow holes in bands man by remote control.
    It's about the IRA attacks.
In Hyde park and regents bombing on the 20th July in 1982.
    What murdered 4 soldiers and 7 horse's.
    They .
Altogether 11 dead and 51 injured.
    This song's personal to myself.
This was an attack against the band.
    What surprised me back then.
Was the pro republicans I had heard from.
    Was about the horse's.
    I am an animal lover.
    But the father's and son's.
    That posts their life'.
Not including the people who lost their arms and legs.
    Sacred for life.
Younger people think the troubles was something good.
Over 3000 people killed mostly Innocent civilians.
    Of all religions.
I pray that we never have to return to it.
But the good Friday agreement has not been pushed this much.
Thanks to a border down the Irish sea.
They were no winner's everyone lost.
The sax on this album I lo e.
Wish you were here, the wall
and dark side of the moon.
Will be probably most people best Floyd album.
But you can like them all the same.
Floyd has had different lead members at different time's.
Their song's are written by the whole lot.
    It's normally Gilmore and Walter's.
2 of the best performer's of all time.
If you have just found pink Floyd for the 1st time.
You have a lot of great music coming your way.
Also division bells a great album.
But people say they don't like.
    Why?
You can't say pink Floyd album's are mostly the same.
    Like so many others.
But they have a bit of everything rock blues.
    Love your reaction.
    You looked like WTF..
    On the now in colour.
    Until you heard.
Did they expect us to treat them with any regrets.
I think the best verse of that song.
    New subscriber keep it real.

Great reaction, man! I absolutely love ”the Final Cut”. Pink Floyd, is something you feel, more than hear and it becomes very clear when I see your reactions. Another great one from that album is ”two suns in the sunset”. Don’t miss out on that one.

For an album that David Gilmour pretty much didn't even want any part of due to Roger taking total control of, he put out some killer guitar solos on it.

This song is a tribute to his father, Eric Fletcher Waters, who died in WWII when Roger was an infant. It took him 40 years to find out what actually happened and there's a video to this song that pays tribute to his father and the other members of his squad.

The list of names Waters recites near the beginning of the song are some of the world leaders who are around in the early 80s when this album was released. Obviously Roger has no use for them. He imagines rounding them all up and putting them safely away in a Home somewhere where they can do no more harm in the world in terms of petty wars and killings. The Home is named after his dad Eric Fletcher Waters who was killed in World War II. "The Final Solution" he mentions at the very end is of course the code name used by Germany for the wholesale slaughter of roughly 6 million Jews during the war that took his dad. Roger imagines applying a similar "solution" to all the "tyrants and kings" he has locked away in his imagined Home. Rough stuff.
PS. I believe the word you were searching for was Emotional. Few people in popular music could convey it like Roger Waters. The sarcasm anger and desperation he was able to convey in his vocals were almost operatic in nature. People either loved it or hated it. I personally loved it.

New time viewer. Stumbled onto you, because no one has done a reaction to this Album, as far as I know.
This is an anti-war album, with Rogers dad as a focal point, who died in WW2. The band had to choose between The Final Cut and Pro's and Cons of Hitchhiking. They chose this one as their final album together, and Roger the did Pro's solo.
This is a sleeper album, unfortunately. I think it's great, being a vet. If you want to check out another rare great. Radio KAOS, by Roger. But... It's another concept album, which needs to be heard from start to finish, not by individual song (story).
Love your accent and your enthusiasm. Off to check more of your stuffs. 🙂

Absolutely love the Final Cut. Seriously underrated due the falling out between Roger and Dave at the time, and subsequently Roger practically making the album himself. Dave's input was minimal. Those that leaned towards Dave's side will never accept how good this album really is.

welcome Wally to the wonderful world of Pink Floyd , loved your reaction . This album was very political for the time , and Roger was voicing his disdain for England and Margret Thatcher getting involved in The Falklands war , and loosing more British soldiers lives thousands of miles from home, also references to Nazi's and Senator Joe McCarthy and the "red scare". The Pink Floyd rabbit hole is very deep , but worth the journey. I would recommend the album Wish You Were Here next or Animals next. If you like Progressive Rock , then you need to check out "RUSH" . They have a 40 plus year catalog of some of the best music and deep lyrics , time signature changes and excellent musicianship and the best drummer ever. For me its a toss up , Floyd is a 10 out of 10 and so is Rush ,both take you on a musical and lyrical journey ,and are often imitated but never duplicated .Plus if you are Italian , and Ferrari Tifosi , then you will love their song Red Barchetta. So keep up the videos and enjoy the music.

The Fletcher name came from Roger's father, Eric Fletcher Waters. The context came from the Cold War and the unrest in the Middle East and South America at the time. Nixon and McCarthy are mentioned to show that not every enemy of Communism was a white knight. Like with Rush, you can find songs from any Floyd era and you're bound to strike gold, as far as I'm concerned. Personal choices would be "Not Now John" from this album or "Astronomy Domine" from the early days.
By the way, the problems with Gilmour and Waters stemmed from Dave not being thrilled with the political slant of Roger's material (also that the songs weren't strong enough for an album),while Roger's beef was that Dave wasn't bringing in any new material of his own (a point that Gilmour later admitted was accurate).

Nick is his friend. He wouldn't fire him. Rick's firing was agreed by the band. It's all fine to blame Waters for the firing but Gilmour and Mason didn't try to stop it from happening and that speaks volumes. Rick was missing sessions, and rumoured to be doing coke.

It isn't fair to examine this work song by song. It should be looked at collectively to understand the concept. It is a concept album. It is one of the darkest works of Floyd. It is also one of their best. Suicide is always dark though.

The whole album is a kick in the teeth towards governments and leaders on how the common man was used for war, and basically left to rot when they returned home
