To understand Matthew and his talents, you truly had to watch him in Detroit. He was so special. I teared up when I saw the trade go down because I knew Detroit lost that trade. I knew stafford was a super bowl winning qb. He just needed a real franchise to prove it
For sure! I always really enjoyed watching him and Megatron in Detroit it was a shame that they could never get a good team around them
And I would also add that every true Lions fan still speaks well of Matt Stafford. He is a class act and a real human being.
The lions really didn’t lose the trade. I think they won it at face value. We have a mid quarterback and we got 2 first rounders, a third rounder for a quarterback who is getting older. He’s forever a legend in Detroit.
@@rekuz1928 first of all Goff is a bum. Mid tier QB my ass that dude is garbage. And those picks they got for Stafford will end up being late round picks. Which is why the Rams didn't mind giving them to because they plan on making deep playoff runs as long as they have Stafford. Because they were never going to get a Stafford quality of player with those picks.

Stafford played hurt alot of his career in Detroit but only missed a handfull of games. He showed his toughness early in his career when he broke his collarbone against the Bengals & went back in to throw a TD to win the game. I've been a lions fan my whole life & he's by far the best QB the lions had in my lifetime. One thing I always knew is, on Sunday when he was here was ,win or lose ,he was gonna give it his all & all the game winning drives prove that. It's so awesome not only that he got a ring but that he did it in true Stafford fashion winning 2 out of the 3 playoff games with game winning drives & the Superbowl. The fact that so many fellow lions fans were pulling for the guy speaks volumes about him on & off the field. Something I find interesting is how the curse of Bobby Layne has ties to Stafford. Layne was mad when the lions traded him to Pittsburg & said the lions wouldn't win anything for 50 years. The last year of the " curse" was the 0-16 season which got them Stafford with first pick in the draft. Stafford grew up on the same street as Layne did & went to the same high school. The first year Stafford is out of Detroit he wins the Superbowl, is that one last middle finger from Bobby Layne from the grave?

I believe he could make a case but IMO he probably could rack up some bigger numbers from here on out to solidify canton. No doubt he will be in canton tho bc he should be mastering his craft from here on out.

As a die hard Packers fan. Stafford deserved this 100% after everything he's been through in Detroit
One thing i think that gets underappreciated with Matt Stafford is his durability. Like yes he had all those injuries, but the man is a damn tank, and i might say the most durable and toughest qb out there. I mean he played with a broken hand for multiple games in a row and i think missed 8 games in 13 seasons with the lions
The greats he gets compared to, wouldn't have survived in Detroit let alone put up the numbers Stafford did. That's why it's hard to believe alot of these other guys are so elite to me. Can you imagine Stafford on some Aaron Rodgers teams? Greg Jennings James Jones Jordy Nelson and Hofers on every level of defense? What about Romo's teams in Dallas? Dez Bryant jason Witten great Oline Marion Barber/DeMarco Murry coming out the backfield? What about in New Orleans with all the nice receivers Brees has enjoyed over his career? You dont think he wins with Pat Mahomes teams in KC? He wins a couple SBs if hes on those squads. His teams were far inferior to any worthy competitors we got bullied and outcoached every game. Dude literally went 4 consecutive years without a running back topping a 100 yards.Let's not even get into the coaching consistency his competitors had but the carousel he faced every 3 years. What he accomplished in Detroit was amazing! In my eyes hes a Hofer but I'm not gonna argue with the knowledgeable football minds that may feel he has a little more to prove.

@@blueleader392 I agree...Put Mahomes on most of Matt's teams and he will not be as dynamic as he is now...hes definitely not as tough as Matt...he has race horses at every skill position and a good run game...Matt not so much

Need to have a talk with the nfl about Aaron Donald. Yall wouldn't have made it past the bucs if the nfl was consistent and fair with punishment and suspensions when it comes to assaulting other players. Funny how Brady left a Winning Super Bowl caliber team and wins with The Bucs, then Stafford leaves a losing, never made it to a Super Bowl team and wins with The Rams…both at their Home field. 😳👍
The season was rigged against the bucs. Aaron Donald never got any punishment for the cardinals game or any game he assaulted other players in. Someone paid Antonio Brown to quit the saints targeted bucs players and took out Chris godwin. The rams won the championship game against 50% of the bucs team because the other 50% was hurt or quit during the jets game. That doesn't really count as a win for Stafford when the team you played against had an arm and a leg tied behind thier back
0:30 how many playoff games was he given an honest chance to win? He was the underdog in every playoff game he played. He almost stole one from Dallas. His stats in all three were respectable and two of the three his stats were just as good as the QB he was playing against. These people kill me with this nonsense man.
Oh I forgot to mention that the one game he almost upset the cowgirls he was robbed of a chance to pull off another comeback win by the refs picking up their flag.
@@ThePrufessa , if I recall Stafford threw a TD to Calvin Johnson that got taken away because of the continuation of the catch thing the league was playing around with at the time & the refs knew they got it wrong .
@@slayerbob213 that was a regular season game against the bears. Didn't happen in the playoffs. And Stafford was not the who threw that pass. He got injured that game and Shaun Hill was playing when that happened.

I mean Shannon was picking Stafford the whole way thru the playoffs this year so evidently he realizes he misunderstood his career.
How many nfl qb records has Stafford broken? More than a few. Fastest qb to reach 20k, 30k, 40k yards passing? Sounds like HOF records to me and that's before the superbowl win.
Just 2 months ago Stafford reached 50k yards passing in 182 games, still the fastest in nfl history. How long until 60k? If he throws only 5k yards per year he'll reach that milestone in less than 2 years and still reach it faster than any other qb in nfl history.

There are only 7 other QBs in nfl history to reach 60k yards passing and they're all retired. Stafford's still got many years left in him.
And they still compare him to Brady for that HoF. Say he needs more Rings to be considered for HoF when I feel he should be considered now off of pure talent.
Assuming Stafford plays 10 more years while averaging 5k yards passing per year he'd reach well over 100,000 passing yards.
Correction: all the QBs who have surpassed 60k passing yards are retired except for the one who recently decided to unretire. Probably worried that Stafford would end up surpassing the 80k passing yards currently at most all time. Gotta pad those numbers to stay number 1, I guess.

I had hope here in detroit with Stafford. The guy is great. Then because of crappy owners and coaches people turned their backs on him. Not me. When he was traded it was bitter sweet. I told everybody now he'll win a championship next year. And i was behind him all the way. See if the crappy ass fords would spend the money and give him the guys he needed we would have won one here. Anyway all you nay sayers are not talking shit now.

I liked the rams before for one reason....Kupp...since he played here locally...but no with Stafford , they are my team. I watched him many yrs ago while following two local players who played for the Lions.

I have never had anything against Stafford. I even rooted for him up until I realized he was playing Brady in the championship game. The only reason he's a superbowl champion and the only reason this video and this header even exists is because the nfl still hasn't done shit to punish Aaron Donald for choking players. He should not have even been allowed to play in that championship game after putting both hands on the throat of that cardinals player.
