Its a good idea to trip your fingernails before forming.
It seems that forming the bottom of the holster would help it align properly when it's inserted.
I do a lot of leather work myself. You might try wet-molding after you sew or stitch the holster first. Try a solution of rubbing alcohol and water together. It will not stain or damage the leather after it dries.
That's some good advice. On this project in particular I use a white contrast Stitch. Because of that I wanted to do that last in order to keep the white Stitch as pristine as possible.
Hello, if you wet form after stamping, doesn't that soften the stamping? the reason I'm asking, is that I just got into leathercrafting. Thanks
I use a cookie sheet for the soaking
The clothes pins are likely to leave some very nasty marks in the leather..
That's definitely something to watch out for. In this case the clothes pins where just tight enough to hold the leather together but weak enough to not leave any lasting impressions. You can see how it looks starting @13:18. But you're right, anything with a particularly strong grip will leave some marks.

Hi bud, I noticed you did your carving etc then wet formed. Does wet forming effect the carving in anyway? IE do you have to be careful not to push to hard while forming? And would a vacuum bag help shape the mold? I've never seen anyone using a vacuum bag and it was just a spare of the moment thought.
Thanks for sharing, project looks great.

What about the main safety component of the holster? You didn't cover the trigger!
Haha! I totally get you. But with it being a Nerf Gun I felt it better to keep the trigger exposed. Easier to shoot at your enemies under a table ;-)
