As a middle class guy, I will never transition to EV without a battery swap. It cost me a lot to change my 2008 Hybrid battery. It’s pricey pple. Battery swap is the way of the future. Give it another 2 to 3 years from now & pple will finally realize it. By then, pple who bought into EV 5-8 yrs ago will be able to relate very well to battery degradation. Any EV company with no battery swap in the future are gonna experience massive market share decline. This is gonna happen right before us soon.
The main objective of NIO is to provide battery swapping and save time. But there would definitely be an option for charging because the swapping stations are limited compared to the charging stations. So, it's not convenient to take the option of charging stations away from the customers.
Battery swapping EVs are a little like vehicles powered by swappable butane cylinders used in some countries. The source of energy is of course different, but the concept is the same. NIO may not need fully automatic battery swapping stations. Partially manual battery swapping stations may be sufficient if the batteries are made user installable just like our old buddy batteries in ICE vehicles.
@@flujoribattery swap is the only way for me though, having gone through countless cordless drills since they were introduced, they were all discarded until Lithium ion batteries for my current 😮dewalts!
Its too expensive. And the only Company realy doing this is NIO, and look at the stock price. I cannot share all info in a youtube comment but Do a little searching.
Great point but the hidden great advantage of battery swapping is the cost of replacing a degraded or damaged battery in an EV with no battery swap capability. Could be pricey. Battery swapping = convenience but Damaged Battery replacement = $00,000 i.e thousands of dollars. - Just ask other EV owners, I won’t mention any EV company.
You said something that's not true and it makes a big difference...You said when the battery swap is done "you can get back in your vehicle"...You actually never have to get out of your vehicle...You can stay in your car the whole the time...Big difference when you think about safety...You have to get out of your car to hook the charger up and then get back out to un-hook the charger while sitting for 30-an hour in between...Would you rather have your wife if she's alone go to a swap station, never get out of her car and be in and out in 3-5 minutes or go the charger route?...Alot of charging stations are in unsafe areas with no one around and you have to stay for a very long time compared to a swap station...
NIO is the only EV company that offers battery swap and also offered excellent quality and the best Europe classifieds safety standards EV cars.
Thanjs for sharing such useful information 👍
This could really be a game changer for EVs. May even make me consider getting one!
Yes, it would be economical, eco-friendly, and perfect for use in city. Win win for everyone. Let's hope they get reliable.

Battery swapping is a great idea, but how do you ensure the quality or life of the swapped battery?
It's likely that the life/quality of the battery will be checked after each charging cycle at the swapping station.
Question: Does one have the option to charge at home or on the road by conventional charging methods?

Awesome
Thank you for your appreciation.

Thanks for the comment.

Thank you.

Well said 🙌
Battery swapping is the worst concept in the BEV space though.
Why is that @flujori?

So. instead of queuing at a charging station, you queue at a battery changing station, just not for so long.
Yes, isn't it kind of smart? Lesser wait for everyone.

Thank you for raising such serious issues. We hope that the EV geniuses look into this issue and get it resolved soon.
Allegedly, the electric motor bearings are of poor quality, and do not last very long. Buyer beware.....
