Seems like we’re conflating what’s morally right with what’s legally allowed as free speech: if we want our laws to reflect our morals, we need to change the law.
Morals depend on an individual’s religious beliefs. I think that’s why we try to make all speech free. But we have to use common sense. Some speech incites violence. To some extent, everyone interprets their religious beliefs a bit themselves, so some people could and do distort both their beliefs and their morality
It's a good interview, but this seven-minute segment only scratches the surface of the surface of this discussion. Even his "I applauded him for tossing the nazis off campus" line needs to be dissected and examined in the greater context of his overall point if we want to make a dent in this subject. I don't think people were grown-up enough to do that 30 years ago, so heaven knows it's not going to be any easier now, when we've been raised to approach all points of disagreement as existential threats and heresies. You can't regain trust that never existed to begin with.
Dudes dead on! These presidents speaking before Congress are incredibly lost. How the folk don't immediately speak out against racist speech is crazy Wesleyan potus is spot on! He definitely is right about intellectual diversity. These other potuses speak horribly out against their schools foundations, ideologically.
How do you think colleges and universities make money? International studies pay top tuition. That's money no school is going to turn down. If no one told you, colleges and universities are Businesses. Their goal is to stay profitable.
Educators can't teach what they can't do or don't know themselves. And they don't know how to teach to develop healthy curiosity. Sad!

Stop allowing so many international students onto our campuses.
