I’m really starting to realize that a lot of folks in this community secretly know that Darvin Ham was ultimately not the problem. He was a scapegoat. And it’s clear from what we are seeing right now. The coach was not the issue. it was and still is the front office and the moves not being made to improve the team plain and simple
It’s both, the front office didn’t do a good enough job on the roster and then Darvin exacerbated the roster problems. His lineups were borderline outrageous
As a Laker fan, to attempt to give JJ credit for the same moves that Ham did is blasphemy. DLO being benched was the cause of him losing the locker room and what his role this year? Injuries still plague us and JJ is still given grace. The real issue is the roster. I don’t care who coaches this current team. It’s going to be same results period. Stop making coaches scapegoats it’s a bad look
Darvin is right. Lakers look for someone to blame and ignore injuries and the talent level of players. Darvin had injuries, Russ, and no skilled players. What killed him was not having the support of the star players.
Trevor Lane can we get a long in depth video on how Jeanie Lakers owner needs to start showing her face soon and answer tough questions about her job . One championship in 14 going on 15 years while having a “GOAT” on your team for half of that time. What really needs to change?? This is the Legendary franchise Lakers right ? Are the right ppl in the right departments under your watch ? Is the ownership steering the ship in the right direction? Who is steering this ship ?
Preach Darvin! JJ isn't catching nearly all the hate that Darvin did. People like Trevor making all kinds of excuses for JJ when the problem is the players. No way 3 coaches have the same exact issues but Bron and AD are blameless.
@@SWENTERTAINMENTINC the difference between Darvin Ham and JJ is JJ puts these guys in positions you succeed while Ham hurt the team. JJ has yet to make a ridiculous lineup unlike Darvin Ham would have an entire wing lineup with Bron, Cam, Tauren Prince, Vando and AD. With AR, Dlo and Rui coming off the bench. Wtf kinda lineup is that? Thats the kinda lineups i would accidentally put in 2k when i didn’t understand subbing yet. And he let teams go in 14-0 runs without calling a timeout. Darvin Ham did go to the Conference finals, then proceeded to bench key players starting in the playoffs, changed the lineups multiple times, showing favor to certain players, and effectively ruining his relationships with all the players. He lacked critical thinking and got out coached by damn near everyone he coached against. If that's worth an extension, you must be on something man.

Trever, when the Lakers lost by 70 points over two games, did JJ "lose the locker room?" In both of those games, the team seem to quit on JJ. You had candid words for the Laker team, but no negative assessment of JJ. Why? If this happened under Ham you would have called for his firing.

It sucks that he started his first head coaching stint with the Lakers. The spotlight shines WAY to bright. He lost the locker room and thus his job. I do hope he gets another head coaching shot.
I don’t think he lost the locker room, he lost the fanbase. The only players who actually made comments are having a worse season under jj lol.. both rui & Dlo

Claiming he deserved an extension when he called ZERO timeouts when needed. Team would consistently fall behind double digits, he was silent as a mouse on sideline calling ZERO plays. Palinka should receive most of the blame why we have the team we have today and why it's hard for us to make the necessary moves we need to make with the roster. This should be his last chance to get it right. The only thing I didn't like about Darvin was he didn't call time outs when needed, no adjustments when needed, changing the line up constantly almost through the entire season, and no accountability when things went wrong.

Darvin Ham 90-74 winning record in 2 seasons reach conference finals after taking over a team that 33-49 missed playoffs got Frank Vogel fired
Darvin Ham coach even with Mike Malone had the Lakers and Nuggets in tight battle games late in 4th quarter only difference is one coaches stars Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray closed games in winning time the other coaches stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis couldn't close out games and Nuggets 4-1 over Lakers
Reason why nobody wants to play with LeBron James that's why Klay Thompson, DeMar DeRozan, James Harden said no
Lakers not a championship team at all even with JJ Reddick I wonder who they gonna blame next when they still LOSING next season
Goat 🐐 Jordan 6 rings, 6 finals mvps only 1 all star teammate Scottie Pippen compare to LeBron 6 finals losses and still doesn't have atleast 5 rings in 22 seasons despite playing with Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook
That’s a stretch
@@StoneCold2k57 get off your knees how dose their sack taste????
@@BrotherAcee" go hard at them dudes " "salute " " contest without fouling "😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
@StoneCold2k57 nope everything wasn't on Darvin there's a lot of blame to go around but he was horrible. It's his fault that he loved playing small ball against bigger teams. It was Ham's fault that he couldn't make adjustments. It was Ham's fault he continued to try what wasn't working. It was Ham's fault that he wouldn't call timeouts at the correct time. Should I go any further? 🤔
Facts ham 100percent correct yall jus mad JJ run with the lakers is not better than hams 😂😂😂 y’all use him as a scapegoat now y’all have to stand on that
Lakers fans are delusional 😂
I'm a Laker fan but also a realist Darvin Ham does have a point
Yall give JJ a pass smh
At least JJ draws up plays, gains respect, and calls timeouts when needed.
Oh you mean the plays that had them score under 100 points in 5 games ? Or the plays that had them lose by 40 points to Miami ? Yep such a great coach .
The logical move would’ve been to upgrade the roster, allow Darvin to develop as an HC and evaluate him after the roster is upgraded, not keep the same roster and hire another new coach with no experience 😂
“losing the locker” is a reoccurring theme. How about putting the “professional” back into professional athlete?
Jj blames players it’s funny y’all can’t see these players starting with LeBron are TRASH
Your comment starting with you, are TRASH. 😊
Darvin should never been HIRED, more so than fired. Should have kept Frank, and figured it out, instead of scapegoating him for Westbrook and having him find out he was canned at a post-game press conference.
Taurean Prince was consistently available, most switchable defender and most reliable 3-n-D in those Lakers with 39% from 3, confidently knocking down open shots. The hate towards him across the fan base is absurd. Look at what happened to LAL defence this season without him - it just imploded.
And look at the bucks 3pts percentage and the Lakers last year to compare to this year without Prince, he helping the bucks be in the top 10 in the league in 3pts percentage .
@@shavaraparker3780 Yep. Last night they said he's shooting 52% this season...
@elementary8614 I think the Lakers should have made space on the roster to keep Prince ,he was very efficient and effective at his rol
@@shavaraparker3780pelinka got rid of every player Ham took a liking to, Lonnie, pat bev, TP, Dennis…
@wills.9422 yea shit ,everyone forgot that Walker was doing good for the Lakers until his injury, and then Reaves came alive ,he forget to tell Walker thanks for the opportunity
Stop making excuses JJ sucks and if they don’t make it to the playoffs he should be gone also! Ham was not the problem it’s actually the front office they don’t know what they are doing!
IMO Darvin Ham deserves credit for helping the team win the first ever NBA cup. Love him or hate him, he deserves some respect for his (little) contribution to the list of Lakers trophies. As for the playoffs... this team was not close to a Championship anyway, which is on Rob Pelinka, not Darvin Ham.
Trevor, you can't talk about the Lakers having exceptional standards while the ownership is willing to waste a roster spot for jersey sales and photo ops. Losing the locker room is a reflection on the team leaders/captains not the coach. Ham wasn't a perfect coach, but he wasn't any worse at his job than this front office is at theirs...
@herusun3654 ya, @Trevor_Lane uses the excuse that Ham lost the locker room... oh & that Vogel lost the locker room... oh & that Walton lost the locker room... That sounds like to me it's the players' attitude & indifference that's the "locker room" problem
@@ejsoto160 exactly. I know most of these guys make more money than the coaches so the dynamics can be a little different, but at the end of the day quiting is unacceptable as a player of team sports. You're supposed to go out there and try to execute your coaches plan to the best of your ability even if it's not your favorite idea. This team routinely quits in real time on the court. And like you said, with it happening under multiple coaches, you have to look at the leadership levels of LeBron and AD. Team captains are supposed to be the voice of the coach on the field/court or whatever. That clearly isn't happening here more often than not.
@herusun3654 agreed 💯
Dude gets the Western Conference Finals, In Season Tournament Winner. Darvin is not great but are we really gonna not say he was doing well. JJ is doing the same thing he did last year but not the same critiques
You just looking at some results not his coaching
Darvin ham is absolutely right. Who they needed to fire is Rob Palanca and the Lakers front office they have to go if not, this team is headed in the wrong direction go Lakers.💜💛
😂😂😂😂What a clown coach🤣🤣🤣
As a bucks fan, thanks for being disfunctional. Prince and ham have been real nice 😂😂. Ope almost forgot about brook Lopez 😂😂
Two things can be true. Darvin needed replacing and the roster needed some athletic wings. Fixing only one of those problems doesn't create a solution.

That's why I'm glad that Lakers got no free agents and make JJ Reddick work with that same roster Darvin Ham had since you push false narrative that coaching the problem lol
LeBron OLD and WASHED and not good enough anymore to lead a team to championship no matter how many coaches fired Frank Vogel or Darvin Ham or teammates y'all blame Russell Westbrook or D'angelo Russell now Austin Reaves lol
Lakers 14-12 still t rash with JJ Reddick as head coach and been blown out by Heat 134-93 and Nuggets 127-102 and by Suns 127-100 and also Wolves 109-80
JJ Reddick can't coach lol

JJ Reddick not winning in season tournament or making NBA conference finals as a rookie lol so he's a downgrade

Ham is right!!!
Darvin is a damn good coach and im not buyin this lakers shield he took a team with Westbrook 33-49 and turned it around in two seasons and most of that praise went to Pelinka and not the coaching. Darvin will get another gig somewhere and we’ve got to figure it out with JJ.. Rob Pelinka should’ve got fired for letting Kenny Atkinson (known for his development work with players) just walk out of El segundo. Too many critical errors
fully agree that if he was with another team he would have gotten an extention. but yea, once u lose the locker room there is not hope for you coming back as the coach for the team
I really hate this man. If we're going with that logic (not counting the fact that he lost the locker room, mind you) Frank Vogel should have gotten a real shot being that he WON A CHAMPIONSHIP. Darvin, in his eyes, is the most blameless person on the planet. He could press the button to unleash a flurry of nukes and blow up some random country and he'd be like "well, gravity..." God, I'm sick of this man's BS.
Darvin Ham was a bad coach. He made bad decisions, made bad or no adjustments at halftime, and struggled to draw up plays for his team at many different points. I think he's perfect as an assistant coach. He's probably a good motivator, and a good person to talk to... but no matter how you cut it, he wasn't head coach material. At least not yet, or for a historic franchise like the Lakers.
Trevor, you’re making Darvin look good 😂
Well let see if JJ is held to the same high standards. JJ is about on par with what Ham’s teams were doing. If JJ continues to struggle how long will the Lakers wait to pull the plug. We keep hearing about how smart JJ is yet every game he’s standing on the sidelines with his hands in pocket. Then in his post game interviews we have to watch him hold his head and rub his eyes with every excuse he can come up with.
Why aren't u a head coach now darvin? Ciz u dont know anything about coaching
Him and his feelings over facts. Gtfoh
I think darvin ham was a terrible coach he was a joke
As soon as the Bucks won the cup, I immediately knew he was going to talk. Like cmon, a lot of us knew this was coming lol
Yeahhh!!! he won the Cup twice now
