Great video and lovely build. I am curious though - why did you hinge your ailerons at the top of the wing (and not the bottom of the wing). Hinging at the bottom would allow for much more aileron travel, as you only need a couple MM of reflex during launch/speed and could use over 45 degrees down during landing.
Your story about the hinges is absolutely right. I made it to looks better, but the travel of the flaps is really limited
From what I knew about aerodynamics, any unevenness on the top rear part of the wing would have much greater negative effect than on the bottom side, as they can provoke earlier flow separation and thus earlier stall on low speeds or high angles of attack.
Although I don’t know what is actual best practice of aileron mounting on DLG wings. I found this video while looking for examples how this should be done

Hi Marko. Thanks for this great design. I will set up a workshop in our makerspace to build 4 or 5 with a group. I have a question about the aileron servos which are obviously in the fuselage. how did you put them? the inner hollow part is just 10mm which does not allow to mount the servos side by side…
The electronics installation in this aircraft is really complex. If possible, make the fuselage a little wider, installation much easier
How do you adjust the center of gravity? Everything looks like a pretty tight fit.
Any chance of kitting this, or licensing to a kit producer. A 1.5m woody DLG would be perfect for beginners or builders who don’t want the expenditures of bagged layups.
Perhaps collab with Josh Finn at J&H Aerospace?

Yeah, it's really hard to get the CG right on this plane. Stabilizers must be extremely light. But try to put the extra weight in the nose, if you can't, put it out of the fuselage and decorate it with balsa.

Hello Marko great idea and work. Have you thought about adapting the wings from this dlg to dlg with an electric motor where you made the wings in composite? The wing chord could be reduced leaving a span of 1500mm what do you think?. Of course, the printed fusellage unchanged.
Changes can be made freely. It is not a competition plane, so any solution is suitable for the hobby

Hello Mr attar. I think that's right, but if you want to change that, it's very easy to grind the stabilizer base. You can set the angle as you like best.

Преобразовал ваш фаил в корел для лазерной резки. Передние и задние кромки из карбона 3,5 мм? Стрелы пока такого диаметра не нашел, наверное подберу другие и отредактирую отверстия в макете на порезку. Есть дефекты в корел в передних кромках нервюр, какие-то черточки, уберу их. Какой клей применяете. Знаю только космофен из подходящих. Бальза есть в интернет магазинах, кроме 5 мм, но думаю еще найду. Впереди кроме серв, приемника и аккумулятора ест груз? Модель понравилась. Хочу повторить. Какие шарниры используются у элеронов и руля высоты? Какой используете рубанок, такой он острый. Супер. Все нравится.

Hi, great DLG. What is the machine you use to cut out the ribs, is it a laser on a 2D router setup? Did you draught it in Solidworks and then do slices to get the profile at each rib station?
This is a CNC CO2 laser. I made the 2D drawings in Vectric Aspire

Which airfoil did you use?
Shouldn't both carbon tube define the profile of the wing? Real planes have a stressed surface! I guess it is just a question of taste, but like wood panels on the leading edge instead of this ripped skeleton.

ohh, i don't remember exactly anymore, but look at the drawing. Anyway, the main tube of the wing is an bow arrow, 7.5x6.5mm
also, is that a carbon fibre rod? How thick should i buy them
Do not overdo it, a wall thickness of 0.5 mm is sufficient.
The tube itself would be good tapered. In the video rod was 7.6mm. A smaller diameter is not recommended, it bends too much
