Should the vision in the eye being tested be corrected for NEAR or DISTANCE vision when you place your chin on the chin-rest and fix on the dot of light? (My distance power is, for example, -3.75D Sph -0.75D Cyl while my near lens power is -0.75D Sph -0.75D Cyl)

Wish they have detailed me before about the procedure. Wish I have met these beutiful presentations. Wish I have lived in US :) Well, most of our physicians are above standarts in diagnosis and treatment but again most of our physicians do not know English - the language of science (:

Hi Dr. Can cataract negatively affect visual testing results?

When taking the visual field test for the purpose of driving, should a patch be placed over the eye like for the glaucoma patient? I have non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) which affected my peripheral vision similar to glaucoma. I need a visual field test for retaining my drivers license so I'm wondering if I should be tested with both eyes together (uncovered).
Also, when taking the visual field test for the purpose of driving, are there certain parameters the technician needs to set on the machine? How will I know the correct parameters have been set by looking at the print out of the test?
    Thank you.

I have watched 5 or 6 of your very informative videos. Can you talk about the genetic factors involved in the development of glaucoma? One of my grandparents had glaucoma, both my father and aunt have it, and now a younger brother has developed it.

I’ve been thinking about this as a potential future video topic. However, the genetics of glaucoma are largely unknown and what is known is complicated. So far I’ve not been able to figure out how to clearly explain what is known in a short time frame, but if I do I’ll make the video.

If you wear contact lenses, is it better to wear the contacts for the visual field test? Or am I better off taking off my contacts and using the corrective lenses designed for the visual field test ? I’ve typically left my contacts in but sometimes they get so dry because I am blinking less as I try to focus on the visual field test. Thanks!

I have glaucoma and possibly myopic degeneration, high myopia. Also astigmatism and amblyopia.
I'm confused about something, I used to be able to blink and it helped clear my vision but it does nothing at all now. Doctors and techs keep telling me to blink but it does nothing during refraction and VF. Do you have any idea what causes this?
I haven't told them yet. I plan to next time someone tells me to blink.
Doctors don't tell me much. They couldnt tell me what I described was floaters so I don't expect much from them.
