Like every job, becoming a real estate agent has its pros and cons. You can sit back and day dream about the perks of becoming a real estate agent but that will paint a warped picture of what this career is like. In fact, it could even make you more susceptible to the hardships in this career.
This career has a lot of perks. In the real estate industry, you deal with big money and you can earn a lot in a little amount of time. The commission checks mean hard work and high rewards. When you become a real estate agent, you place yourself in the middle of this industry to facilitate the buying and selling of real estate. As much as this sounds like a great way to make money, this job comes with its obstacles.
As your own business owner, you don't have anyone telling you what to do. The downside to that is you don't have anyone telling you what to do. Like a double-edged sword, this career can build you up or cut you down. That's why we made this video. This video will show you what the pros of this job entail and how to overcome the cons.
The pros and cons of becoming a real estate agent:
PROS:
- Income potential
- Flexible schedule
- You are the entrepreneur
- It's a people business
- It's rewarding
CONS:
- You need patience
- The rejection
- It's competitive
- Escrow challenges
If the Cons bring you down. Don't worry. Robert Rico shares his advice on how to overcome them and stay on track.
When you work as a real estate agent and you follow your passion in this career, you'll find out that it gives you exactly what you put into it. When you give your career hard work and determination, you will be rewarded for you.
When you do your job and do it well, it doesn't go unnoticed.
Becoming a real estate agent is a career decision to put you in the business of working with people. People recognize and reward those who are great at what they do. Therefore, becoming the best real estate agent you can be doesn't just help you in the short term, but it's the long-term foundation you need to build a LUCRATIVE and STRONG career that people dream of.

Good job
Thanks for watching!
Great video thank you. The question, should I do my background check first or is it mandatory that I do classes/cores first? I am in Florida so I don't know if it would be different in Cali.
Great question! In California, you will undergo a background check when you submit your application to take the State Exam. This is also known as a live scan. Florida has a similar application process where you must submit your background check along with your application to take the Florida State Exam. Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions!
Love your videos ❤️
Thanks for watching, Salma! Hope you subscribed and hit the bell icon. Out of curiosity, are you part of the program?

Hi, Mrs. Lowla! Thanks for watching our video! We're happy to hear you're interested in learning more about real estate. We have tons of playlists on our channel that you can watch to get familiar with real estate. What part about this industry are you interested in?
@@USRealtyTraining thats the thing i dont kno
@@USRealtyTraining all i know is i want a better future for me n my family
So I’ve realized the people I’ve seen become real estate agents become good at it but I don’t know if it’s something I officially wanna get into because I don’t know if I’ll be good at it or if it’ll be able to help me pay rent or car payments or anything like that
Hey, there! I hear you. There's a lot of uncertainties in starting a career as a real estate agent. Out of curiosity, what makes you think you won't be good at it?
I’m half way through my course and would like to know your thoughts.
What do you think of the course so far?
Can you please make a video explaining the process of new real estate license holders. Are you required to work for a broker when you get your license and for how long in California? I want to get my license to work for myself and not for someone else. Can you explain this more in a video please
Hey, there! We're putting together a video that covers the things nobody tells you when you get your license. I think you'll really enjoy it. But, in the mean time, I wanted to answer your question.
From what you described, you want to become a real estate broker. Brokers function similar to agents, but they work independently. Everyone who carries a salesperson license only is a real estate agent, which means they have to work for a broker. That's why you see so many agents working at brokerages like Keller Williams, REMAX, etc.
As a real estate agent, you have control over your own schedule, you can create a team, and you decide who you work with. But, you have to work in and split your commission with a brokerage.
To become a real estate broker, you have to do the following:
- 2 years experience as a salesperson (real estate agent)
- Complete the following academic requirements: Real Estate Practice, Legal Aspects of Real Estate, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Appraisal, Real Estate Economics OR Accounting. In addition, you must complete 3 elective courses to complete.
- Pass the Real Estate Broker State Exam
- Submit a broker's license application
Once you complete all the requirements, you will get your broker's license in the mail or digitally sent via email.
You can read more about the process of becoming a real estate broker by clicking this link: www.carealtytraining.com/become-real-estate-broker/
I hope this helps. Let me know your thoughts about this - I'm happy to talk more about it. Thanks again!
Do I have to be a US citizen to do the real estate course and get my license in CA?
Nope.
Would you say it’s easier to start as a real estate assistant before working on your own to gain knowledge and experience?
Working as a real estate assistant is definitely a good way to learn about the industry and what other people do to make money. However, the downside is that you aren't out there doing the work yourself. So, it's up to you whether you would want to slowly transition or dive head first in your career - no wrong choice here.
Excellent video ! In what part of Cali are you a realtor? I really like your style, honesty and willingness to share knowledge without trying to sell us something every 5 minutes. Kudos!
SoCal - Los Angeles area. Mostly on the west end in Santa Monica. It's great out here and honestly I'm considering doing a video on what it's like to be a Realtor® in LA. Thanks for the kind words, AA. I really do appreciate it. I'm just happy to help share my experience and the things I learned with people who want to make this career happen for themselves. That's what I love most. So, hearing you like the content is a great thing to me. Are you currently in the process of getting your license?
@@USRealtyTraining Hi! Thanks for your reply. I'm thinking about it but honestly I feel uneasy about the "get clients/ leads/ cold calls and rejection" aspect 😰. Any video that you have talking about this?

Do you think it’s still a good time to get into real estate ?
Of course! It's always a good time to get into real estate, because there will always be buyers and sellers. Interest rates are steadily declining making home buying easier for folks. Get your license, build your database, and build a successful career!
