I was also surprised to see Paul Franklin sitting behind a ShoBud but he still sounds the same as always , in fact when I first heard the steel I assumed he was playing his Franklin then I saw the ShoBud.........what a great pedal steel player .
Damn, he can even play in Dutch! :) My Sho~Bud doesn't sound like that... sure wish it did, though. Paul's tone, and of course his playing, sounds excellent as always, but to me it doesn't sound like Paul playing his Franklin. It sounds like Paul playing a Sho~Bud. I love it! It would be cool to hear Paul play a push-pull Emmons, too. Great vid, thanks for posting.
Paul Jr. on Sho~Bud ...ha ... you don't see that every day.... I guess his Franklin was left in US, and Sho~Bud was a loaner... sounds great of course...
Here is what Paul said about his gear on the Forum "The guitar was a loaner and it sure sounds good on this clip.....My guitar and amp were in Nashville. .The aggressive part of how it sounds was because of how hard I had to pick to get any sustain out of it. That was mostly because of the amp problems I was having.....The amp was self compressing and a softer attack just disappearedI could not figure out a way to get around the amp problem other than play extremely hard..... "
Paul is a great player, He could play on a board with struings, a pickup and coat hanger benders and make it sould good. Sho Buds are great guitars, The Player, Paul Franklin is even Greater, The Amp was the problem. Promoters need to understand what the players need and have it for them if they can't have there own setup.
þau eru svo ótrúlega góð að maður fær gæsahúsð. Gefa bestu kántrýsöngvurum USA ekkert eftir. Og stálgítarleikarinn er hreint ótrúlegur. þarna er komin ástæða til að heimsækja Færeyjar, fara á tónleika hjá Magna C.
There's also a version by a Norwegian duo with the title "A time to dance and sing". You can find it on Spotify, search for Ann-Kristin Dørdal / Ottar Big Hand Johansen
Otroligt vacker och känslofylld sång! Färöarna har drömgrupp som borde ut i världen. Gud välsigne er!
Paul Franklin on steal guitar. He is for sure the best in the world. A guitar genius. The reason that I attended this concert.
Also Brent Mason on lead guitar, session guitarist for Alan Jackson.
