I have been to Ukraine 5 times. I love the Country, The People and the Traditions. My Translator and very good friend taught me many of the traditions and they are beautiful. Thank you for this video.
This is a beautiful example of the most important and integral part of Ukrainian tradition, and that is the Ukrainian family. Ukrainian families are the most beautiful in the world. May God keep our Nation and our Families safe! Thank you for your video!
Such a good video showing the holiness, beauty and poignant celebration of happiness and culture in Ukraine to commemorate Christ's birth ! Slavia Ukrainya, Glory to Ukraine !

80% of the people in the Ukraine are Orthodox Christians. There are many, many, other Orthodox customs that are widely practised in the Ukraine not mentioned here. Beautiful customs!
In honor of my grandmother, who was born in the Ukraine, and to celebrate the custom & tradition of our ancestry of culture...…..I asked my mom to do a dinner for Ukrainian Christmas. She invited all of her family for this festive feast and it was enjoyed by all. Lots of delicious Ukrainian food was prepared for this meal. I will never forget it. And thank-you for this beautifully done little video.
I have worked on a translation with the help of one of my students who has Ukrainian background. "In the Ukraine the celebration of Christmas begins on Holy Night, January 6th. They start cooking 12 dishes from early in the morning. The most important among them is kutya. Every component of this cooked porridge of whole grains and wheat has its own meaning: wheat symbolizes eternity and future generations; honey is a symbol of happiness and health; poppy seed is wealth; nuts riches and fertility; raisins for life and love. Kutya is cooked in the oven for several hours and in anticipation of the festive dinner children run out on the street to go round in costume. Caroling is a purely Ukranian custom not borrowed from other nations. On holy night children and young people are going from house to house and singing Christmas carols about the birth of Jesus Christ. The hosts invite them in. As night falls, the whole family gathers at the festive table. Traditionally kutya is taste tested when the first star appears shining ion the sky and proclaiming the birth of Christ. There are many Ukranian traditions on Christmas but no ancestors’ customs have neither the power nor Christmas spirit without faith."
Hi there. Sorry I can not answer that question, BUT CBN ha an amazing Christmas Village this year here in Virginia Beach: www.cbn.com/cbnchristmasvillage/activities.aspx. You are invited!
Despite knowledge of modern grammar (minor point, get real), this wonderful video suffers from the music drowning out the narration. Surely a good editor would have noticed this.
What are the children of the Ukraine gonna think...when there's no presents, no christmas tree....their gonna think Santa 's a fake, a coward..can't have that They need to do a commercial of santa looking into his north pole Crystal ball and see the destruction....and make a phone call......? Obviously Putin is on the naughty list....now?.....tsst....tsst...doesn't he have grandkids? Where's the empathy?
Nice video! Please edit your description and remove "the" from Ukraine. It is disrespectful to the people whose Christian traditions you highlight in this presentation.
THE Ukraine? Is this serious?! You should check your grammar book before posting something that supposedly is going to introduce Ukrainian culture to foreigners.
