#Deftones #NewSong #Reaction
Call me a fan boy but I’ve never been disappointed with any music they have put out. They are really the best band ever.
Um yes.
yeees
TRUE!
Fucking agreed
Amen!!!!
His riffs are SO SIMPLE but can pull a world out of your heart. I can hear so much influence from Chino in Marcus from Northlane
Definitely gets better the more times you listen to it
It was instant love for me. Ohms took a few listens.
Ohms stuck right away. This one took a few listens. Overall happy with both tracks. Can’t wait till next Friday!
Sharing Lungs agree with you. The sudden wave like hitting riff and voice of chino at the beginning blew me away.
I agree with.........Sharing Lungs!
loved at first sight
4:29
"Wanker on that note fam"
Sometimes the music is so good your brain just spurts out random things
Ughh..😒
Hello Totally not Jelal without a Mustache.
Ya know. I used to hate that you were in the comments of every vid I watched. But if you're here, and actually a fan of deftones.... I'll excuse you're presence.
Deftones and Meshuggah are the only bands who can still make binary riffs sound cool.
Fair point! There’s some other stuff like this that’s good, but Deftones & Shuggah are absolutely among the best
I recommend you check out LOATHE if you haven’t
Throw Loathe and Northlane in there and you are correct
what's a binary riff?
After The Burial also.
"A little more spice would have been nice" see this is the only thing I disagree with, I love the simple heavy repetitive rhythm of deftones it is very hypnotic and rinds me of their older style.
This. Deftones has always been simple and repetitive in their style but they make it work.
Yeah same here. This feels like listening to one of the older albums, but newer of course. It's like a mix between the sounds from their self-titled album mixed with Koi No Yokan and Gore vibes.
Fucking love it and can't wait until the whole album drops. I got it preordered 😁
NorthTimo but vocals always been interesting melodically/harmonically
Person 2018 for sure!
@@callmewaves1160 I get a little diamond eyes with the creativity and darkness of white pony
This one blew me awayyyy. It‘s like listening to them for the first time again. Jesus.
Ohms is quite possibly one of their best albums in YEARS!!! this whole record is ridiculous... I'm absolute in love with it. So much atmosphere... chunky guitars... wall of sound... perfect synth... and Chino's voice just fucking soars!!
For anyone wondering what the music video looks like, you can literally watch it from the reflection off Nik's face.
I loved this new track, way better than Ohms.
It sounds like Koi No Yokan but with the heaviness of their Self Titled record. Simply amazing.
Couldn't agree more. Ohms was good, but a bit disappointing.
This is the perfect way to describe it. I think Ohms is the last track on the album, and it's fitting. Took me a while to get uses to it though
They should have held out on releasing Ohms as sneak preview to the album, I believe this song is the album's leading single. Ohms has grown on me after a few listens and should fit snuggly with the rest of the album.
Me too man I liked it way better than Ohms
I completely agree!
I love the combination of the deftones lineup but, Abe Cunningham is the glue that makes these songs rip imo. Gotta have a good drummer!
Yup no doubt Abe’s fills are golden 🤘🏼💯💯💯💯💯
I'm definitely biased at this point, but even when I first started listening to these guys the drumming always stuck out. Abe is definitely one of the best there is!
he's a BEAST
They lost their backbone, R.I.P Chi
@@coolbeanz6026 Nah they still have it. Chi will always be sorely missed, though.
I can dig this new Deftones, it's a somewhere in between the chauffeur , and rocket skates. I would love another monster track like Now you've seen the butcher again though......
By the way The Chauffeur is a cover of Duran Duran (not a Deftones song)
You've seen the butcher is super underrated.. that song is all over the place, like your typical deftones song!
@@xavneosid I genuinely had no clue, I've loved there cover for years and never knew thanks brother
This entire album is full of monster tracks
All album is a true masterpiece but The Spell Of Mathematics is wicked AF!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤘🏼🖤
A perfect mix of KNY and Self Titled. Love it. I hope the rest of the album is as quality as this tune. This was an instant classic, IMO.
No doubt. This is one of the best songs they've ever made, for sure.
This is what i was thinking. I feel like KNY was their best by far so I'm glad there's more of that feel here.
@@SuicidalChocolateSK KNY is definitely my favorite Deftones album, too, and I feel like Ohms is going to be very similar. There are some people out there who have heard most of the album and they all seem to say that it's a lot like KNY. If that's true, I'm not complaining at all.
BREAKİNG NEWS: REST OF ALBUM İS BETTER
@@serhat6181 Idk about all of that... Album is very solid, tho. Much better than Gore.
Such a naughty little riff
The song formula= hexagram and rosemary
Exactly
Nailed it
I was being reminded of Change in the very beginning, but as people started bringing up Rosemary, it does sound more like it.
Don't forget Swerve City dude.
Both are even one of my favorite Deftones songs.
So stoked on this track. Can’t wait for the new record
New record was so god damn beautiful. I put it near the top just below White Pony, Diamond Eyes and Around the Fur... Maybe Saturday night wrist too
@@1neOfN0ne same here dude. I absolutely loved it
One band I'll never stop loving!
Honestly I didn't mind the intro. It felt like it added some sort of progression to the song with the feedback and then the drummer with the 1 2 3 4. And yes it's not just on the video.
The intro is beautiful. I love it when they start songs off with Frank's idea and then build off that. He blends most of their albums by adding intros/outros and layering songs.
I think Frank is really the underappreciated part of Deftones’ sound that makes them unique. I mean every member makes the band sound unique but Frank’s textures just add something special to it
I can hear white pony in this
I thought the same thing! I hear a wide mix of their discography in it
A little bit of a self-titled sound in the guitar/drum attack with screaming
It sounds like all their previous work & sounds new at the same time
@@Meshuggapeth lots of Self-titled feel into it, some of the vocal effects from white pony too, but with the maturity of Koi No Yokan.
Trae Sanford absolutely right
"You write that binary, bro" dead!
Grows on ya .. love that vocal echo
This album is one of their best to date, Absolutely phenomenal...
One of my favorite songs by them. So heavy and it has this eerie, spacey atmosphere
You should react to Sleep Token - The Offering
Oh fck yeah 😍
YES
So THIS is where it started, huh....
I've had this song on repeat since it came out. Play it every morning 🤣
I'm so excited for the full album
instant classic Deftones
This is a great song, man! Its everything i love about Deftones
It’s actually 2-1-1-1 guys. Way more technical than 1-0-0-0.
thats cool though.. deftones have never been a technical band. their really just pure atmosphere. it works really well for them.
@@joeyclemenza7339 exactly
it depends on the tuning. it’s usually played in CGCF tuning
I love that this band is still making music (:
I think we just need to hear the album as a whole . I think it’s one of those albums where song by song it has diff vibes
Literally greatest band of all time
The sick thing about this song is its got riff that simple and about 1 or 2 notes but specific rhythm and when the vocal melodies come in it makes it so much more interesting and unique
This song is Rosemary's matured self.
Stef is the master of simple hard hitting riffs
We need more DefTones man whenever possible urantia -deftones is a good one from the new album
The intro into the verse riff was my exact reaction lmao
Nunca había estado tan temprano en un video de Nik!!
I dig both songs and so glad to hear there back to the norm after gore. 2 things, one i hope steph has a few songs with the super low 8 string tuning he used a lot on DE and KNY. Both songs while good they havent given me that holy shit feeling yet that deftones usually do to me. First time I heard tempest i almost shit myself. Diamond eyes same. I think I expected a little more with them going back with terry plus steph being back in the fold writing wise.
I think the original song is in C#1
I loved Gore. Especially Phantom Bride. My favorite albums being Gore, Koi No Yokan, White Pony in that order. I always thought they shined in the Change/Knife Prty/Sex Tape style. Just the general, clean verse, heavy chorus, clean verse, heavy chorus, heavy bridge, outro/breakdown formula.
Steph plays a 9 now
@@michaelczesnozki1671 i agree, don't get the hate for Gore
@@Rastasskate2 tuned in C#1 I guess.
Yeah, a very fun looking video so far indeed Nick
Listens Weight of my pride - pay money to my pain. is very nice
3 minutes later: *Posts Cover*
Does Nik have a 9 string?
Luis Pérez the music video of this song had a 8 string so i assume this song is in F# standard or drop E. I really hope that a 9 string is used in the able
@@THEshaggyrogers : Stephen uses 9 strings now. I'm pretty sure he tracked the new album on 8 and 9. But he's officially switched to 9 in the last year.
@@THEshaggyrogers Na on this album Stephen used a 9 string
David S yeah IK that but if you look at the genesis video he has a 8 string
This is nice. Looking forward to owning the album.
Can listen to Deftones all day.
He should take a look on Seven, the dude is a one man band and he's insane. I recommend Skyline divided, his most famous music.
or wait the new album, it'll be a nice react.
I lost a tooth at a Deftones show. They play summer whole album then did diamond whole album. 2020 Deftones
Shit man I love this song it's s banger
when you said "one-zero-zero-zero", you actually sung it as low as note C goes here!!
the whole video
nik *WHAT DUDE*
Gotta do Urantia. That track is wild.
i genuinely screamed when i first heard this track.
the intro reminds me of Rosemary
I remember how I listened to this song for the first time and instantly loved it. 5 Out of 5 Instant Classic. 🙏
Glad someone loves this track as much as I do.
Deftones 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤝🇧🇷
Come to 🔥
Ass🔥
This song was the perfect opening song for the album. I saw them live for the first time in April and they opened with this and it definitely hit hard as fuck 🤘🏻
I like your reactions!🖤
Super solid im likin itt#my boyz#deftones❤️❤️
awesome album opener 😌
How did I manage to be this early, also great vid as usual
Stephtones is the master at power chords 💯🤘🏾
fantastic reaction brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The synths are sick!
Hey bro. Great commentary. Our opinions differ but thats the fun of it. I respect your opinion and learned from it. Thank you.
Dude, you gotta know by now, they always leave you hangin with their chorus! Super heavy with that 9 string! Love it
it's not even in the 9 string register, it's in Drop C2 🤣
@@TheTeaTVI either way, it's deep and it's heavy!
@@Insidious-zi8ov that's the point! if C2 is heavy, what's that low C#1 gonna be like 🤤🤤🤤
Opening guitar notes play
Me - "Ah them the Deftones notes"
Fam, we need a Tallah reaction from you. L.E.D. Is an absolute banger!
1:43 ... that is the face one makes when one listens to deftones 🤟
Deftones still have it. This song is incredible.
New Breakdown of Sanity! Traces! Let's goooooo!
**1 second into the song**
Nik: MMMmm MMhmm
Two windows, sync videos, boom Niks reaction with the music video
Excellent!
Dude, YOU NEDD TO REACT TO RESTRICTED BY ALPHAWOLF!
Nik can you upload the original version with the music video on Twitch?
This is sick
One of the best thumbnails ever
Deftones # my heart this is sick
My boi likes vocal layers lol
Deftones has its own signature
"How we gonna 'splode" - Nik
I'm new to this series. Has Nik already reacted to the new stuff by The Ocean ? (Phanerozoic 2). If not how do we get him to listen to them?
fuck yea dude!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2020 is the best year of all time thanks to Deftones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This song gives me fucking goosebumps..
Love the low tunings
Do you know what tuning this song uses?
Reprehensible Meshuggah Deftones always seem to use 7/8 strings for their music currently. But I’m pretty sure this one is drop c. It’s just played in a really modern/heavy tone.
Trivium Fans 2 Thanks I was wondering what key it was, and yeah Stephen Carpenter said that 8 strings allow him to play any key lol
I think the original song is in C#1
8 string F standard, but it’s mainly on the 2nd fret of the low A#
Yo, Nik, i really would love to seeyou reacting to a brazilian band called Project 46. They have some songs in english, bus they're mostly in portuguese. My recommendations are "Erro +55" (this one don't have an english version) or "Urban Reality" (or "Realidade Urbana", in case you wanna check out the portuguese version)
Love from Brazil
Dude, Alpha Wolf just released a new album, you gotta check out their song Restricted (R18+)
Yeah this is heavy yeahhhhhhh👌🍺
Yes, very fun video indeed
Half expected the new Gojira tune to kick in occasionally
Nice react! I miss the explosion too, and im waiting for it haha. Please can you react The Game is Over from new Evanescence's upcoming album The Bitter Truth?
You're reaction videos are on the elite level👌I have a suggestion I would like to see you react to... Think it's right up your alley.
The video I'm suggesting is "Now and on Earth - Your number is up". Enjoying your content from South Africa 🇿🇦
Ive checked this out like twice
Paleface - Curse Us this song really heavy & hard
I got rosemary vibes from the intro
Deftones does it again.
This has some awesome ethereal vibes that Devin Townsend has. Obviously there’s a lot less “wall of sound” and the scream is different, but there’s both instruments and synth, screams and cleans, then the way those instruments and vocals are layered? Definitely getting the same ethereal feel.
Soo deftones👌🏻❤️🥃
I have a theory about the album cover. If you cover one of the eyes, you'll see a different expression from when the two eyes are combined.
You know whats cool. I didn't like ohms as a single but I love it so so much more that its the closer of the album. The song works so much better at the end of the record than a single.
yh lil spice wouldve worked but also remember its deftones we talkin bout, but in a good way, they are ethereal and extraordinary in so many ways, they dont need more instrument sounds or a better riff, just like they mentioned in genesis "were flowing off in the ether" chinos voice is another instrument one its own, at least i.m.o. but still the more u listen to it just like the song OHMS the better it gets
