With the denoise, sharpening and enlargement software available today... this is the worlds finest camera to carry. You have the ability now to enhance the 12 megapixel images from this camera to rival a D850's output or beyond.

I bought one in May this year. 20k actuations. And I love it. Just picked up a 24-70 2.8. It’s absolutely all I need.

I love my D700's. They do everything I need a stills camera to do, and nothing I don't. As an old-time film photographer, I tend to compose in the camera while shooting, so the higher megapixel Nikons I have owned haven't really provided anything to me that I need for general photography since I don't crop a lot. I have zero interest in video using a DSLR and don't print bigger than 20x30 inches, so the D700 is just fine for me. I too leave the 24-85 VR on a D700 camera as a "walk around" lens, but am just as likely to use a nice prime lens when I know what I'll be shooting. I also have three older pro-level Nikon 2.8 zooms that seem right at home on the D700.
I recently thought to "upgrade" my resolution a bit and bought a like-new D600 with a replaced shutter. It made nice images, but the autofocus was nowhere near in the same league as my D700, and the camera's frame rate was slower than the D700 with the battery grip. I noticed a negligible difference at very high ISO's in favor of the D600, not enough to matter to me. Although the D600 did some cool things, I didn't get the same joy from using it. So I sold it to a budding new photographer to get him started and bought a second D700 body. Just my two cents worth.

I`ve bought mine in 2009 and since then I`ve no need to change or upgrade, my other camera is the analog Nikon F4s, also a brilliant camera

Agreed.....I have two that I bought in 2010/2011 and like you have never felt the need to upgrade once. For what I use them for they are near perfection. Built like tanks.

I got it last year for less than 500 euros and it rocks. It one of the best cameras out there. The only thing is really profesianol camera so it means more weight and size. It's so fast that you can truck almost everything. A friend of mine with a panasonic G85/ IBIS make a night shoting comparison with his camera and the D700. It's amazing how the D700 can shoot even in the dark night situation. The panasonic even with IBIS started to saw it's limits of the small sensor.

strange I thought 32 gig mem cards were the max in this camera but I have seen two people here on you tube using the larger cards.

Will a Tamaron 70-200 G2 lens work with this Nikon D700?

I’ve heard of D700s with close to 360,000 so I don’t really think that anyone can certifiably say what to do. If it were inexpensive enough and had been well maintained, me personally, yes I’d buy it.

Is the mic on the d700 better than the one you are using for this video???

Which compact flash card adapter is that ???

Got mine in May 2018 from Amazon. It is a QUMOX compact flash to SD card adapter. If you're going to buy one make sure it is a type 1 adapter. (type 2 adapters are too thick and will NOT fit in the camera) The adapter was under £11 and I have had no problems with it. SD cards are so much cheaper than the equivalent capacity CF cards.

I have a D700 on order but no cf cards or cf reader so this will be very helpful as I have a number of SD cards. I am looking to use it to test out full frame and use it as a back up body. Most of the SD cards I have are 16 GB or above. I suppose you could use a wi-fi sd card with this.

Hi William - yes indeed. I sometimes use a Toshiba flashair 64gb wireless sd card in the adapter so I can transfer the photos wirelessly to my tablet, and edit them from there. Got the flashair from a firm called Picstop who were so much cheaper than others that I researched.
Make sure that you use 'full frame' lenses when you get your d700 - dx lenses = although they fit - do not get you the best results with the camera's full frame sensor. Old 'd' lenses that were used on 35mm Nikon film cameras can be picked up for a snip nowadays.
