*humiditer We liked it **Fastly.Cool** so much in the basement, we bought a second one for the main level. The amount of moisture it pulls out of the air is astonishing.*
Do you copy and paste this on all dehumidifier videos 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦
I keep butter containers for this. Also Calcium Carbonate in bulk from a pool shop is the same as Damp Rid™️.
This is a great idea, gonna save a fortune on the shop bought ones. cheers
So what were your before and after weights? Curious to see how effective it is.
If you don’t have a drill to hand a lighter, preferably a jet flame type works ✌️🙏
Great idea for the bungalow. Gonna give this a go, Thanks.
Thank you for the video, I just bought a beach hut with no electric and was advised to get about 5 dehumidifier that take tablets but looking at the cost it is very expensive, this seams a good solution, just need to ask do they work as well on the floor or are the better higher up as there is no glass windows like in a camper
I have some off the floor as well, try different cat litters like the silica type and see which works best 👍🏻
This is a fantastic Idea so going to give this a try thank you for doing the video hope you do more of these.
Great little hack.
Going to try this out 👍
Would this work in a bedroom? I read one of the comments here saying this for camper vans only 🥲
It’s worth trying in a bedroom, let us know how you get on 👍🏻 it works in the confined space of a campervan
My diesel heater seems to bring moisture in from the outside air even though the air has been heated as it passes through..
I use my electric heaters sometimes and wake up with no condensation but can't always have a hook up so rely on the diesel heater usually..
I will try your method as not getting much power these days from my solar panels so can't run my dehumidifier
Good luck
i use Calcium Chloride i get it cheaper than cat litter and i think it works a lot better as well.
Cool thanks for the tip, I’ll try that
How often do you replace rhe calcium chloride?
Fresh Step blue crystals works best or calcium chloride
can u put a hygrometer in the kitty litter to measure the humidity? And check in about an hour if the reading has actually gone down
Yeah don’t see why not, but you might need more than an hour
I wonder where the water will be captured? Usually there is a holding for water right.
Water is absorbed by the cat litter
So the cat litter helps as if it was a dehumidifier?
Yes, it absorbs moisture from the damp air in the van 👍🏻 I weighed mine before and after a month on digital kitchen scales. And month later it was heavier
@@MonkeysUncleDubzClub A month later it was how much heavier?
@@Monstermagick not weighed it for a while but it was deffo heavier I think it was 5 grams heavier, it all depends on how much condensation your van creates I guess 👍🏻
Let's say you have high humidity in the bathroom. 70-80%. This means that on average 1m2 = 200-300g of water. Plus another 10 liters in the walls.
Such a dehumidifier is able to collect 50g of water in a few days.
I’ll have to try this 👍
Did it work?
Ooh clever 👍🏻
*this is very simple*
Thanks!
Do dehumifers kill mold spores or do they just stop new mold appearing I use dehumifers and I have mold also is salt effective and ok to use in dehumifers that have crystals in the top of dehumifer also are small dehumifers ok to use in small bedroom I have mold in my bedroom
That’s a great question, one which I don’t unfortunately know the answer to, I do know I use the dehumidifiers and I haven’t noticed any mold appearing? I would suggest they don’t kill mold spores directly, but help the damp from forming which encourages mold formation. I have them in the home as well and don’t see mold. I’d suggest giving the room a good clean and ventilation whenever you can as well.
@@MonkeysUncleDubzClub I have air vent in my bedroom but its closed needs to be open are small dehumifers ideal to use in small bedroom or should I use medium sized one or large one also are small dehumifers effective in stopping mold
Its ok
@@taramiller70 I’d deffo keep you’re air vent open, and try a couple of medium sized dehumidifiers at first and see how they work, you can always add more. 👍
@@MonkeysUncleDubzClub I use small dehumifers as they are cheap and try to save money also can I use dehumifers without opening air vent or better to use both as in air vent open sorry I'm goin on
Is that box enought to dry 10feet wide room???🙏
Don’t know if I’m honest, try it and let me know if it works 👍🏻
Hi where can i buy those tiny things
You can buy cat litter from most department stores and the old boxes can be bought as well, I use old takeout containers 👍🏻
What can I use besides a cat litter?
Not sure tbh if you find a better alternative please let me know, I used cat litter because it was cheap and readily available 👍🏻
Baking soda for smaller cabinets.
Rock Salt tied in a cloth or a sieve inside a bucket/container in which the moisture will be collected as water.
Like this 👌
Would it work in a closet
Yeah mine works in the cupboards in my van
Our kitchen cupboards get a bit damp. If i put these in, how often would the cat litter need changing and what's the best way to dry it out for reuse?
@@voodoomotion5855 hi. I have the same problem. Have you tried anything that works?
@@errsalaahmed4036 hi, I eventually bought some orange dyed silica gel beads that turn green when the adsorb moisture. I put a cupful in small breathable bags. Then once green, heat them up at a low temperature in the microwave to dry them out. We use ours in food cupboards so its important to get the orange not the blue :) hope that helps. Reducing the amount of moisture you create and using an electric dehumidifier is the best option. These are handy in wardrobes, cupboards and drawers. You might be able to leave it without drying out in microwave because it's the same stuff they put in little packets you get when buy things like shoes. It should help pull moisture away during humid times and release it gradually when the air is dryer. Drying them yourself is time consuming but maybe help more.
@@voodoomotion5855 Thanks for replying. I had mould growing in my new top kitchen cabinets (never seen this before in any of my previous kitchen) and all of them at the same time. I have since cleaned them, dried out the cabinets with an electric fan heater and then placed ansio dehumidifier packs on each shelf and I can see that they have started to collect moisture. I'm after a cheaper solution so will definitely try this. Thanks 😊
👍🏼 Cheer's
It doenst work, the author of the video said in the comments, that the box got 5 grams heavier after a month. A good dehumidifier should absorb substantial part of it's own weight, at least 20%.
It’s not an exact science, the cat litter will absorb different amounts of moisture dependent on many variables
this will work NEVER
it will work
