Hi slahser. I quit playing videogames in 2004. I was playing ever quest. I did not play another video game until 2013. I started playing dota. I majored in english literature, studied philosophy, managed to find a brief period of work as a writer. I have enjoyed your guides which is why i write you this. Work as a writer dried up. I now regret that i studied literature. I am going through college a second time because i could not find work relevant to my degree and i'm now working in retail. Make sure you can find internships if at all possible. Graduating with a degree in literature or philosophy makes life difficult. Few people will care. That said, i had some of the greatest moments of my life while living a literary life. Please just recognize that it takes tremendous work to find relevant employment. Begin trying to find work related to your studies immediately. If you do not seize the opportunity, you may wind up like me, working in retail despite having amassed more than 180 undergraduate college credits. Telling employers that i translated large portions of the new testament, plato, and all of oedipus the king seems to turn employers off more than excite them. Although it is not exactly a secret that i studied what i did, I now dislike talking about it with most people. I think that, for me at least, the study may have been a waste of time. Begin searching for projects and work in literature immediately. Work hard on your philosophy/literature/history channel. There is a time window after you graduate where people will think "this guy just graduated, that's why his experience is limited." After that time window, people might think you're a bum, like i think some people did with me.
Thanks for all your work in the dota scene. I've always loved your videos and stream. You've been quite influential in both pub and pro meta. I understand why you are leaving. I'm 27 and my for my own mental health I'm also giving up dota. Thanks again from a huge fan and good luck in the future.
Thanks for your channel man. I think you made a huge contribution to the community, but if you think it's time to let go, I respect it. See you on the other channel. :)
Whilst new slasher's way videos might not come our way, your memory will always be alive, slasher's way lives on through every noob that turns to this pro. Personally, I love these guides, you provide such a non-mainstream meta that is totally out of the box. So much so that the enemy is so confused by the play style. Thank's for the good time :)
man...slahser I'm going to miss you so much...You're one of the beacons of light in this community and everything you have done is so cherished. I'm sorry to see you go. I hope I see you on the web again someday soon. you are a special man.
*Sigh* I waited so many years for you to become pro in Dota2 and now you quit again :/ I wish you all the best Slahser ! Your perceptive play videos will always be really nostalgic to me !
thanks slahser for all the great videos over the years and sharing your insights and ideas about the game through these guides, hopefully see you around sir
Let's all play 3 games in a row of Slasher's void in honor for these guides. Slasher's tiny made me love the rat, and I love him for it. I salute you, Slasher and hope you can find your way in the working world after you finish your studies
Oh man. Your ways of playing heroes always made me happy, that somewhere there are players, who don't follow meta blindly! I wish you solve all of your problems, man :)
I hope to see you casting with a studio soon. I know your arm is not the best for the mouse use required, but you are one of the best minds in Dota that still think out side of the box.
Understand exactly how you feel slahser. You deserve a good break. I stopped playing for months after life got in the way as well. Your legacy of guides will keep inspiring ingenious playstyles.
To add on to what Slahser said about astral imprisoning yourself and blinking out, there is an orange circle that starts in the middle of the imprisonment that travels to the outside while a hero is banished. This is a visual indicator as to how long imprisonment lasts. However, it will only reach the outer portion of the imprisonment circle at level 4; it reaches closer and closer to the edge as it is leveled up so keep this in mind! Also, this hero has received buffs in every patch between 6.80 and 6.85 but 6.81 and in that patch there was no change to the hero.
Good luck for the future Slahser! All empires rise and fall, I think we enjoyed the golden age of DotA 2 - it is in decline now. All the best for your future projects, I will check them out at some point. Thanks for taking the time and effort to create content.
I'm a bit confused why you are quitting, the reasoning feels like it could use more elaboration but either way I'm sad to see you leaving the scene. Following the meta standard is boring but you showed everyone dota is a flexible game where you can discover new ways to play without building the same thing every game. Thanks for the outlook slahser, I hope you come back to dota one day.
you will be missed as the crazy guy that did all tzhee cool and unique builds which then became the meta :) good luck in the future and enjoy your life.
I found you just after you posted your Phoenix guide and have followed you since. When Reborn came out and the playerbase wavered and your uploads slowed down, I imagined you were about to move away from Dota. I'm doing English Literature at uni and I used to really enjoy your streams when you'd occassionally talk about Ulysses when I was studying it, it genuinely helped me a fair bit. Really glad to hear you're continuing Stay a While, it's a one of a kind series. Best of luck with whatever you do.
Sad to see you will not be playing for the foreseeable future man. I enjoy your videos and try to watch your stream from time to time. Wish you the best.
Thanks for all your guides. They made dota more interesting to me. I can relate to your need to take distance from Dota and wish you all the best with your recovery. If you're interested I can coach you on healing and reinvigorating any aspects of yourself that may have atrophied as a result of dota. Good luck!
gg slahser we will miss you. And IMO i think leaving dota its impossible, the thing is too damn addictive and it also keeps your brain active (and sometimes is the only positive thing in life when you are in a low moment). So i really do hope you aint quitting forever, this game needs people like you and show that there are alternative ways of playing the game. Get your well deserved break. Take a Sabbatical from Dota. And hopefully we will see you again.
Pretty cool to see that Wagamam did slaher's way OD in an homage to you on his stream this saturday. Sad to see hear that your are going to stop playing dota. I really like your "slahser's way" guides and will miss them. Good luck in your future endeavors. :)
Thx for the guide, but i feel this way of playing will take a much higher skill lvl to do and its certainly not for everyone but most guides are like that, also very interesting. Thank you for what u do, and i hope u find more success in the future, grow as a dota player or the other channel.
This really works well with me. I've noticed from my own playstyle that invi and mobile heroes really work for me. It the hero is not mobile, shadowblade with do. :))
I've really enjoyed your guides, and commentary since who knows how long. If you do enjoy playing Dota, find a way to control your time. I'm sure I and many others have come to face that, "If I sit down to play one or two games, I play all day", dilemma. Behavioural changes are not easy to accomplish without preplanned strategies, safeguards, and some outside support. You're working hard at what you do, and whether you decide to stick to literature or split that time with dota 2, I believe you will be successful.
+slahser dota I think its inspiring that you recognize how much time dota is taking from you and are willing to take a break from it. I will definitely pay attention to your other channel.
+slahser dota I'm not bashing you for quitting or anything, but why? Your general reason seems to be "not interested in Dota, find myself not playing for big gaps"... but burnout and stuff happens to everyone, you really think you'll never get the urge after taking a break? Just seems like a weird huge shift for no reason. Taking a break is a fine thing to happen, but say you never want to play again..?
That shadow blade should be replaced by Athos. It has the same effect. They cant run away anymore and neither they can be a threat to you because you silnced them with orchid. And Athos also improves your Ulti and passive!
Shadowblade who saw that coming Kappa anyway pretty cool guide though i love OD and its been forever that i have seen him in play will try this for sure btw iam still w8ing for techies slasher way no mines max stats rush mask of maddens
Dammit, man, I just discovered your videos. I hope you come back eventually, just take a break for a while and enjoy life. Just do whatever you feel like.
hey slahser, thanks for the od guide, but i still have a question about the skill build: should i max essence aura like how you've become the essence of dota, astral imprisonment like how you've imprisoned my heart, or sanity's eclipse because i'll go insane if you leave the scene? :*(
Have you considered rod of aui on OD Gives him cost very cost efficient INT and a decent amount of bulk and an amazing slow that prevents heroes that can otherwise kite you from doing so. EDIT: NVM; I'm stupid; didn't finish vid.
OD: Offlane Destroyer
+SpectreAmazing damn wish I had said that in the video:D
+SpectreAmazing So does that make him an excellent safelane hero instead ? SORRY SOMEONE HAS ASK IT

I really hope hes going to read that.
Also thats the reason I started studying energy-science. Its going to be a nightmare, but I don't want to starve on the street.

What kind of job opportunities where you applying to anyway?
thanks for all the years of you've put into dota2. you will be missed
RIP Slahser guides. You ruined so many low MMR pubs, your guides will be missed.
Thanks for all your work in the dota scene. I've always loved your videos and stream. You've been quite influential in both pub and pro meta. I understand why you are leaving. I'm 27 and my for my own mental health I'm also giving up dota. Thanks again from a huge fan and good luck in the future.
He sounds so depressed :(
+Astrid Parungao Hahahaha, idk but i laughed so hard.
Thanks for your channel man. I think you made a huge contribution to the community, but if you think it's time to let go, I respect it. See you on the other channel. :)

+Jye Chapman Fuck you
+RedDeathGamer eww lol you gave me cancer, ahh God, pls no more ;,; your comments ARE cancer and it's no joke, truth hurts
We will miss you slasher. Your huskar build is the best. You prove to me that any hero is playable in different metas. Thank you. GLHF commended.
thanks slahser for all the great videos over the years and sharing your insights and ideas about the game through these guides, hopefully see you around sir
Thanks for all the great guides. Sorry to hear that you're retiring. All the best.

Was this video a bit rushed? You sounded like you were falling asleep while recording this.
+Miles Edgeworth
TAKE THAT!
ua-cam.com/video/77PToTG99SY/v-deo.html
+Miles Edgeworth he said at the end it was the last slashers way. he was probably a bit sad
+Miles Edgeworth Have you watched until the end?
Oh man. Your ways of playing heroes always made me happy, that somewhere there are players, who don't follow meta blindly! I wish you solve all of your problems, man :)
You can't escape dota. Trust me m8 you'll be back ;)
You did a great job, man. You managed to change pub and pro meta with your guides (especially void one). Sad to see you going away, but good luck.
I hope to see you casting with a studio soon. I know your arm is not the best for the mouse use required, but you are one of the best minds in Dota that still think out side of the box.
Thank you senpai for all these guides. You will be remembered.

Oh boy oh boy, you haven't seen 6.86 cancer.
Thank You for the great guides and the fun builds. Good luck with what ever else you do.
I'll miss your guides, best of luck with your future endeavours!
You have taught me a lot about Dota during your streams etc, thank you for everything. And I hope you'll return someday.
Thanks you for all your guides, looking forward for your return :)

I've always enjoyed your videos slahser thanks for making them :D
The pentagram combined with astral imprisonment looks really cool
Thanks for all your guides. They made dota more interesting to me. I can relate to your need to take distance from Dota and wish you all the best with your recovery. This is really nice, i try this build rather than FS + Agh + refresher. Comes out really great. Thanks !!!
Pretty cool to see that Wagamam did slaher's way OD in an homage to you on his stream this saturday.
Sad to see hear that your are going to stop playing dota. I really like your "slahser's way" guides and will miss them.
Good luck in your future endeavors. :)
Noooo how will we ruin 3k games without your builds now(((
love your videos
Hey man I'm going to miss your videos. Gotta respect that you're cognizant of how much time dota is taking from your life though. Good luck!
I will miss these videos very much. : ((
Thx for the guide, but i feel this way of playing will take a much higher skill lvl to do and its certainly not for everyone but most guides are like that, also very interesting. Thank you for what u do, and i hope u find more success in the future, grow as a dota player or the other channel.
hey there slasher, hope to see you soon as caster, imo you have everything that is needed for an eccelent caster/analyst, cya man have a great one :)
I gave up DOTA a few months ago and haven't looked back. Good luck Slahser!
It's a shame you are finishing your dota stuff, but i'm glad you did a OD guide as the last one.
"But I didn't do it because I'm a scrub" - Honestly. Love this guy. XD
Wish you the best, please come back soon. Greetings from Venezuela.
This really works well with me. I've noticed from my own playstyle that invi and mobile heroes really work for me. It the hero is not mobile, shadowblade with do. :))
2:45 "i could have saved him but i didn't. because i'm a scrub" LMAO
I've really enjoyed your guides, and commentary since who knows how long. If you do enjoy playing Dota, find a way to control your time. Nice! I should probably try this to revamp my interest of playing OD again lol since I'm pretty bad at mid in probably any kinds of heroes
thanks for all the content you have been a great place to learn more about the game
Good luck Slasher!
Rip slasher guide 30 october 2015 =(((
DONT LEAVE US, SLASHER!

+slahser dota Hope you're ok dude, sounded kind of sad here. Gonna miss the guides. Much love from Ireland.
+slahser dota I think its inspiring that you recognize how much time dota is taking from you and are willing to take a break from it. I will definitely pay attention to your other channel.
+slahser dota Best of luck slasher will miss your guides
+slahser dota steamcommunity guide please=)

+Exist64 how can you get close to enemy core slark, am etc. heroes with mobility, you don't..
+cKy TV ok yeah but it works on any non escaper. and if you can silence them even slark and am are dead
+Exist64 For ganking Shadow blade is better. Specially if you can get it early like 12 min and before then you can get a few easy kills.
I CALLED THAT SHADOW BLADE I FUCKIN CALLED IT.
In your honor, I made the slahser guide ((:
long live the legend
SLAHSERRRR! Good luck on your way B)
You will be missed Slahser :(
Shadowblade who saw that coming Kappa
anyway pretty cool guide though i love OD and its been forever that i have seen him in play will try this for sure
btw iam still w8ing for techies slasher way no mines max stats rush mask of maddens
Dammit, man, I just discovered your videos. I hope you come back eventually, just take a break for a while and enjoy life. Just do whatever you feel like.
Hope to see you back sometime, i love your stuff =)) greetings
we
Slahser, who now will provide trolly legit guides on how to play "Maiden, no boots offlane"? You will be greatly missed!
Really hope this slashers end turns out similar to the "end" of na'vi.
This seems allot more informal than your other vids and im not sure if i like that or not.
everything is a good offlaner to you.
What about Force Staff into Orchid? That's how i tend to build him, mobility into Orchid for more ganking as well as attack speed.
Noooooooooooooo. Slahser's way BibleThump
Dont quit dota slasher!
hey slahser, thanks for the od guide, but i still have a question about the skill build: should i max essence aura like how you've become the essence of dota, astral imprisonment like how you've imprisoned my heart, or sanity's eclipse because i'll go insane if you leave the scene? :*(
Good luck with your studies! :)
HAHAHAH THAT LYCAN AT 4:55
I'm gonna miss your videos :(
Have you considered rod of aui on OD

EDIT: NVM; I'm stupid; didn't finish vid.

Nooooooooo more slahser's way pls!
Hey man do OD build change after he got reworked after ur video? (gaining int from arcane orb now and not astral imprisonement)
what a spooky episode. you tricked us into thinking you're leaving! right? right?? ;_;
What's your thoughts on OD with Aghanim and Refresher?
please don't stop making videos
Summary. 2 Rampages in 3 Days with OD Offlane (in 7 games; 4wins, 3loss)
Nooooooo! Slahser's way is law!
Tears were shed T_T
Wouldn't Force Staff be a better idea than Blink Dagger? It helps with your mobility but also helps with your dmg.
+Scott Rothman astral + blink is a get out of jail free card
Man that's a Danish accent if I ever heard one, rødgrød med fløde!!
Dont leave us slahser :(
Why is there still an annotation on the side saying "I'm live on Twitch, start watching!" BibleThump
slahser, how do you play OD with his recent changes in 6.86?
