So kryptonians can't age to and pass 45?
And wearing nothing else
I had a beanie-copter propellor hat just like Beanie had on the Beanie and Cecil show.
Same people have dolls on their book shelves.
I don't need a cape to feel like a superhero, that's just cope lol. I feel like a superhero when i wake up, see the sun rise over my off grid gardens, the flames in the fireplace from the pile of firewood i chopped, the running water, the electricity i created myself up here in the mountains and "in the woods".
I depend and rely on myself for all this stuff, and as a result i have cleaner water from my tanks than they do in town, i have more reliable power, an infinite supply of wood, no bills, and all the time in the world for self actualization and to pursue my passions.
No cope, i mean cape needed.

I repeat can the straight people get a month where we can celebrate? Cause if I hear someone "you have the rest of the year" where we are told we have to respect everyone elses "proclivities."
I have a strange idea... let's get rid of all the months, keep the alternative lifestyles away from the kids and you can do whatever you like in the privacy of your home. Like the OG gay chant said "keep the government out of the bedroom"... then keep the "sexytime" in the bedroom.
let's make the whole year a straight pride
National White Month, International Men's Day, Straight Pride Month...what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Defund it all and do what Morgan Freeman advised over a decade ago and stop talking about it.

Wearing a cape doesn't turn anyone into a super hero. Neither does a fur suit, or having weird fetishes.
"From the BBC..."
Well that tells me everything I need to know about this article.
‘Have a little bit of fun’ Not if you’re British
"Oy! You 'ave Loycence on tat fun?!"
I have no problem with furry as a "thing". What I DO have a problem with is furries that scream that "it is NOT a fetish" or "it isn't sexual". It is. Most certainly. And as such, there is a time and place for such, and being in public/around kids is NOT it.
It's not always sexual tho, some just like the animal so wanna dress like it, sorta as a cosplay
You are right and wrong at the same time.
There have always been the fetishists. I would even go as far as saying that they created the entire thing.
But you really cant say that there are no actual... cough... "spiritualist" in there like the otherkin who use this stuff solely and sincerely only because they have some kind of identity crisis and feel that they are merely a dragon or a wolf trapped in human skin.
Its a mixed bag. A mix of equal parts of "you dont wanna go there".
Are furries as a concept a fetish? No, otherwise Looney Toons wouldn't be a thing. Do furries have a lot of trouble keeping it in their pants? Absolutely. And as a furry myself, I'm fucking tired of it
my friend kind of introduced me to some "furry" related info... all i can say is that in most cases furries have problems and very often oversexualize things or are sexoholics, orgies, blackrooms with going around to different rooms etc... and as every 'holism' is a way to run from problems, they more often than not have a lot of problems and need psychologist to work out a childhood trauma or other things
I have a problem with the whole idea, it's creepy af and tells me not to let kids near any freak who is one.
The problem with the furry community is the dynamic range of people in it. We have more than a few people who are, for lack of a better word, total freaks...and they will invariably *always* show up at conventions. I like my OC because it's a better version of me, but you don't see me in a fursuit, and you don't see me being a letch on random passers-by.
I believe they call people like us "normal", for the most part.
I think the duality of this is seen in the comments of a Den of the Drake video when he covers a Furry TTRPG horror story, Half the Furry comments is "Not all furries", the next sizeable chunk is the Furries (Really Scalies) being weird because the channel mascot is a cartoon dragon. The last little bit actually addresses the story and or lessons to take away.
@@ZedRen-s8g The "Not all furries" excuse just shows a wide spread lack of accountability within their community.
@@Cowboycomando54 I think that’s why they get shit on so much. They can’t keep themselves clean and it becomes everyone’s problem
When you see shit like this, it really put in perspective why God had to destroy Sodoma and Gomorra.
Honestly (and I understand your sentiment) the stuff going on back then was so abominable nothing in the modern West even comes close. But again, I get what you're saying.
Pardon me, but Sodom and Gomorra happened because of stuff like the T in lgbt. With ppl demanding... "access" to other people's.... "personal" spaces.
As ironical it is, i always tend to bring up that Furries were the original "i identify as something else" group, but they never ever went to the same level of insanity the T ppl did, demanding their races and self identifiers to be speech mandated or put into passports.
I dunno bro we had a major pedophile ring bust with hundreds of underage minors being trafficked to apparently no one since one culprit "Epstein'd himself' and one takes a fall but not a single john has been brought to justice in hundreds of child grape cases...we might be just as bad as Sodom and gahmorra its just what the politicians do is kept so well into the shadows no one wants to actually acknowledge it's happening even in the face of irrefutable evidence that it is.
Could you honestly blame him after seeing shit like this?
@@jjjmadness8306 it's deranged, yes. But don't forget that in those ages, the things going on in those cities "the platform" will not allow me to say or else delete my comment. Things like this don't compare to what brought His wrath down onto those old cities.
We haven't begun to reach that territory. It can/will get MUCH worse.
as a furry I want to say we can no longer disconnect because our community has been filled with activists.
What do you mean by "disconnect"?
Cause I don't know about you, but I'm a right-wing Christian furry, and I have been forcibly pushed out of online furry circles because of it. And frankly, I'm okay with that. I don't want the headache or stress of having to fight people everywhere I go in my own fandom. I'll just happily stay a solo furry.
@@Snow-Willow thats the unfortunate misunderstanding alot of people have the fandom got taken over by the activists. Basically the MLP and furry community were ground zero for this stuff I remember watching them go from accepting anyone to suddenly driving out anyone who didn't agree with the "approved messenge" say around 2014-2016. While these other communities hate on the furries they don't realize they are fighting the same people who took over the fandom they just keep moving to different fandoms till they control it all and no one can hide. I agree best way is to go solo. I do the same with anime the communities get so toxic sometimes it distracts from the fun. But occasionally you can still find decent people if you look hard enough.
@@Snow-Willow by disconnect, I am referring to the culture war stuff like identity politics. I also remember when we pushed yall out and the fandom seemed fine for a while but then it started it eat its own tail after either it became filled with activists or people became activists.
@ want to know the biggest irony rn? I am now a non practicing christan rightwing furry by definition of the changing times.
@@Snow-Willow similar experience. I have few friends who are furries, i have acquaintances who are but i have to keep them at all arms length and hide my beliefs around them. At conventions i have to pretend to be someone entirely different just to be able to enjoy the hobby.
Its a funny world where i would sooner tell a christian stranger about my hobby, then tell other furries anything about myself at all.
Shame too, sometimes you meet people you can just tell are putting up a front too, like passing another ship in a storm.
I know furries and they hate how popular media put a light on them.
They said the fetish weirdos invaded their cons since the 2010's.
Tho I'm sure putting on a suit to act like animals is a fetish too.
Their cons have been compromised since Confurrance 0.
As an insider, I can tell you that it has been infested with sexual shit since literally the very first convention.
It was, is and will always be completely pervasive throughout.
There are those for whom it is just a bit of fun and there's nothing sexual involved, but let me tell you they are few and far between.
And any attending of a convention will have anyone understand this within the first minute. It is wall-to-wall degenerates, with a few almost normal people sprinkled in.
And most of them are commies too.
I roll my eyes and think "tip of the iceberg " looking in the direction of a McDonalds recreation on VRChat and finding furries are mild by comparison.

0:10 as a furry myself I strongly disagree
Ehhh, in general yes I agree, but there are instances where I would agree with the headline. Like for those furries who go to children's hospitals in costume to spread some cheer to the sick kids, I would call that worthy of being called a "superhero cape".

Ah no. I might be a furry but I hate fursuits or any uncomfortable costume that limits my visibility, movement, and breathing. It's basically like being a mascot and only fun for some people.
Same. I love the look of some of the suits, especially the ones made by Clockwork Creature, but I would never be able to actually wear one.
Now look I like seeing a sexy catgirl or catboy from time to time, but I'm not gonna dress up like that and go out in public. People really need to keep their fetishes to themselves.
I've always been of the mind that media attention on the furry fandom is just unnecessary and will probably lead to more negativity than positivity.
It's just... "Why?", we don't need to push that shit onto the general public. Those that are interested will probably find it themselves.
Also we in Scandinavia got a larger furcon than the scotts :p
It's a nice escapism thing, but I wish it wasn't so colonized by progressive politics - Wish it was less focused on politics.
The funny thing is, most furries agree with you. Or at least they did, (not sure what the current feelings are in the fandom).
I've been a furry since the early 2000s when the CSI episode came out that catapulted furry-ness into the spotlight in America. Almost instantly the reaction among furries was, "we don't want any attention, just leave us alone". There was a rule in the fandom that you don't talk to the media or cause attention. How it got to this state, I have no idea.
Well, 100% agree with your comment about it being infused with progressive politics too. That's part of the reason I don't engage in furry social circles anymore is because I'm right-wing and a Christian. I am very much not welcomed in the modern furry fandom. 😅
@@Snow-Willow Yeah I've been a furry since the early 2000s myself, and I recall the lil fandom in my nation was rather split on media attention because of just generally a lot of negative media attention around furries in the USA. (not to mention the Tyra Banks incident :P)
I honestly don't know what most furries believe anymore, if media attention is fine or not, politics and so on.
it feels like so many in the fandom is at the stage of "If you don't agree with me on 100% of the things I say, then you are my enemy". I definitely ain't passing the "purity" test as I'm more right-wing myself. I don't engage much with the fandom anymore either. I never really did tbh, but I've definitely noticed the fandom getting increasingly political over the years
Just remember...someone took the time to write a serious article about this. I hate journalists so much it's unreal.

Something something defund something something BBC
There is plenty of stories of DEI invading a furcon's event and panels with POC requirements.
DEI infects a fandom. Kicks everyone out. The infected thing withers and nearly dies...
DEI uses its new stolen gains from the last infected community and follows where they fled to.
While I may not care for them... I do fear where the fans shall flee too... And where the loonies will chase after them to infest.
Furry genre vs furry lifestyle
Yuuuup. I like furry stuff because the character design and even personality is a lot broader than purely human ones, but I ain't going to no cons.
This is the best comment I've seen. Sums up exactly how I feel. Cons are so disgusting.
Would it be accurate to call it a spectrum? There’s some cool stuff in the genre but I’d never go to a con and avoid engaging with the community at large. Those people can get really weird…
@@Psykodeer Supposedly in the past the cons were more like anime and comic cons, more "look at my cool drawing, buy my merch, go to a panel on storytelling structure, hey I'm doing this animation project . . ." and a separate, screened off section for adults only stuff, and I suppose the largest cons might still be like that simply because of numbers, but the smaller, grungier cons? They pretty much started pretending it wasn't a fetish thing around the same time they started pushing for furry acceptance in schools. Jus' sayin'...
A faustian bargain was made with pride events for free publicity basically and then the horny side just completely subsumed the entire subculture which then led to the overlapping school acceptance campaigns.
No they didn't, might look like that if you've only been online for a decade or so but those of us who've been around longer remember. Furries pretty much kept to themselves until about 2003 when CSI aired an episode that had a furry character in it, and from then on, the community had to do damage control. It had its 18+ side the same way anime does but it also had always had its non 18+ side.
So the BBC is saying being a furry is more popular than superhero yeah it's hard to take the BBC seriously these days.
As an Englishman, I’ve never wanted my license fee back more than ever.
The Vault uniform on display at these conventions says all you need to know about the new Fallout show
I am a furry and I am so ashamed by this crap. So many times I have complained on how "members" are dressing in public (like adult men going around in skimpy school uniforms(without fursuit)). The rule should be simple: if you cannot wear it at work than don't wear it on conventions/in public. Most furries don't care about this alphabet crap but the rainbow has infiltrated the fandom and now speaks loudly for the majority even so they are just a minority. Normal furry enjoyers either leave or are getting bullied out of the fandom. Jeez every fandom these days turns woke and degenerate.
That's the worst part is the bullying I hate how they try to attack people who welcome them with open arms. It sorta means being so open the fandom let in its own destroyers basically is how I see it. It sucks to because there are so many chill furries I know and a lot of crossover with anime my other favorite genre but it's like the small group of progressives can't let anyone have any fun and attack anyone who step out of line or don't have approved opinions

'Like Wearing A Superhero Cape' eh? Well that sure explains a lot about the state of Marvel and DC...
Friendly reminder that loli shota and furry is the same shit but different side of the coin
Loli oppai is the good loli (IMO)
Yeah I don’t use being a furry as my identity, I like being a furry but I don’t make it everything about me
"Its not what it is about"
Funny I remember in the 2000s seeing the 4Chan posting of the flowcharts that attendees of such events would create in order to spread the gifts that keep on giving (STDs), and recently the memes about hallway pizzas, and the turn towards full leather strap setups for having fun events with harnesses.
You might not think it is about extreme fetishes, however you do nothing to PREVENT the extreme degenerates from operating in the same spaces as people who are basically doing far more elaborate cosplay.
I don't feel like I'm wearing a superhero cape...
Someone got caught comissioning some "art" and is desperate to gaslight everybody before his friends mock him to death
the whole identity thing used to make sense because of the whole persecution thing but now that we are heavily merged with the rainbow crowd stuff gets weird.
"Minorities talking has been catastrophic to the reputation of minorities"
There are some words missing from the title, it should be "Being a Furry is like wearing a superhero cape to your job at the bank, and you are 46."
True.
"Prefers not to reveal HUMAN identity". Claims it's not a fetish. Cosplayers aren't scared to reveal who they are, while you hide. Sure, it's not a fetish.
"Nobody cared who I was until I put on the suit"
Things like this are why I call myself a false furry.
"The whole 9 yards" isn't a sports analogy, it's a military one. The whole 9 yards of Browning M2 belt.
AVENGE ME BROTHER! AVENGE ME!
*plort* 😶😦😧😨
I think the anthro girl characters depicted in furry art are often hot, and would be all over them if they existed IRL. But I don't get the fursuit thing.
Whats the point of dressing up a Cindarella? Answer that and you have the answer why furries exist. Its cosplay.
Of all the things the left had to infiltrate, it didn't bother with the furrier ones...
Instead; Star Wars, Star Trek, LOTR, and all the fun fandoms are targeted instead.
This world wants me to suffer...😑
Oh, they are heavily infiltrated too. It's just harder to spot the pink and green hair among all the fursuits.
If anything the furries were infiltrated by the other end of the extreme spectrum. There are an awful lot of furries in uniforms posing before a certain 30s era German flag...
Furries can be some of the wokest loonies you've ever seen. The furry fandom has been totally hijacked by radical leftists for the past decade.
Blatantly untrue. It was actually fine to be a conservative furry before. But after about 2012, the progressives started to get a foothold and now the furry fandom is a terrible progressive hellscape. They infiltrated everywhere.
What are you talking about. Furaffinity has a BLM section. Leftists are rampant.
I don't really care, not a moralist but not with taxpayer funds of any country's citizens for Christ sake.
