Thanks Danny King for showing your airplane. It was fabulous. You made me the most envious of anybody and anything for many years. We flew together in the American Airline cockpit. I retired January 1, 1996. 2 years earlier than I should have. We were with a great airline and enjoyed a fabulous career. Captain Everett Medlin retired.
I sometimes ‘meet’ someone via an interview like this one, where I think, That’s a really cool guy; We’d be friends if we lived nearby. Danny King is the most relatable, accomplished, admirable, appropriately proud brother who seems like a genuine fellow. Huge admiration for the thoughtful quality he built into his RV8. Even (much) more admiration for the red blooded aviation dude he seems to be 😎🎩♠️💙
Nice RV8! What a nice guy. He reminds me of my mentor who was a retired United B747 Captain. He has built an RV4 and I got to fly in his beautiful RV4 many times in the early 1990s when I was just a fledgling aviator. RIP Hank.
Nice video! I'm in desperate need of upgrading the panel in my 20-year-old RV-8A and you've shared some great ideas that I'm sure will help me a lot, thanks!
Thanks for sharing Danny. Clearly, your RV 8 is the best thought out I have seen. I built a Lancair 360 with an IO 360 B1B. Had I known about Vans, I think that would have been a far more useful choice. Here in Australia, away from prime airports, some of the outback strips would be better suited to planting crops! Lancair UC mains are very small in order to fit into the wing. I did same with fuel sellection and my radio stack came out in one unit. I ommited the header tank and fitted a removable hatch, This way I could remove the hatch and the back of the panel was easy access. Enjoy your beautifun RV. Kind regards, Barry M. Australia.
Thanks so much for posting this very informative video. I am considering buying an RV8. The first two planes I owned were a 1974 Citabria and a 1946 Globe Swift with 180 hp Lyc and CS prop. But I got tired of the constant maintenance on the Swift, and the restrictions of working on and upgrading an old certified aircraft. The VAN's RV8 is becoming ever more interesting to me. My first choice was going to be an ACA Super Decathlon, but the X country performance is, as you know, lacking.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful airplane with us. Such great inspiration! I’m just finishing up the RV8 empennage section, need all the motivation I can get!
Great video, great airplane....but I could not stop looking at the gorgeous bird in the hangar! I think it's a RV-14? Also glad that he finally explained that yellow wire dangling about - it was driving me nuts.
Great quote, "I can't believe I enjoyed flying spam cans." After 50 years of flying, if there wasn't an RV-8 I would have quit after retiring from the airlines.

I've never watched a finer video. Everything about this, from the plane to the commentary, is just incredible.

Great share. Beautiful planes to fly RV-8’s.
Very special airplane, love the RV-8. Great review.
What a great presentation, a real beauty aircraft, excellent fit and finish!
My wife doesn't like the RV8 seating but I wish she did because they are probably the coolest looking RVs of them all.
Just a beautiful airplane and an outstanding build , thank you for sharing Danny
Beautiful. Doll. 😉 Always a favorite.
Great video. You seem to be a great guy. I wish all pilots were as friendly as you. PS I'm also a pilot.
Absolutely amazing work. Thank you sir for sharing.
I really enjoyed the walk through. It looks like a perfect RV8 to me! I fly a light sport. But I think the RV-8 is my favorite of Vans.
I need one of these to hop from kansas to Wisconsin
