- My husband James Pratt is building a 24'x60' pole barn in our back yard to house trucks and a tractor. He is videoing the process as he builds it and showing you the steps so you can build your own barn.

Thanks a lot for these videos.....this one is especially helpful on laser use for footing and strong-tie setting. I am 69 years old and have to build either a garage addition (large one) or construct a separate 30 by 30 approx. outbuilding. Thanks again.

Is there no building code where you live? You have no footings below the frost line?
James Murphy parts of the south , don't need them never freezes more a couple times a winter, strict building codes we have a thing called hurricanes.

why even bother with that tube? round hole in ground..tube is pointless right?
If the ground were perfectly level then you could get away without using the forms. Otherwise there will be places where the concrete needs to be above the ground level so you need something to hold it.
You also potentially save a lot of concrete. It would cost a lot more to just fill the holes.
the ground sucks up too much water from the concrete so now alot counties require the cardboard mold

+Mark W Sheesh. What a sharply worded comment! James Pratt (the guy in the video) seems like he enjoys talking more than typical builders who tend to be taciturn by nature. But I actually prefer his verbosity because I am a novice who needs simple yet detailed explanations.
Also, please keep in mind he's not likely to earn money from this video or UA-cam channel unlike, say, extremely popular UA-cam channels that earn money from AdSense. In other words, James Pratt is very likely sharing this information for us out of the goodness of his heart.
Finally, UA-cam has myriad videos on this subject. There's nothing wrong with this video per se, it simply does not appeal to you. Why not simply move on to another video instead of unfairly criticizing someone because he likes strawberry ice cream whereas you prefer vanilla.
