- DIY PART 2 - Building a roof for my Humvee.
This video documents me building the roof for my HMMWV. I go through the planning and thoughts behind it and then move on to fabricate the struts and wedges and mount them. Unfortunately, It was raining and couldnt bolt the roof panels on, but didn't want to delay this video, so I pushing it to a Part 3, meanwhile enjoy Part 2
I ordered the Roof panels from a local Steelworks company. Sent them my diagram and requirements. Race City Steel in Denver, NC They are awesome, I'd highly recommend them.

Thank you. 😎
Thank you for Sharing this process. Great Job!
Thank you Addams.
Looking awesome!!
Thanks man. Nearly there. Gotta finish in time for our show end of month. 😅
love your work bro, I have a 1993 Marine Corp m998 I am restoring a peice at a time right now myself and your ideas and work really help me stay focused on the job. keep it up Great Content!
Thank you Jason. Much appreciated. Both ours are 1993s 👍
You do some seriously good work!
Thank you Sean! I’m just a simple guy trying to make my way in the universe. 🙏☺️
@@MyHumveeMathilda What's funny is your converting to a hard top....I converted mine to a soft top! (desert tan). I kept all the parts just in case I decide to go back....we'll see what happens!
I really enjoy your videos. I have an M1025A2 that is in great shape and I just got an M1151A1 as a parts truck and I moved the slantback parts over to the M1025 (it came without its "turtle shell"). The windshield frames and c-pillar beams of hard-top HMMWVs are different from soft top variants. I could have saved some $$ if I went your fabrication route, but I got the newer version shell that mounted right up (8 man lift to move the back and the roof, each). With the added weight of the armored top components, the 1025 rides much better now.
keep up the creativity and great work!
Thank you!
First of all, I want to say great videos. These have been beneficial for my Humvee remodel. I just finished watching the installation of your hardtop, and I want to ask you about any lessons learned or things you would've changed on this hard top build?
Thank you for the kind words. I’d do everything the same, except I’d replace the self tapping screws with slim nuts and bolts and maybe a couple of rivnuts. I might do that still over time.
Dude! Seriously another great video! I really enjoy watching you work on your rig. I almost wish you would include the scenes that you leave out. You could fast forward through them. I enjoy that editing that you have going with the fast forwarding and all. But I guess it's better cuz it leaves a viewer wanting more! LOL
I have one question for you, since you installed your doors I saw that gap on the right rear between the C pillar and the top of the door. It's been agitating my OCD LOL. How do you plan on closing that Gap I'm very curious?
Anyway I wish I lived on the East Coast I definitely get together with you for a few beers.
Cheers Man!!!
Russ, thank you for your very kind words. I really love working on my rig too. Gives me peace and also the pride of knowing I’ve worked on every little inch of her when I drive it. Yes I have been meaning to get to that gap near the C pillar and also the gaps near the two front doors next to the mirrors. Luckily you can’t see those or your OCD would really peak. Lol. I do plan on filling those gaps with either a triangular piece of fabbed sheet metal (riveted in) or fiberglass. Aluminum might be better. 🤔 and yes wish everyone were closer so we could have a huge HMMWV get together, with a beer fountain. 😆
