My wife and I flew to Anchorage back in August of 2016! We actually were at one of the areas you showed in this video... Alyeska Ski Resort! Took the skytram all the way up to the giftshop/ restaurant at the very top! I have not forgoten that beautiful day, loking out over miles of snow-capped peaks and forests...and the tiny towns scatered far below in the surrounding valleys! A magical experience to be sure! To see it from the air in your video is nothing short of breathtaking! I keep trying ( in vain ) to make out the ski lodge, restaurant where we ate and the skytrams! But, thank you for the incredible flight over those majestic mountains bathed in the last rays of a late afternoon, Alaskan sunset!!!

@@aps_ak7088 called Alyeska ski resort, only major one we got here in Alaska. Got a small day ski resort called Eagle crest directly across from Juneau on Douglas island, yet not close in comparison! We do have the best heli skiing in the world though!

Thanks for the beautiful scenery. It was a nostalgic trip for me as I used to sail these same waters when I lived in Vancouver, and would take 1 or 2 weeks off to sail. The most beautiful sailing in the world.

I live here in Alaska, was lucky to work on a small cruise ship in Southeast Alaska on 9 day cruises all around baranof, chichigof and admiralty islands where the big ships can’t go! No place even compares, except Kodiak island and the area outside of Seward and Prince William Sound! Simple!😉

Flew to Alaska with my father back in 1993. Departed Boston with a 2.5 hour delay while mechanics tried to repair a broken toilet. Sitting inside that United Airlines 737 for 2.5 hours was not fun and the mechanics too never repaired the toilet. Landed in Chicago and had 45 minutes to walk around the terminal to get blood flowing back into the legs. Departed Chicago on a United Airlines 757 and landed in Anchorage. I remember the weather when we landed. It was cloudy and raining but five minutes later it was sunshine. That is Alaskan weather I soon learned but 90 plus percent of the time it was nice with no rain. Rented a Ford Explorer but if I knew better it would had been a RV instead. RV is the way to go there in Alaska. Our trip plan was Anchorage, Denali, Fairbanks, a flight to Barrow on Alaskan Airlines, Valdez and back to Anchorage. We planned our motels so that we would check in and spend the rest of the day relaxing and spend the next day sight seeing and stay the second night before heading off early the next morning. In Anchorage we took a day trip to Homer Spit. Really cool tourist trap with a pub that had woodchips for a flooring. At Denali we went on a school bus vehicle tour inside Denali Park. We took the morning tour which was great because the afternoon tour it can get hot inside the bus. We also took a helicopter ride in Denali which was sort of expensive but worth it. On the way to Denali from Anchorage was a breakfast lunch diner where we ate and took a rest. From Denali we headed to Fairbanks. In Fairbanks we visited Alaska University Museum, an outdoor Alaskan pipeline museum and directly across the street was a gold mining attraction called Dredge No. 8. Also in Fairbanks is a restaurant called the Pump House. From Fairbanks we flew Alaskan Airlines on a 737 to Barrow and stayed over night. In Barrow we took a school bus vehicle tour. After leaving Fairbanks we headed for Valdez and went on a Glacier cruise and saw plenty of icebergs which some were blue in color. Lack of oxygen on micro organisms inside the ice creates the blue color we learned. While on the glacier cruise we landed on an island occupied by native alaskans and had lunch there. From Valdez we headed back to Anchorage. From Anchorage we flew back home to Boston. I spent a small fortune on that Alaskan trip and every penny of it was worth it.

The cost varies greatly by carrier, time of day, and season. I've seen one way ANC-SEA tickets go under $100 in the summer, or $300-400 during holidays or spring break. Alaska Airlines isn't the cheapest, typically seasonal carrier JetBlue offers low fares.
