Dope! "Stuff the head uchimatta!" Happy new year. Hey sensei. Any recommendations on solo drills, exercise band work, or books? I often work late and I cant make it to my judo class. I was thinking of something I could do on my lunch break in my office that can help to off set me missing class.

This is absolutely me right now. As I've started recovering from my knee injury, I've had to start working more on feints and setups, and I've also been working my o soto and uchi mata a lot to make them both bigger threats on their own. This is a perfect pairing for me to work on tonight. I may try to get some others at practice to do the same :)

RvL and LvR are exactly the same in terms of context, positioning, and steps. Just do what he was doing with his right with your left, and vice versa.

Hey sensei if i was uke i would immediately start to circle in right side trying to free my left elbow and then do ura nage. Do you think that fake tomoe nage and just extend leg for right kosoto gake

Hi judo fever, Isa here answering for Shintaro while we're all social distancing. While what you're saying does make sense, this combination works best when you have outgripped your opponent and are in a dominant position. Once your opponent is outgripped and out of position, circling right will only open up the o soto even more. However, if you do feel outgripped, tomoe-nage is a great throw to go for!

    what dan is he?

Shintaro is a 6th dan (Rokudan). The white and black belt conventionally begins at 6th degree and goes to 8th. 9th and 10th degree are indicated by a solid red belt.
