She’s putting hairs down to keep predators away while she molts. It’s totally normal. So neat that you actually caught all of this.
i was gonna say that dang.
freaking smart evolution
what, how this keeping away predators please tell me
@@pakssmsjsjsks8596 I suppose the sheer amount of hair she kicks will cause one hell of an itch for anything that will get close to her ?
@@pakssmsjsjsks8596 Ill assume because a T's hairs are really irritating to predators, putting many down around where they would decide to molt deters any predator that might come near while theyre vulnerable, seeing as it would make the area very very itchy
imagine finally feeling secure and flipping on your back and then a massive being comes up and starts watching you
Well, at least they are only watching
@@jbzhummerh2gamer uhm
I would watch them
"Do you f*cking mind?!"
I can only compare it to us undressing before a shower.
LOOK.... STARE.....
I remember when AntsCanada fed his naturally deceased tarantula to one of his ant colonies. The ants that avoided the hairs were fine, those that got caught in them were either repelled, or got stuck and died. I'd wager that effect is why she lay down hairs first, to make it harder for them and other small critters to reach her while her new body is soft.
I love how you can see her intentionally kicking them down before she delicately lays a web over them. I'm assuming to both secure som hairs there as well qs to make a warning /trap line to alert her of enemies and predators that get in her proximity .
So amazing to see how smart they are, and how they use what they were given to accomplish so much.
It's normal, they put down the hairs to keep predators away while molting
Yup 👍
I knew that before :)
Little itchy land mines ❤
What do the hairs do to keep away predators? Sorry I don't know much about tarantulas
@@lauraanderson8785 i think it causes a hell of itching for other animals
I knew that some species of Tarantula lay hair, as defense, outside of their burrow and I want to say that Tom Moran (so unsure about this) made a video, pretty far back, showcasing this behavior as defensive behavior due to them being exposed during the moulting process. Cool video man.
What does the hair do though?? What does it tell the tarantula???
@@flvckoVLONE Its going to hopefully irritate anything that wants to try and approach the molting T and make them think twice
@@a8converterman thank tou
I remember I used to watch this channel 4 or 5 years ago back when he posted a lot about pissy.
Glad to see he's still active and posting the same stuff!
You missed so many good feeding videos my guy
@@MartinFireExotics Oh don't worry I'm starting where I left off!
I believe pissy died as well
Yhh Pissy died 😢
@@Scyclo - When did pissy die? I didn't see a vid about it. Last one I can find of pissy was 10 months ago and she was alive then.
Omg so beautiful. I absolutely LOVE spiders, I matter of fact had a golden weaver, in a rather unorthodox manner (she literally appeared one day in my garden, made her web and all of us just let her be, even the dogs didn't disturb her web) and more often than not i got her some insects for her to feed and all that good stuff. One day we found her web destroyed, and some stones on the garden. No trace of Mya (how I called her, without knowing if it was actually a "she") though. Hope she escaped and had a venturous life afterwards.
Omg the same thing happened to me with was a banana spider and it was absolutely beautiful 🥰 we fed it a few bugs for a few weeks then he left I think to find a mate maybe idk I do miss my little friend though 🥺
You’ve made me be able to look at tarantulas over the screen without having my arachnophobia kick in, but I just know if I saw one irl I’m running away while screaming😭
You’d run away? I’d just die 😅
It's really awesome you caught this on camera. It's so cool to see the difference in how gently & precisely they kick their hairs for protection while they molt opposed to when they feel threatened & kick them up into the air to try & escape.
@3:55 you can see that she appears to be leaking fluid which is a clear sign just before molting....As far as I am aware most New worlds kicks hairs on the web mat prior to molting as well. They do it as a defensive measure to ward off predators during the molting process. This was Awesome to see thanks for sharing... Great video as ALWAYS!!!!!🕷🕷❤❤🕷🕷
I believe she is surrounding the air and ground with hairs to help keep potential predators away during her molt. The hairs are of no use to her on that old exoskeleton after her molt, so it only makes sense to use every single one she can as protection in the air and ground to add a layer of protection while she is vulnerable. How exciting to catch her in the pre-molt countdown. 👍🕷👏🕸🤙
Human: flips
Exotics Lair: I sleep
Tarantula: flips
Exotics Lair: *REAL SH!T*
"She's an icon, she's a legend, she is the moment" - Exotics Lair, probably...to be able to witness the wonders of life like the beginning of the molt process is a sight to see
I’m scared of spiders but I still watch this
Everyone has to point this out on these videos 🙄
Same
i get over my arachnophobia while watching exotics videos
Literally same
Same lol
I'm guessing she kicked hairs as a defensive mechanism, probably to create a temporary radius to keep scavengers away while she is prostrate : )
I had a Honduran curly hair that did this. Not necessarily before a most either, but just for shits and giggles he’d web and kick hairs. I thought it was so weird, but after reading through the comments he was likely putting down hairs around his burrow (since he dug into the ground and would do this web hair thing around the top layers of dirt above the hole,) as a defense mechanism against predators. Interesting creatures tarantulas. You learn something new every day.
Think of the hairs as land mines. She's kicking them to keep herself secured to deter predators since out in the wild, they're exposed when they do this. This is brilliant natural behavior in action. She'd make a great military genius for our Korean People's Army, comrade. Brazilians like her are incredible and passionate, they are quite dedicated
This hair kicking molting tarantula is really taking her time to do her thing. She's in no hurry at all.
She is shaving! LOL , Mine does the same thing. And as stated already they do it to irritate anything that could possibly attempt to get near them while they are molting. My girl does it too :) Her name is Tweetie,... get it ... same species and about the exact same size. Love her temperament, very chill gentle giant.
What a smart spider. Premolt bed with her own hairs 💖
What an awesome amazing kick ass thing to catch on film. And it's funny how she did it when you left, but great you kept recording! ✌️ I can't wait to see her in all her shiney new glory after she comes out of her new molt. 🥰 Congratulations 👏 🕷️
This was wicked cool! So glad you didn't give up trying to get it!
Exotic:- *see's tarantula kicking hair's.*
Also Exotic:- (☉。☉)!
That was totally awesome to get that on video. Great job as usual EL!
Congrats on catching he flip! You can hear the excitement in your voice!! Cool video
This was the most beautiful thing to be able to witness man. Thank you for posting this
My seemani does the same thing then moults,no others do this .I think they do this coz it's easier to molt with less hair.. that flip was amazing.i almost reached out to save her..Well done catching it on vid ,she is so pretty.
Wow! That is incredible footage! Thank you for sharing and educating us!
So glad you got to witness "the flip", so interesting. Love your videos, informative and fun.
Hope her molt goes well ✌️ she is amazing
Edit: Okay, I got to the end!! Wow!! Way to go
Maybe you should do a series of night time filming since the T’s are most active at night. Not sure how to combine that w/ working a day job🥴 But my complements: this was one of the greater videos you did🥳
Something rather beautiful about seeing a tarantula flipping to molt and begin their next growth as much as I fear them it seemed like a peaceful moment
First time ever watching this in my trauntula history keep the content up I hope you will be successful!!!!!
Equivalent human behaviour is Kevin McAlister laying down Lego, baubles and little toy cars on the floor against wet bandits
Amazing footage man, congrats. 👍
My Boehmei never kicks hairs unless she's about to molt. She'll cover her whole enclosure in hairs as a means of self defense while she is molting. The hairs keep other animals out while the tarantula is molting.
Absolutely awesome, I've always missed when they do this, it's so cool to finally see one. Thank you so much for this. Amazing
Awwwwwwwwww I was so hoping you'd film the whole thing!
Her flipping is like when the raptor came out of the egg in jurassic park.
Hammond saying "come on, there ya go"
Music you chose accentuated the process perfectly, beautiful vid.
That was so cool! I'm glad you caught it on camera
They [the hairs] are basically akin to little pieces of fiberglass," said Steinle, who noted rubbing hairs off the abdomen is often a tarantula's first line of defense, rather than biting
For new worlds though. Old worlds prefer to bite
Yea but that’s just shows how old works can evolve
That’s awesome watching her flipping over, beautiful Tarantula, thank you so very for sharing ❤️😍🕷
this was so interesting i love watching your videos it helps me take care of my tarantula
THATS SO COOL!!!!! Maybe it's kind of like a partial defense mat to irritate oncommers 🤔 Dunno lol it was awesome to see the whole process though 🤩
Congrats on the shot you got! Awesome
i have to admit that i watch more tarantula videos than are reasonable, but ive seen the spiders kick hair in many of these molting videos and ive seen theories that they do this as a defnse against smaller organismes that may disturb the molting process like scouting ants and stuff
I just finish to watch !more than 5 years! of your content, im now zrriving at this video tonigh xD Continue bro ! i cant belived your are now at 3M sub
Hooray, I’m early! Also, I love your content man, keep it up!
There are a few species that kick hairs on their web mat as a deterrent for predators. The liquid in her joints is the fluid that helps her molt. This was amazing to see!!
That’s awesome to see ! Nice going
So glad you got that on film!!!
The way bro was standing when he faced the cam down was so funny😂😂 love these videos
Congratulations bro,you finally got want you've wanted
Awesome video dude
That's wicked cool! Great video!!
Makes sense to kick them all off as a defensive barrier pre-molt, you’ll be getting a whole new set anyway. To be fair though, I’m surprised you didn’t know this given how long you have been keeping. Lots of other comments have explained why they do this. But cool footage regardless!
I know next to nothing about spiders but if I had to guess it would possibly be to remove the loose hairs on the molt so as to reduce irritation on the new skin you know how when you get sun burned and days later the skin peels and the new skin underneath is sensitive I'd guess something like that since the hairs are used defensively it might irritate the new skin
I enjoy watching videos that teach me something. Thank you for posting!!!🧡
They’re actually really smart for taking precautions on molting and watching for predators even though she’s safe, she doesn’t know that. That’s satisfying!
It's so good to hear you happy after that spider mishap feeding, :,-)
When you turned the phone on to your legs and feet I lost it lmao
That was cool! I didn't know about this but I am just starting to follow your channel. Here is what I found on another website You may catch your premolt T laying layer after layer of web in a small area, and some of the new world species will actually kick hairs on the web as a form of protection. If you see this behavior, it means that your tarantula is about to molt very soon, usually within a day.
I had heard of this before but have not seen any of mine do that. Great video!
What a cool video!! Thanks so much for sharing!
Tarantula hair is the main ingredient in the classic ITCHING POWDER gag
That was really coo1 thanks for the upload 🕷️
Thank you for posting this! I have a male curly hair and he was mature before I got him so I've never seen any of the molting process.
So cool you got it on film! Awesome job!
Wowie that was amazing to witness this!
I was afraid she will bolt out again for a sec. 😂
Me at 1:30 am scared to death of spiders watching this guy and his babies. I have seen about all his footage. Me yelling she is just trying to get comfortable 😢 I kick off my pants too before bed too😂. Then find out it’s for protection!! Amazing.
I literally witnessed this for the first time with the same species about 2 weeks ago!!! 😂♥️
in breaking news local spooder does a a flip and flips back to normal as a happy spooder
Love your vids keep up the amazing work!
To be honest every time my Parahybana goes into pre-moult she does this, it's so interesting to watch them do it. I now have 4 T's because of you Exotics and I'm not looking back!
That was the coolest thing I have seen today. Thanks for the video...
Very cool Video! But i have a Question for you, do you also have Jumping Spiders?
Awesome video ❤
Congrats on 3 million I never noticed it
Yooo can we get this guy a 4K camera with micro lens 😂😂😊
That was the neatest thing I've ever seen in my life! I don't know about Tarantulas at all I've always been afraid of spiders but I came across your channel and Tarantulas are very interesting! So when they molt do they come out of their original skin? Can someone please explain it to me? I would have loved to have seen the whole process!!!
very interesting to watch the tarantula flip over
Rare recording! Nice work. 😉😍
Tarantulas also sometimes develop a bald spot on their abdomen that grows increasingly darker as the molt draws near (a bald spot can also occur in New World tarantulas that have been kicking off their urticating hairs). After molting, the bald spot will be gone.
So awesome! Thank you!
What a cool video! 😍
Happy Halloween and wall done to that spider
YOU ARE ALWAYS SO CUTE WITH YOUR ANIMALS
Ayo that's kinda sussy
As a former tarantula keeper and observed this beforehand, yes they do kick hairs before flipping. It still remains a mystery to me but I think it's because once they tear the skin in the abdomen part, it wont irritate their new fragile skin? I dunno but thats what I think.
I think she’s kicking hairs because she’s going to molt soon.
Tarantula shaving better than a Venus razor. Go girl, go! ♥
Yep. Tarantula Kat's Zelda did that. Need to watch your mate's channel ;)
🤔 I saw the comments about making a defensive area of hairs but I wonder if it also loosens the shedding molt? It seemed more like a stroke than how they usually kick.
Nice fade
Our girl did after molt don't know why but this was great to watch thank you merry Christmas to all
I got anxious when.you were filming other T's
Wow, amazing stuff.
Amazing footage
She knew you could use some cheering up! After the loss of your tarantula this week she gave you this cool clip!
