Very sad the history in Cambodia, i remember in 1979 seeing the news, its horrific what they went through .but the happiest people theyvare allways smiling.
Four years under Pol Pot occupation was like 400 years and you didn't know when it's going to end. I was lucky to spend only two years in refugee camp in Philippines but 10 years was very long. Pot Pot era ended in summer of 1979 but the prolonged civil war was officially ended in 1998 after the current government reunited all the forces. I was thrown in jail for a few months as my boat landed in Panay Island, Philippines before they sent me to Manila Processing Center. There are two kinds of Budhist practices there like Mahayana and Theravada. Usually as I know the monks are taking care the temple grounds and garden with the local volunteers. Also, each temple needs support from local donations like churches. Temple, Pagoda, or Monastery are the same where the monks live and worship. Each region or country is using different term and practices. Have a good day. Peace, ✌️
About donations in Baht it's not Thai people donating to the temple, the names of the donors are Khmer people. Reason why Baht is used because in Battambang and some parts of Cambodia that are near the Thai border, baht is the preferred currency as well as US dollars and Riela
4:22 វត្ត or Wat is basically mean Pagoda in English. Most Khmer people will just called them "វត្ត or Wat" in Khmer and Pagoda in English "Wat" is just the pronunciation of "វត្ត" I rarely heard anyone called them "Monastery". 11:50 it is a cremation. I recently started watching your videos and love all of em. Travel safely and I hope you'll have an incredible exprience here! ♥
I thought Vuthy around my age, but I am 8 years older than him. I been through life just like him before coming to the state. I lost my Mom and my three brothers during that war and I really appreciate your video. Thank you for sharing your great work to both of you ❤❤
"Watt" refers to budhist temple or monestary or place of worship. Pergoda and everything else are meant to keep up with this original word "Watt". Phnom pronounces like "Pnoom". It means "mountain". Krom pronounces like "Krome". It means town or village.

It is cremation place for people who don't have much money. It is free of charge in mostly pagoda. While you are in PP. You should visit the new museum called Preah Icanavarman museum. You will know history back over 2000 years ago of Khmer people. They charge money and no camera inside. Also should visit WAT PHNOM in centre of PP. Actually PHNOM PENH used to be first capital in the 14th century after Khmer empire collapsed in 14th century including flood in that time. So PP is the second time Khmer people moved the city in here nowaday. And before that the capital of Cambodia was at OUDONG MOUNTAIN in 17th to 19th century. Should visit that mountain it is about 30 kms from PP, it has relics of Buddha on the top mountain and some Stupa of previous king over there. So when you see any stupa in pagoda, they mostly copy style of stupa from that mountain as the previous capital era. It is Khmer culture and never forget where they were from.
Amazing stuff! Really appreciate all the information you're feeding us! Have returned from PP already but will be back there someday soon to explore some of these suggestions! Thank you 🙏❤️
Nice wander , the general architecture, Wat , temple & around BB is neat - Onya Sarah for trying green tea , I don’t drink coffee & the green tea varieties are great , the local guy on the bike sure has lived a heavy life - Well presented & look forward to some PP ✌️👋👍🙏
Nice temple - what an interesting and friendly man you met
He was indeed! Very happy to stop and chat for a while.

Those benches in that room infront of the golden color statue r for local students who come for classes there. 😊
Awesome! Thank you for the info 🙏😊
Battambong also uses Thai Baht. I think because of the province is close proximity to Thailand.
Well Pagoda is in English words for Wat, it's the same thing. In Khmer we called Wat.
There’s a lot of Cambodian works abroad. For example, at Thailand donated to the temple in Baht. Thanks for sharing your video ❤around the temple
Great video!!
11:51 this is a kind of cremation machine where they burn the body which is interesting and a little scary
In Koh Kong Baht is also used
Nice! Thank you 🙏
What a great leader. Very sad day. Good luck America in finding someone as able as he was
Sorry this was for another vlog, good wishes
Anyone who's was born before 1975 would have lived through that regime.
