Just got done watching your cliff fishing vid. In my younger days I would travel up and down the Northern coast of California, High way 1. Most of the my spots didn't have any ledges that were close enough to perch on. Bosuns chair it is. I would have my friend drop me off and I would then use the car barriers to anchor too. I would have to cover up the anchor point. The "Fuzz" wasn't to happy with me. Can't imagine why. LOL. Good memories. Thank you.
My very, very favourite channel, Gido. The whole world just stops when I see the 'pop up' and nothing else matters until it is joyfully watched. Legendary - Thankyou so much. A very underrated delicacy, those Salmon. Dad was a poorly paid WAGR fireman when we moved to Albany in '68, so Mum learned to cook them in many ways - all very delicious too. Curried, mornayed, crumbed cutlets and fresh fried. Wow. Dad & I fished your exact spot on many occasions and probably set some sort of record. We once caught 7 different species from those 'rocks'. Salmon, Skipjack, Silver Bream (or Tarwhine for the eastern staters), Herring, Sand Whiting, King George Whiting and what Dad used to call 'Jack Johnsons', which were a very black fish, usually under a kilo, with piercing blue eyes. He named them so because they fought like a tiger. Delicious eating though. Sorry to bore you. Wonderful memories. Found a lot of Japanese longline gear too, including glass and plastic floats. Keep an eye out for them, especially at the eastern end of that stretch. Camera work was delightful too, especially all those dolphins frollicking without a porpoise 🤣
Just discovered recently your vids, the quality and simplicity that you put on them are awesome...I'm a fan! Thanks a lot for your work and for sharing with us your fishing journey's, greetings from Portugal!
Hi, I just discovered your UA-cam channel yesterday, and you know what? It's Amazing!!! These are the most awesome and difficult fishing spots I've ever seen! You are really cool. Thanks a lot for your videos, and now I'm your subscriber!)
Waiting for new awesome videos!) I'll be home for a next few weeks. Because in our country there is general quarantine. ( What is the situation in your country? I hope you are healthy?
Giddo you are sooo lucky to be able to tap into species that are plentiful. I live on the Sunshine Coast in QLD and there is bugga all of the beaches here, except for bream ,whiting and dart with the occasional Flatty--- yeah Ive got fish envy
In nz zealand we call them Kahwai. They get that size and bigger. They are a fantastic fish to smoke. You have to bleed them straight away, and like you said great fun to catch.
This just popped up in my recommended. Pleasantly surprised with the quality of your work. Gunna check out some of your other vids to. Keep em coming mate & roll on Easter 🤙
Very good videos with beautiful views always. Magnificent catches in risky places. Just because you let go of the fish? Isn't it season or just sport fishing
@@gidosfishingadventures Just a thought, but Kahawai are quite good if you like kokoda / cerviche (fish "cooked" by lemon / lime acid, with coconut milk & chilli if you like it.) Still bleed the Kahawai, avoid the bloodlines etc. But because they have such a strong fishy taste, you can "fully cook" them, and still taste the fish afterwards
Sometimes you get them in estuaries and rivers but not fresh water. They don’t actually have anything in common with true salmon as they aren’t a real salmon
Loved the session with your old dog. I fish similar country near Wollongong NSW for rock blackfish and absolutely love the peace and calm the ocean brings with it. BTW, what's the toilet paper situation like in your area? It's spread to all groceries now and every shop which stocks them...complete mayhem, mate!!
yeh the shop situation is a bit crazy here too, not as bad as in the city but toilet paper is hard to find. might need a few more sessions like this to get away from the crazy haha
I was reading that one commercial use was for pet food, did you not notice how disappointed his fury buddy was when he released the second fish,, oh well he had a fish head as consolation prize.
In NZ we call them kahawai great sport fish not to bad eating fresh or smoked biggest ones up top of northland the kermadec kahawai can get up to 10kg heard they put up a hell of a fight
Awesome fishing bro enjoying the vids :) keep them up Monster salmon. Could you tell me your setup you used that day? Rod weight size and reel size line etc thanks heaps
I was using a Shimano 3 piece travel rod. Lure weight 10-25g line rated 5-8kg. I think its about 7ft long. Reel was a Shimano stradic 4000 with 15lb braid
You were out early. A bit of peace and quiet before heading into work. Wh as t do you do that you'd be working during the lock down? I sure enjoy your videos!
This was before all that and the town I live in never went into complete lock down. Actually right now we have zero cases in our entire region and only 7people got it and all recovered. I work as a carpenter
A lot of people don't like Australian Salmon or can't be bothered preparing them properly. They are not a true salmon & contain a lot of 'blood meat' which needs to be cut out to make them into a much better eating fish. They aren't bad eaten fresh & prepared properly but here in WA we have an abundance of better quality eating fish so many, including myself, don't kerp them for the table.
@@brettstanford Im a carpenter, never really considered UA-cam full-time as a possibility until recently and it sure does sound good. Travel and fish and make videos!
It’s only that nice on a very low tide and swell. Rare for it to be that nice, maybe check out Anvils. Another nice place that has similar reef but won’t need as good conditions, still needs to be calm but not as much
cut it up smaller to catch more salmon was the plan my kids are too young to be throwing lures constantly. other than that just about anything eats salmon. very good bait. or send out a big piece or live one for sharks

hellochickenman Yeah nah they’re pretty decent to eat mate. You just need to bleed them straight away and cook them the same day. They have a firm, white flesh and not many bones.
I used to catch Australian salmon in Sydney Harbour from shore when I lived there a few years ago. Love how they attack a lure and fight.
Cool man, nice places and clean beach too
