Ductseal is a good trick! I'll remember that

Done it a lot by opening needle nose pliers on the inside of what remains of the bulb and spinning it out that way

If the socket got corrosion and adhesion due to rust, still worth trying this method?

No. Buy a new fixture or pay to have the lamp holder replaced. Depends how attached you are to the fixture.
