This scene sums up one of the biggest lies about this movie. Michael Oher was one of the best offensive lineman in the state, BEFORE he ever met the Tuohy's. He got into the school because he was a great athlete. He also was a star basketball player. This was all BEFORE he met the Tuohy's.
This movie is basically saying the Tuohy's turned Oher from a flat slob who couldn't block into a 5 star prospect in ONE season.
If Oher didn't play sports, the Tuohy's would've never met Oher in the first place.

    • @steverogers7601
      @steverogers7601 11 місяців тому +5

The Tuohys saw the opportunity to make money off the kid and swooped in and took advantage
They made sure they locked in the potential money bag by tricking him into signing the illegal conservatorship which they are just NOW trying to end, after Michael played in the NFL and after him having a life and married no less.
This movie aged like milk with the whole contrived white savior nonsense.

In real life Michael Oher was already a great football player, his mom never did this and he hated this scene because he felt it portrayed him as dumb and unable to learn on his own.
Edit - For those of u saying "It's just a movie not a documentary!" I know it is, and I know changes have to be made for the sake of telling a better story, I get that. But it's gotta be changes that make sense, and it doesn't make sense for the film to have him struggle to comprehend how to play football even though he knew how to play basketball at the beginning of the movie. I think it also says a lot when the real Michael Oher claims the movie ruined the way people look at him.
2nd Edit - The news just came out about Oher not being adopted and how the film hurt him and his image since it came out. So for all of u in the comments who didnt believe me...
    Fuck u and have a nice day!😂😂😂

Except for the ACTUAL story which they (the family) made up to make them look like angels.
The real Michael Oher already knew how to play football. And you're fucking demented if you think some mom would walk out there and not get laughed off the fucken field... that shit NEVER happened. It was made up

Brilliant movie. Some people said that Sandra Bullock didn't deserve that Oscar. I don't agree. She was impressive and charming here. Quinton Aaron, Tim McGraw, Jae Head, Ray McKinnon were great as well. The whole film was very deep, personal, emotional & touching.
Just like "In Love and War" (1996), "A Time to Kill" (1996), "Hope Floats" (1998), "Crash" (2004), "The Lake House" (2006), this film proves that Sandra can act dramatic roles brilliantly well!

I've just watched an episode of "Fantom Works" on the DMax channel, where they restore 50/60s classic American cars. One they restored in this episode was a 69 Camero.
At the end of the episode from 2018, the owners of the car sat down with Dan to go over what needed to have been to be done to it. The husband was quite laid back about it. His wife was a fifty-something blonde, with a strong personality and seemed used to getting what she wanted, she obviously wore the trousers in that relationship.
There was something about the way she presented herself and spoke which seemed familar.
At the conclusion of the episode, it was mentioned, "just in passing," that they were Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy.
I thought Sanda Bullock got her personality and mannerisms, just right. No wonder she won an Oscar.
