    That was a really cool video, that young woman has her stuff down! I raised 3 daughters, so I like seeing that fathers don't have to treat their daughters like they are only meant to wear dresses. I finally got it right on my third and she was a sport natural. Thanks for sharing this video, it brought back good memories for me.

    Just caught my first raccoon at 68yrs old! The Dukes 1.5 was tripped and flipped upside down, but the Dukes DP 30' away had him. LOL Just set the traps Wednesday afternoon and had him today! WooHoo! Got 7 more traps put out today after getting some Poli-fill yesterday. Hard to bed a trap in sand with fiberglass screening.
    Thanks for sharing your skills!

    Bottle necking the snare/restraint travel funnel is critical for sure. We have a lot of cedars here and their branches are prickly. Great to trim off a few twigs and jam them in the ground to block adjacent trails so the animal only has one choice to pass thru the funnel. Our sets here in Kentucky cannot be closer than 10 feet to each other so it is not possible to set multiple snares or restraints on all the travel funnels close together, side by side. Even a light snow can be magical for finding active small game travel routes. Thanks for sharing.

    Dumb question here 🙋‍♂️ .. I do a lot of coyote and Fox hunting on public land,,, do you trappers find it more easy to get permission to trap private owned property? Like it seems you’re doing a favor for a farmer or rancher by thinning out the predators? Is that the case, or is it still pretty tough getting access?

  • @Vernbubba

    So snares aren’t legal in Wisconsin ? Do you normally walk on the coyote tracks?

    • @mattthiessen516
      @mattthiessen516 Рік тому +2

      You always want to walk on their tracks. That's so they keep using the same trails. If you make a fresh track, it could get them going where you don't want them to go. The coyotes don't care if you walk their trails. The more packed down the trail the more likely they are to use it.

      I'm in Manitoba, so not that far from you. I have found coyotes want to walk the most used or packed trail. One set I made didn't work well on their trail because it was to open.
