Cobblestones (or any bumpy stuff): keep a _light_ grip on the bars & lift slightly out of the saddle. In short, let the bike bounce freely below you while you pedal.

The only good thing about cobbles is when you get off them back onto tarmac …. heaven !!

Funnily enough, I got off the bus at that bus stop last year! There are some great walks over the moors from up there.
That loop is one of my favourites but I am waiting for a sunny day before I do it again!

Do you know there's a sportive around Calderdale called the Ronde von Calderdale, it has 14 cobbled climbs, so you can ride in the best place in the UK & practice your riding the cobbles at the same time.

Rainy, gray skies look a lot like my home territory in Oregon (USA). ❤. A bike ride in the rain🌧 is better than no ride at all.
If you are not going for speed on the cobbles, pull out the gravel bike and air down the tires. Have fun and thank you for sharing.
    Cheers 🌞🚴‍♀️🖖

UK whether the weather is sunny or not, it's gorgeous in its own way (I am galician, not british brw). I kinda envy you, rainy weather aside here or over there, I fell on my butt a couple of weeks ago doing rutinary stuff and really really hurt my coccyx, so no bike for me in quite a while. Sigh. Nice to see another video of yours Katie

well, for the cobbles you could try larger tyres, lower pressure, wrap the handlebar with thick foam tape, and above all, be youself and all will be fine, enjoy it!

Hi Katie, I love seeing you videos. I'm a Brit loving in Australia and you, Francis, Chris Hall, Dave, and Juliet have really inspired me so so much, I'm riding everyday I can possibly can. I'm loving riding again. My dream is to come back to England (I consider England my home) and ride again with my bike and meet up with everyone. I just love cycling it's life and it's my passion which I lost and now discovered again.
Thanks so much again Katie for all your amazing videos, we in UA-cam land love watching your adventures c:

Try the old Tram Track next time you're in Trawden, cobblestones all the way to the top of the road that links to road to base of climb to Glen Widdop 😊

Great ride and video Katie. Enjoy the cobbles in PR, lots of really good advice in the comments. Wider tyres and lower pressure will add comfort and give you more grip. Like others have said relaxed arms and body and letting the bike do the work will help you glide across the rough stuff.

If you need training for riding on cobbles then Colne is the place to do it. My tip is look as far ahead as possible, keep scanning your line and commit to it, don't change your mind at the last minute because you might get stuck in a rut. Also they look more slippery than they really are for some reason but if wet keep off the front brake and keep your weight back. I just let the bike do the work and relax knees and elbows bent. Colne is full of back very steep cobbled streets that are sometimes terrifying in the snow! Good luck can't wait for the footage.

32mm Vittoria Corsa Next which I am really liking. I have only been riding them for a relatively short amount of time but I am impressed with the level of grip that they provide, their durability and comfort. Not the lightest tyres but still pretty competitive. You can also pick up a pair for a reasonable price online if you shop around.

@@StevieJD74 Riding 28mm tires of the same brand. Sadly mine are peeling tread from the casing. Will be switching back to ENVE SES 29s soon as I can get a set. Conti 5000s TLR aren't the same as the older ones.

    • @StevieJD74
      @StevieJD74 3 місяці тому

That is a shame. Not tried Enve but I know they get good reviews. Will look out for that on my Corsa’s but no signs so far. The Pirelli Cinturato Velo are also good. I used them tubeless but have moved back to tubes for ease of use and convenience. Enjoy your riding.

@@StevieJD74 I put a one inch roofing nail through the center of an ENVE SES tire. It held and I was able to make it five miles to my home. I pulled the nail and the tire held for another 100 miles. I got tired of the bump-bump and replaced it with the first set of Vittorias. They were destroyed when my bike was nicked. Also damaged both wheels. The good part is the tire is worn out, not damaged.

Not cobbles as you know them. Look on you tube. Be prepared to crash and/or for something to break. Ride on the crown of the road at the highest speed you can. People will be pushing past you. If you can ride on the edge do so.
