I selected this particular product after a lot (many many months) of research and time. In fact, I have wanted to buy one for years.. ever since Skate Park Pain #1, (video series).

Been a Team Associated guy my whole life, even when I raced. I wanted to buy a nitro 4x4 truck, when I grew up (about 20 years). I walked into the store asking for a TA truck. I purchased a Traxxas Revo, mostly because my local RC store (40 miles away) specialises in Traxxas and others. I was talked into Traxxas mostly because the cost of replacement parts and availability. I was absolutely shocked with what I got in the box. Truck, radio, awesome. A COMPLETE tool set, spare parts, a long travel upgrade for the suspension. I was blown away. And the new control system, with my iPhone. Awesome. Especially when breaking in and tuning. I tuned my truck in a few hours at a private airfield, met a beautiful girl who lives there, she bought a truck like mine, and we have been dating and driving ever since. Now we tune and race each other, it's awesome. I used to think Traxxas was a joke. Their customer service folks are top notch, when I had issues and sent me a new receiver. Simple as that, problem fixed and quick. Traxxas makes a great RC vehicle, very versitile, tuneable, cheap breakdowns. I do not believe I will turn back.

the raptor body was a great decision. i have a 4x4, and i got a Pro-line Flo-tek raptor. its bright orange. the body lines of it with the angled back of a short course truck are gorgeous. it was a pre-cut, so only a few of the holes were actually cut, but thats nothing a dremel cant fix. great choice, hope you enjoy it
There is absolutely nothing wrong with Traxxas products. I have owned several over the years, and have yet to destroy one. Love em' or hate em' they are a great product, otherwise they wouldn't be the best selling product on the market.
Oh well, looks like you havent read the Manual. Traxxas isnt shit, its the most awesome brand ever.

Best un boxing video I have seen. Really like that truck and glad to see it has BFG tires on it. Look forward to seeing that thing get jumped and beat on.

dj medic is the go to guy for rc. i traded my two fully upgraded crawlers for a slash 2wd and 4x4 so sweet love them so much i still love crawling but i love to biuld them so i dont mined leting them go i will just get better ones to biuld and get better a biulding them thanxs medic for all the info you have gaven me over the 4 years of watching your channel
My buddy has the ultimate and I've never seen anyone bash a truck harder then this truck. Honestly we have been trying to break it at this point and we can not. We have even been jumping concrete docks and landing on the hard concrete and it's still going. After 3 months he's lost

I have been hitting some bigger jumps with my Slash and noticed the parachute effect, especially when windy outside so thanks for the tip on cutting out the fins! Will definitely try it out!

Congrats on your first Traxxas. I myself have owned a bunch, and my first hobby grade R/C was the original E-Maxx. I've since owned two T-Maxxs, one getting an electric conversion right now, and I also have a 2WD brushless Slash. I thought the 2WD would be more fun sliding it around the corners. It is an extremely durable truck. I've gotten mine to 54mph with my GPS mounted on the chassis. Parachuting is also an issue on flat ground when you're going that fast, mine hydroplaned a couple times.

Hey medic. I have been wanting one of these for ages but just never had the money. I finally decided to build one from scratch bit by bit as I get the money. I thing there are totally awesome. Been watching review videos of the truck and they have not been one bad one so far. I order my chassis and a few parts so far. Waiting for them to come in. Thanks for sharing man.
What is so bad about a traxxas
Nothing. Nothing at all.
Nothing that would concern the typical RC enthusiast, but they're more or less crap for racing.
...Though the REVO and JATO had success in the Production MT and 2wd Nitro Truck classes while they lasted.
I like the hobby because I love to repair rc cars
The hobby shops recommend traxxas because that's what keeps them in business. They break all the time and get to stock and sell all the traxxas parts so that's why the push them so much. Which the Lhs are in a tough position cause they are trying to make money and with a traxxas they break all the time and keep those shops going. I guess a quality, durable brand is bad for business.
I just got my own ultimate slash a few weeks ago and i love it. With the included 18 tooth pinion and a 3s lipo it is scary fast and very fun. I wish it came with the telementry sensors for the radio and iphone.

just got the axial scx10 Honcho and i was amazed at how many parts actually came with it...and the rig quality was really great and so far i have enjoyed it...beat the crap out of it and havent broken anything yet:)

Recently decided am getting back into RC. Having done a bit of looking around, I have decided to go for this Slash Ultimate. I am looking for quality all round fun, I think this will do it for me. Part of my plan in the short term is to get a couple of bits to drift it round the drive and street, then back to standard when going out into the desert.

Hey Medic good choice! I have the same one and I have not been nice to it. I have jumped, launched, crashed, smashed, splashed, dropped and drowned it and it just keeps going. The only parts I replaced where the A-arms which i switched to RPM A-arms. Both bumpers have broke but not broken off so i haven't replaced those yet but I haven't had a a single bent shock which is awesome. Hope you enjoy your first Traxxas as much as I did mine!
I posted my video response just to show the Team RCE carbon fiber chassis with the magnesium bulkheads and A-Arms. Along with all the other goodies. It basically gets rid of the roll over problem. I fixed the rolling problem with mine by getting the Team RCE Chassis with the magnesium bulkheads and A-arms. It runs sooo good with it installed. I actually runs better than my Losi SCTE which is also decked out with the lighter chassis, carbon fiber shock towers and mamba monster pro with the 4 pole 3800kv motors on both. Best part is I put a Racers Edge body on my Losi. What a sleeper. Everyone is shocked when they find out my Slash is a Slash, LOL. I'll post a video tonight of 3 of my RC's.
YEAHHHHH FINALLYYYYY i have had one since they came out my ultimately favorite truck! i bought the 2wd and one day i go to the hobby shop to buy parts and a buddy of mine up there went in the back got the 4x4 shash and said check this out.... bought it instantly because the only thing i did not like about the slash is that it was only 2wd. great truck lots of fun very durable!
Ya man. The orange Beatle in skatepark 4 is my slash. Almost 3 years old now. She's takin more beatings than the oilers hahaha! Still goes like hell!! Ted has it right now, made magic smoke with it :)
traxxas has always been awesome for me, i've had the stampede since i was 3, and cant wait to get my funnycar
I have a Stampede 4x4. If you spend 30 bucks and get locked diffs the thing can do pretty well as a scaler. It's a pain changing the diffs back and forth, but depending on what you want to do it's worth it.
This is my second time watching this. As I could not find a good Unboxing.... So I just re watched yours! Reason being is I just bought the same one with the LCG Chassis.... I'm getting it in 3 days! I'm so pumped

Switch to LiPo. It's the Nimh. mine did that too, very expensive to replace. Watch your temps, and make sure you're giving your rig plenty of cool down time between batt packs. Weather is also a factor, hot summer days can cook a motor esc combo quick if yer not careful. Good luck & happy RCing

Such a sweet looking rig. The raptor body will looking AMAZING on it.
You'll have to upgrade the half shafts on the slash for any 3s use. I recommend teknos. I've launched the slash 30ft high done double backflips broken a a-arm. But i've never bent one. great product.
Over the past three months I've acquired a Bandit, Grave Digger, Rustler VXL, and Summit. Traxxas stuff is great!

Haha! After what I've spent on those, the E Revo will have to wait. It would be nice though..
You should consider looking for rollers. Pretty much the vehicle, minus wheels, electronics, servo and body. If you're upgrading anything like that anyway you'll save quite a bit.
I have the Traxxas Stampede 4x4 VXL for fun, the wheely's i like, and the losi scte 4x4 for racing, they be very strong,
alu chassis has the Traxxas Slash never as stock, so i think Traxxas is expensive for much plastic, i dont like that
Your gonna love it I had a blast with mine for the longest time but I sold it about a month ago because I got tired of center diff bearing blowing out just about every other run but other than that its an awesome truck hope you enjoy it as much as I did mine oh don't 4get to hydroplane it across the top of water its killer narrow creeks are the best for it hit it full speed and the sucker will skim across the top of the water that's like 3 feet deep
I'm getting a Traxxas Slash next month I can't wait to drive it I already have the Stampede 4×4 VXL monster truck so I think the slash will be the perfect addition
Hell has frozen over. There is a GOD!!! The slash 4x4 is incredible. I love mine. It's built tough. Done alot of crazy shit with it. You will love it. Extremely tough. Shoe goo and drywall tape go a long way. I love taking mine to the skate park for videos!!!

I loved my slash 4x4 ultimate. Great truck. Make sure to do the motor mount upgrade and mods to keep dirt out of the center drive shaft
just got a traxxas project truck from my wifes dad.. needs stearing servo, battery and a transmitter.. it came with a walock racing motor and a novak racer esc as well as the stock esc... hopefully i can get this thing up and running

I've seen lots of unboxing of slash but only this one I watched till the end :)
2020 and still relevant for sure.
I also found that cutting the "fins" in the tray don't do much for cooling and just let snow in. I run the mmp & 2400kv from the castle creations Mamba max pro short course edition. Its great on 3s, and crazy fast on 4s. I also made my truck into a monster slash 4x4 which I run proline trenchers and a body from an old (shorter chassis emaxx) The trenchers are great in the snow (almost a snowmobile track pattern) and increase the ground clearance of the slash so it doesn't always get stuck.
I want two of these rigs!! Seeing the unboxings just makes me want them more!
Good to see you finally got a SCT! Even as an associated sc10 (2wd) driver I can see why you bought the traxxas and honestly it was a good choice, for what you want to do with it its perfect and probably better for it than the sc10. I bought mine to race and I have beefed it up with rpm parts for bashing and its near bullet proof now haha. :)

I've had the Slash 4x4 for as long as it has been out and i have a few tips... get rpm stuff if it breaks! you will probably want to upgrade the esc and motor, ive got the mmp scte. and you will NEED new tires because the stock ones do not grip so well and one last thing choose your bashing body cause this thing love to roll!! nice vid btw. hope you have fun with it!!

This truck is what I was going to buy until I started watching RC Adventures. Still havent purchased the honcho yet. Might change my mind after a couple vids of this.
I wish my 4x4 stampede came with half of those goodies i've naturally put on every upgrade that came with. Only thing i'd really recommend you getting is the RPM a-arms and bumpers they are leaps and bounds tougher then stock. And its okay we can forgive you for driving a ford we've all been there at one point or another lol

Love the video and i've seen how hard you can be on the trucks. on another note my 2.5 almost 3 yr old son got me watching your videos. The wife and i have heard him on many occasions talking to his Hotwheels trucks and calling them Pinky, yes he really loves your wife's truck pinky.

I'm new to RCs and that's what the hobby store guy told me that's only reason I said that.. thanks for telling me the right thing. one of the metal pieces inside my plug is lose and I asked him about it and thats when he told me that.. that I would have to get better plug connectors if it stopped working.. but thanks again an it was your channel that got me into Rc cars and the traxxas slash 4x4 ultimate was my first then I got a 2wd stampede bad mistake shoulda got the 4wd one lol..
Medic your vids are the shiznat been watching for a long time, I'm like you a kid at heart with a new born. You should try a budget trail truck build with the venom safari creeper, I have one and it has been very good (minimal breaks) Lipo ready hope the little one is happy and healthy along with you and your lovely bride

i recently got the slash 2wd Rob MacCachren edition and i love the truck. its not the fastesttruck but its my first hobby grade rc, its a really strong truck i have rolled and cart wheeled this truck so many times and gets up and goes again. i only had 2 problems both of my own fault the motor went and i hit a curb and the front left hub came off wheel and all but went back on . its been a fun truck....i got it muddy the other day some pretty deep puddles one had the front end floating.
Hi medic, I've owned one of these rigs for a while and I hope this helps a little! First of all rpm a-arms, one of the most important upgrades! The stock ones are ok but they do break. Next the body, on all short coarse bodies the place that rips is behind the rear wheel wells, there's not much you can do about that other than cutting the body :l third the tires, meh there too hard and (for me) the glue on the beads did not last and the tires actually fell off! Sup Medic, Slash's r fun. Bought a used Slash VXL brushless for a cheap price, $100 still like new, about a yr ago. They r fun and very durable. Great truck all around. But still luv my Scalers. Have fun w/ it. Ull enjoy every second of it.
I am getting a vxl 2wd here soon and cannot wait and it also comes with a 2s lipo
Hey dude. One more thing. Three cell overheat all the time on me with the vxl setup. Used a cooler of ice to cool it down at the track until I put castle electronics in it. Hope this helps :)

Yo medic. Great unbox vid. I like the idea of the short course truck chassis etc however im not too keen on the body. I would love to see a slash with a short course buggy style body cos i love to watch the suspension doing its thing when running. this would be rad!

Glad it was good for you. I have had one smoke, my friend has had 2 smoke, and I know several other people with at least one dead one. I have found many cases (including my friends) where traxxas took forever to even get back to him about the status and then claimed he sent in an xl5 and charged $60 extra (after he already paid a fee) to get a fixed vxl back. The over the phone support is good, but sending stuff in seems to take forever.
I have a Slash in the mail atm. Thinking of doing an unboxing video as well, even though there are tons out there already.

this is interesting because the 2020 slash ultimate is so so so different now. LCG, telemetry system, beefy driveshafts and arms, metal gear servo, etc.
I had one and it sure was tuff and good for racing & bashing got 3 friends that just got one and will tell them to plug into RC Sparks for more info. Good Job Medic
