In rewatching this clip, it seems Fraiser with his "venus" line was invoking Freud in a callback to Lilith mocking him and using a post-hypnotic suggestion. Very subtle.

So even though it was the last day of the last month they get the entire year as a deduction. My granddaughter was born on 1 January. They got nothing for the calendar year preceding.
Technically, she left him first out of her own selfishness. Although to be honest, I think the writers did the worst job in the world and the way of handling Lilith's initial departure in the first place... They ruined a perfectly unique character in the worst way possible...

Either intentional (the writers decide to go in another direction for the sake of the show or to make a certain aspect funnier) or writers change often during a show and are not exactly familiar with the past of the show. As long as there are no extreme inconsistency, it is ok.
I know we're supposed to hate Lilith for what she did to Frasier, but let's be real, she went through a lot with him. Still clearly being into Diane, kissing his ex-wife, and pursuing Rebecca all while married to her. Frasier would've cheated, Lilith just so happen to be successful.

The former spouse, all he did was KISS her, not go to bed with her. It's not adultery. As for Rebecca, he slept with her AFTER Lilith left him and their son to go live in a bubble with her french scientist lover. She only came back when she realized what a nutjob she'd gotten involved with. Lilith is an entertaining character, but she earned the scorn and disdain she got from the folks in both Cheers and Frasier. She's definitely not the blameless, long suffering victim some of you are making her out to be.

Well, this initial reconciliation was just to instill a little bit of Hope for the audience who loved her in spite of the terrible writing they did in the first place that nearly destroyed the character. They tried their damnedest to redeem her through this double episode, and they did all right. But because Bebe Neuwirth wanted to put more of her attention into Broadway and theater, they decided to write her out of the Frasier TV series and just let her come when she could which was very sporadic.

Well, like in real life, some couples fight for their marriage. They don'tgive up after the first hard period they encounter. And sometimes it works and they live happily ever after, but sometimes it doesn't. There is a reason why 50% of marriages end in divorce.

I had heard that they initally wrote the two of them getting back together because they wanted to do a spinoff following Fraiser and his family, but Kelsey Grammer was only willing to do it if they wrote Lilith and Frederick out. Not because of any issue with the other actors, but just because Grammer felt that the mom-and-dad-and-baby-makes-three format had been played out.
@@dayschange2 There's differing stories, one also says they were gonna do the family spinoff but Neuwirth was too busy to commit to a full time series. It might even be a bit of both where Neuwirth turned it down so Grammer proposed his own idea he wanted to do anyway.
I think it's different when you're married, tbh. Plus don't they have a child together? A divorce is incredibly traumatic, and as therapists they both know what they're in for in that respect. Not to downplay any of the relationships you've ended, but the stakes were really high here (if only legally and logistically.)
