Sachs Spartamet start up

  • Just a little demonstration of a 1993 Spartamet motorized bike. She ain't pretty but still starts up like a champ after 3 months of sitting.
    Fuel: OMV MaxxMotion 100plus
    2 stroke oil: Fuchs Titan 2T 100S
    Fuel mix ratio: 1:100 (winter), 1:80 (summer)
    Fuel Stabilizer: Motul Stabilizer
    Gear oil: Castrol Axle EPX 80W-90

    I was very pleased to see that it make the same dreadful clattering noise as mine when the clutch engages. Even stripped my engine to see if there was anything wrong, but all good.

      It turned out to be a combination of the exhaust mount rubber vibration damper (SAX310230) and weakened clutch springs. Couldn't find the springs separately so I bought a new clutch (SAX310230).
      All is quiet so far, at least for a 30cc 2 stroke motor.

      @@mid700 Thanks for the input. In my case there is no wear as the engine has only done a few hundred miles (it was New Old Stock when I bought it). My solution was to set the idling so the clutch would drag a little, so no loud clack as I take off.
