So this may sound crazy because it’s like you are inviting the raccoons back but let’s be honest- they are coming back no matter what at this point, right? They are coming & digging up the lawn to look for food so what if you put raccoon friendly food out for them? Maybe they will leave the lawn alone. TRUST ME girl!!! I had a raccoon problem at my first townhouse- I used to be a smoker 🤢 but I was outside one night and I look up at my steps, there were 7….. SEVEEEEEEN of those lil fuckers coming up my porch stairs. I couldn’t get to my door w/out passing a couple of them. They started raising their arms & bodies, they make a honking/groaning noise like a monkey. They smelled my dogs food through my French doors. I have never been a fan!!!! So I want to help LOL WE have to find a way to deter their digging.

I honestly prefer these longer style vlogs. Let me tell you Tara, you’ve been killing it with these vids. I’d rather you take the time to put out good/quality content without burning yourself out. These longer vlogs are a lot better than shorter daily vlogs that you have to force yourself to put out. These vids you’ve been putting out feel a lot more genuine and I’m here for it!
as an avid youtube watcher i would just like to say that i also get super overwhelmed with vlogmas!!! and i'm not even the one filming and editing everyday 😂😂 i seriously don't know how you guys do it!! but its incredibly hard to keep up with daily vlogs from all of my faves and it never fails that i fall super far behind and end up missing a lot of videos. i love the idea of people changing vlogmas to more of just uploading more than usual but not necessarily every day! anyways all that being said, you do you girl!!! the more frequent uploads make me sooo so happy but def don't feel pressured to post every single day!

Tip about the raccoons! You might have what's called chafer beetles living in the soil under your grass. I used to work at a pest control company and it was really common for raccoons to dig up people's lawns looking for food. They won't do that unless there's something there for them to eat. Chafer beetles are one of raccoons favourite food, and especially during the winter, when food is scarce they'll typically dig more. If the grass is important to you, you might want to look into chafer beetles more, and how to get rid of them. Hope this helps cause you sound frustrated about the grass, understandably! Tara - re the grass - what if you put down a net over the grass till it’s routed? It’s sometimes called “chicken wire” but we do it to keep our cats out of the pot plants. You should be able to get it from any gardening center

Tara! The raccoons are pulling up the sod because you have grubs in your soil and they're hungry! Treat the yard for grubs and they will stop looking there. Also, they used to make powdered blood, cows blood, and you could put it on your garden or in your case the sod and the animals smell the blood and stay away because they think a predator is in that area, just a trick you might try if they still make it, but definitely treat for grubs and the raccoons will leave your grass alone. 😉

Not going to lie, Vlogmas with you is my favorite and yes, the content is very good. It doesn’t have to be massively long but your vlogs the last few weeks have been longer than usual. You have it. Have you ever thought or have you ever put out an hour blog and cut it down to present over several days? This could be Vlogmas themed posts. Sort of a part 1 through whatever. It keeps within the theme and we get to see a progression of sorts. A Q&A on decorating tips and tricks, holiday PR hauls, holiday cooking and baking. Makeup tutorials. Room by room decorating. Celebrating with friends and holiday themed venues. Family and may I stress time with your family. Have you hosted a gathering with the family at your place yet? I know they come over but that would be interesting. Set up a table in that kitchen nook or living area. So many options to choose from. ❤
I saw a short UA-cam video about how to keep raccoons out of your yard. They use their hands a lot and they don’t like spicy things, black pepper, cayenne etc. She recommends to sprinkle your yard daily (especially after rain or snow). She said eventually they’ll stop coming.
There's protective netting to drape over your sod, the grass just grows up around it. No need to remove netting. Also motion sensor lights will help. Racoon's are nocturnal.
Even if you just post a meal prep of ten minutes every video does not have to be 20 min plus. Just spending time with you is nice.and you always do nice meal preps

I live in the country, so I feel your pain with the raccoons. We use a spray that helps deter them, but garlic is also supposed to ward the little buggers off. I love the striped pajamas you were wearing, they look so comfortable.
Okay honestly I LOVE this approach to “vlogmas”! Most of the time when I watch peoples vlogmas, most of the videos end up feeling like “filler” vlogs and they don’t feel as authentic and fun as normal videos. Or, people start out great, then somewhere around day 14, have a mental breakdown and disappear from UA-cam until after the new year 😂😂😂
They are digging up your grass to eat the bugs underneath it. Get the sprinkler I recommended. Also I would suggest buying a trap and relocating them to a different area. Raccoons are known to be creatures of habit and will continue to return to the same area once they develop a pattern.
Tara put a couple bars of Irish spring soap around the yard (I hang it on a stick in a net pouch) the smell keeps them from smelling the food they want.I do it for deer.
I recommend getting some diatomaceous earth powder and put it all over your backyard. Raccoons looks for grubs an you have a Nicely renovated lawn so your yard might be flooded with them. Also get you some all natural animal repellent spray. Hope this helps love you Tara.. your awesome an we understand vlogmas
If you rototill , put in amendments and really prep the soil well, then lay sod and keep it wet for two weeks (when it's warm out again) the roots should dive in more rapidly. Usually it takes about 2 weeks for the roots to connect. It appears your roots never connected to the actual soil. You could also just plant seed, but I have no idea what raccoons would do with seed. I would just toss that sod. Maybe the racoons will quit coming around for it if it isn't there. I'll bet the raccoons are after grubs and bugs existing under the sod.

That Truffle powder you bought last vid. I make popcorn on my stovetop with truffle oil, then I put butter and sprinkle with the truffle powder and poweder parm cheese. Best way to enjoy some fancy popcorn.
I'm so glad you are listening to your body and taking care of your mental health. Vlogmas seems like an awful lot of stress and work and you've done it so you know what it can do to you. The raccoons are going after food, thats why they are pulling your lawn up, so first thing I would try to get rid of the raccoons would be to treat your lawn for grubs since that's most likely what they are going after. Try that first & make sure you treat your lawn once a year or as advised by a local lawn care specialist.

Vlogmas is exactly like you described... not a lot of people have something to film or talk about for 24 days, and very quickly it starts to feel forced. So maybe just do one Christmasy vlog a week, and you could do tik toks every few days when you actually do something fun. Like decorating, wrapping gifts, shopping, to do lists, movies to watch etc. Either way I'm excited to watch you in december :)
I 💯 understand about the editing. I’m a professional photographer and I don’t outsource my editing because although it’s time consuming I really enjoy it. Do what you want to do. I personally am happy to have more content whatever that may be. Been here for years and I like seeing healthy Tara for 15 days than anxious, burnout Tara for 25. ❤

I saw a short UA-cam video about how to keep raccoons out of your yard. They use their hands a lot and they don’t like spicy things, black pepper, cayenne etc. She recommends to sprinkle your yard daily (especially after rain or snow). She said eventually they’ll stop coming.

There's protective netting to drape over your sod, the grass just grows up around it. No need to remove netting. Also motion sensor lights will help. Racoon's are nocturnal.
Update on the protective netting suggestion. You do remove netting after a month or so when the sod has rooted into the ground.
Go you for making it through the pilates class! Trying new workouts is really intimidating!
You can get bird netting and yard clips to help keep your yard intact.

I live in the country, so I feel your pain with the raccoons. We use a spray that helps deter them, but garlic is also supposed to ward the little buggers off. I love the striped pajamas you were wearing, they look so comfortable.

Okay honestly I LOVE this approach to “vlogmas”! Most of the time when I watch peoples vlogmas, most of the videos end up feeling like “filler” vlogs and they don’t feel as authentic and fun as normal videos. Or, people start out great, then somewhere around day 14, have a mental breakdown and disappear from UA-cam until after the new year 😂😂😂

They are digging up your grass to eat the bugs underneath it. Get the sprinkler I recommended. Also I would suggest buying a trap and relocating them to a different area. Raccoons are known to be creatures of habit and will continue to return to the same area once they develop a pattern.

Tara put a couple bars of Irish spring soap around the yard (I hang it on a stick in a net pouch) the smell keeps them from smelling the food they want.I do it for deer.
I recommend getting some diatomaceous earth powder and put it all over your backyard. Raccoons looks for grubs an you have a Nicely renovated lawn so your yard might be flooded with them. Also get you some all natural animal repellent spray. Hope this helps love you Tara.. your awesome an we understand vlogmas
If you rototill , put in amendments and really prep the soil well, then lay sod and keep it wet for two weeks (when it's warm out again) the roots should dive in more rapidly. Usually it takes about 2 weeks for the roots to connect. It appears your roots never connected to the actual soil. You could also just plant seed, but I have no idea what raccoons would do with seed. I would just toss that sod. Maybe the racoons will quit coming around for it if it isn't there.
I'll bet the raccoons are after grubs and bugs existing under the sod.

That Truffle powder you bought last vid. I make popcorn on my stovetop with truffle oil, then I put butter and sprinkle with the truffle powder and poweder parm cheese. Best way to enjoy some fancy popcorn.

I'm so glad you are listening to your body and taking care of your mental health. Vlogmas seems like an awful lot of stress and work and you've done it so you know what it can do to you. As long as you post some fun Christmasy videos over the next few weeks that's fine with me. It's more important to me that you are doing okay and enjoying life.

The raccoons are going after food, thats why they are pulling your lawn up, so first thing I would try to get rid of the raccoons would be to treat your lawn for grubs since that's most likely what they are going after. Try that first & make sure you treat your lawn once a year or as advised by a local lawn care specialist.

Vlogmas is exactly like you described... not a lot of people have something to film or talk about for 24 days, and very quickly it starts to feel forced. So maybe just do one Christmasy vlog a week, and you could do tik toks every few days when you actually do something fun. Like decorating, wrapping gifts, shopping, to do lists, movies to watch etc. Either way I'm excited to watch you in december :)
They are after what’s underneath the sod. If you can’t get someone to trap and move them, I would use cement to cover the soil.

I 💯 understand about the editing. I’m a professional photographer and I don’t outsource my editing because although it’s time consuming I really enjoy it. Do what you want to do. I personally am happy to have more content whatever that may be. Been here for years and I like seeing healthy Tara for 15 days than anxious, burnout Tara for 25. ❤
Don't push yourself it will cause you stress, do not stress yourself during the holiday season. No stress = more relaxed and happy season.
