- Learn how to make a DIY draught excluder with Corinne Bradd.
We’re all watching how much energy we’re using to keep our homes warm, and the last thing you want is a chilly breeze from a draughty door or window. Corinne Bradd’s homemade draught excluder is a great way to keep the cold out and the energy bills down. It can be made from scrap fabric and stuffed with insulation fleece or an old rolled-up towel, making it a fantastic stashbuster too. The double roll keeps the bottom of the excluder flat on the floor without the need to weigh it with dry rice - so it can also be chucked fearlessly in the wash!
To create your draught excluder, simply measure the width of your door or window, measure the circumference of your stuffing roll, and cut or patchwork your fabric to fit.

With an extra pair of volunteer hands, this should be a breeze! Thanks for the idea. As always, you make it look possible and worth a try. Thanks again.
Yes, it's really not as difficult as I make it look! I was trying to do it elegantly while being filmed 😄 c x
Thank you for the very detailed instructions. A tip I would like to pass along, when tying without the need to hold the thread tight you loop twice around pull and It stays in place. Hope this helps.
Yes, I always do this for pompoms. Should have remembered to do it when I filmed this! c x
What a fun and useful project! A scrap buster and use of an old towel, too. Love it!
and they really make a difference in my home, cutting out the draught from under the door, c x
Great idea - just what I need to use up the insulating wool that I can’t bear to get rid of. Thank you.
Thanks this is just what I was looking for! My husband has been getting medication wrapped in Woolcool. I’ve made a tailor’s ham and sausage stuffed with it, which works really well! My daughter wants me to teach her how to make a draft excluder, so I can use your tutorial instead 😂
I had my doubts that you get that wool to fit in that sausage skin, but what a great idea to fold it in half! I definitely need to make one of these!
Hahaha. I had my doubts too. Always like to have an air of jeopardy in my demos 🤣c x
Thank you so much. What a fantastic idea!
This was so useful to me
Great idea have the very thing you have used and didn’t know what I could use it for, so perfect idea. Will definitely give this one a try. Thank you for that.
Got any other ideas for what I can do with the other half a dozen rolls I've retrieved from the office skip? 😆😆 c x
@@TheCraftsChannel hehe. Not really, I was given the ones I have as the person keeps getting them and felt to good to throw away,, so I was so pleased to see what you had done with yours. I hadn’t seen them before. Maybe do a draft excluder for folk you know, maybe boring but at least it gets them out the way, and people in these times maybe very grateful. Try it with scrap materials. I think that’s what I will do with mine. It will at least cover most peoples colour choice, with no dominant colour. If you find any thing let me know hehe. I will do the same.👍
@@karentoynton8948 they do work well as draught excluders, my boyfriend is benefitting from the two in the demo! Keep meaning to put them altogether and just make a dog bed from them but I doubt they'll wash well... c x
@@karentoynton8948 oh, and I did use some of one to make new padding for a small ironing board! c x
@@TheCraftsChannel sounds good at least it would be well padded. Great idea, we must keep thinking hehex
Thank you for sharing this wonderful tutorial
If I told you how many times I’ve thrown that stuff out after getting a grocery delivery during the summer. This is absolutely genius!
Hahaha, it was destined for the bin but I tohught there must be a use for it. Just be warned, keep it somewhere that the moths can't get to it! c x
🧵👏🏻
I second looping the yarn twice before tightening. We have bugs that invade the house year-round so I will just hand-sew the ends shut flat to not provide any hiding folds.
Yes, I don't know why I didn't wrap it twice. Would have made life soooo much easier! c x
Здравствуйте, что это такое, изделие?
Это набитый рулон ткани, который вы прикладываете к нижней части двери, чтобы предотвратить сквозняки. c x
