- I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in and stops my mind from wandering Where it will go... Actually, just enlarging the center hole with a reamer. You will rarely come across this problem, but if you do, here's a fix!
Also, here's a link to buy one: www.amazon.com...

Clearaudio has an "LP Hole Drill" that looks like a screwdriver for $75. Glad I saw this video. I would rather buy a Reamer than get reamed by Clearaudio!
Yikes! Talk about the unnecessary markup of a simple tool!
Funny. As soon as I saw the title of this video I immediately thought of the Beatles song. Looks like the perfect tip to me. I will certainly try it out. I just picked up yet another Led Zeppelin bootleg. A newly surfaced bootleg from NYC in 1973. Now bootlegs are notorious for having tight centers. I have used drill bits to fix them before. But your method seems to work the best. You are always thinking outside the box Bill. Or outside the vinyl jacket. {smile} have a nice weekend~

Wonderful tip, Bill! Thank you!
Very simple and inexpensive solution. In my model building, I've used much smaller reamers and never had a need for a record spindle sized one. So far, I've only run across records that are a little snug on my turntable.
Thank you so much for this video! I bought a rare record from Italy today and I tried to put it on the needle but it wouldn’t fit. I was so mad, but I lightly twisted it a bit and eventually it worked
With records that are off center, just make the hole significantly over-sized, then center album visually to get it perfect. I usually put the tone arm in the cue-up position over the record while it spins and use it as a point of reference to line up the grooves (without the back and forth wobble). A pain but it works.
Refreshing to see a very useful tip, I might give this a try! Very cool WLP, I totally get excited about those.
I've used a knife and that works, but it could be dangerous. I'm going to get a reamer! Thanks for the tip.
Wow a great fix and simple thanks for sharing
Thank you so much, had no idea what to do untill I found your video.
A tapered body ball point pen does much the same to make hole the correct size without risking removing too much plastic and costs less. You can recycle an empty body into hole reamer. Its much gentler on the vinyl.
Steam it!
Ream it!
Cream it!
Three unreleased tapes of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young fighting backstage at the Fillmore East. All this and more!
I used the tip of scissors and it worked easily no money spent.
Almost every new record I bought this year was like that. I just took my dremel on the lowest setting and went around it twice clockwise, fixed.
I need to do this. I got a 2 LP vinyl. One was pressed perfectly and one is slightly too tight. Of course the tight one has my favourite songs on it
Fixing a hole where your record spins,
To keep the stylus from wandering
Where it will go.
Also make sure to get rid of any residue that can accidentally stick to the vinyl.
One of my first videos was showing this trick - though I just use a pair of scissors.
I only have two records and they are both very tight. I see a pattern so I'm thinking of wearing out the pin with sandpaper instead of widening the holes.
If it fits your playing table perfectly but is too tight to cleaning table, id just turn that cleaning table spindle with Sandpaper.
It was tight on all my turntables. You better believe I'm not going to take sandpaper to my Technics SL-1200!
Thank you...
thank u bro this saved me
Hey Bill, any ideas about the same issue on a 7-inch with large hole? I've got a few that just won't fit in the adaptor...
Could a Remer work to extend the hole of a felt platter mat?
But an off-centre pressing and is nothing to do with an off centre spindle hole. They are two different things. An off centre pressing is just that -- pressed off centre. Whereas an off centre spindle hole is created off centre. You can actually get both on a badly pressed record.

Like B.O.C. said, “don’t fear the reamer”
Or something like that.
KISS? How about KANSAS? Meanwhile, thanks for shooting video #WideScreen #BANVERTICALVIDEO
I keep a fingernail file by my player just for enlarging tight holes.
So you ream your record's little holes if they don't want to play right.
