I was intuitively intuitive eating
I had never heard of the term until today, but i had learned of honoring hunger and fullness cues. I personally do have a little extra weight, and because of that when I started doing this, i did lose some weight
It's slowed down to a half a pound to a pound a month, but im feeling good and being healthy where I'm at
I resorted to IE because Lose it got annoying. I am sick and tired of calorie counting. My body knows to make sure to incorporate gentle nutrition because of everything else.
LOVE, thank you !
Thank you, Rachel McAdams.
Hannah can you talk about Zoe? I am in a recovery program where we are not supposed to promote diets and someone continuously promotes Zoe, saying 'its not a diet' (sound familiar?)
Hi Hannah! Can you do a series about each principle of intuitive eating?
Good idea! I do have this video that goes over all of the principles ua-cam.com/video/MJeC0TSOzLk/v-deo.html and I also have covered the principles on my blog! www.healthwithhannaht.com/blog/the-ultimate-guide-to-start-intuitive-eating
@@dietitianhannah Thank you so much! I feel like the last two often just get brushed over.
I love your videos btw.!
I don’t think severely overweight people can do intuitive eating successfully, because they need to be trained to eat Whole Food diet with some unhealthy foods. You don’t become obese by eating apples you become obese by eating highly processed high calorie foods.
While I am interested in this, I am doing Slimming World and have found it helpful to be part of the group and to have some guidelines to follow.
I highly dissagree. Saying intuitive eating is not for weight loss leaves all of us who want to lose weight with 2 sad options: either stay overweight or diet for the rest of our lives. You're doing more harm than good with this advice. People who got fat didn't get there by eating intuitively. They got there by NOT listening to their bodies! Overeating and NOT honoring their satiety ques! This is wrong on SO many ways.
Intuitive eating may lead to weight loss for many (especially those who are above their body’s set point weight range), but it is not an intentional weight loss tool. Calling it a weight loss tool just turns it into another diet.
Hi Ashley, Hannah has said IE is not for weight loss. We are all built differently and metabolise foods differently. Some bodies can handle carbs which is sugar, some can’t, sadly. I believe overweight people like I was have a lack of understanding of how our hormones work in regards to weight. Have a look at Dr Jason Fung, he’s very thorough in explaining. Bless your journey ❤️
*"Saying intuitive eating is not for weight loss leaves all of us who want to lose weight with 2 sad options: either stay overweight or diet for the rest of our lives."*
That's an interesting way to phrase an objection. So you aren't even accusing her of being factually wrong... instead you're basically just saying she's "wrong" because she's saying things some people might not want to hear. That's not a legitimate criticism.
*"People who got fat didn't get there by eating intuitively. They got there by NOT listening to their bodies!"*
By not listening to their bodies? What is that even supposed to mean? People get fat by having a calorie surplus. Barring certain rare diseases (which you don't have), a calorie surplus is the ONLY way you get fat, full stop. Anyone who says otherwise is willfully ignorant.
@@uthmanibn-jafar1159they said that people become overweight by not listening to their bodies because they ate past the point of being full/satisfied. ( not a dietician so just speculating )
@ashleyi have a third happy option if you still want to lose. Let me know, okay?
Hi Hannah I liked this presentation, thank you. It was balanced, well done. I am stuck on the keto lifestyle which at first to reverse TD2 which i achieved. Now I avoid most carbs with exception of berries, veges, salads. I watched you eating toast on one of your vids and was dribbling lol, but I have a fear of carbs now which led to td2. What is your opinion of keto? Thanks. Shiralee
Thank you for the kind words! I do have a video on the keto diet ua-cam.com/video/X-zBfHAFDVk/v-deo.html as well as a podcast episode www.theupbeetdietitians.com/episodes/our-unbiased-thoughts-on-the-keto-diet
