Nice new toy for sure. Great for some building planes like you do. I'm not sure i would $$$ out as i only do one every year or so. Great video,i must say.
Great tool and in investement it matches up with the total-price of most scale-jets. Very, very smart design. Noticing there are "alternatives" for the Xicoy-set, it's interesting to know if thes will fit the "pucks". Any idea what the size is of the square pucks in which you place the Xicoy-scale?? If the square size and diameter is clear, I can check if this RCCG-Machine also fits the "alternatives" one. . . . opens the market al little bit more maybe. Thanks
Thanks and Totally Agree. So many have such strong feelings that spending this much on a quality tool is crazy. In Michaels "how to" video on his site he is using wireless pucks. Not sure if they are Xicoy units or another brand but the area where the pucks sit are slightly oversized. So the Xicoy pucks have a bit of wiggle room
@@thelightersideofrc Would be great if it suits/fits more "Xicoy-variants". Do you maybe have some measurements (square sizes and inner-diameter) so I can check overhere in the Netherlands? Appriciate 🙂
I like it it does take the pain out of doing all the measurements. The Xicoy is great. The hang method works good too though I used it for my Pilot RC F-16
Just ordered mine today! I have been much like you stated in the video, I have the Xicoy system but it is just a pain to get the numbers. Great job bringing this product into the light.
Hi, do you always only use the landing amount of fuel when measuring out the plane? If the fuel tank is not placed at CG that must affect the CG with full amount of fuel then.
As a general rule, CG is always set up when the plane is in landing condition. Obviously the further away the tank is from the CG point the more affect it has. I will sometimes check the CG range from full to empty and in between, but ultimately if the plane becomes more nose, heavy when full, there’s not much you can do about it
Gosh. That is a useful piece of equipment. I can remember having 2 modellers, one each using their index finger to guesstimate the balance point of each wing tip and lifting the craft to see whether the the nose went up or down. Rocket science at its conception.Lol. Thanks again Jonathan for keeping us all in the now. Cheers mate. T
Great idea, I went a different way. I use lasers to measure and to transfer c of g to table. Of coarse I had the lasers , I use them for work. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Jon, I understand comments where some guys sais that is too expensive for a few aluminium pieces to cg a small aircraft but I also understand guys who will invest that price to be sure of the life of a $20.000 aircraft during the first flight. I think it's quite normal that all kind of aircraft has the appropriate stuff to go with... If you buy a Porsche don't expect to buy new tires the same price as your mom's small car tires. Very good video as always Jon 👍👍👍.
Finally somebody who knows what they're talking about I like your comment exactly. You don't buy a $20000 jet and take a risk. Thanks for knowing what you're talking about. Maybe some others will read this and get it finally
Hi Jon, why not make a video about the total cost of a ready to takeoff jet aircraft who is difficult to imagine for a lot of people I think (I'm sure even for thousands of the channel viewers who love that). It's quite easy to find the price of the aircraft kit or the turbine on the web but the total with all the onboard stuff that's not the same... thanks, David.
Hi All! I just received my RCCG Machine and I can tell you the quality is out of this world! Yes the price tag makes your eyes open a bit, but this is no different than when you are shopping for quality tools of any kind. I can tell everyone, in no uncertain terms, that you are getting your money's worth on this purchase. I was simply blown away by the craftsmanship, quality, and care taken with this product when I opened the case for the first time. Even the tools provided in the kit are high quality, definitely not cheap china crap. For those of you who step up and purchase one of these, you will not be disappointed!!!
Thanks! Yes unless the tank is perfectly placed over the CG Point. Generally this is not the case and it's slightly in front of the CG Point. Always CGing in landing condition.
Thanks Adrian! I'm surprised at the number of folks that seem to be emotionally upset that this tool has been created. Your very right! investing in something like this is a drop in the bucket when you consider the price of a few jets. Best thing to do is contact Michael and see what he can do for shipping. He has just brought this to market so it's small production and all USA based construction. The Fees to get one into Canada weren't too bad.
@@thelightersideofrc may be pricy (sorry if not well spelled) but when you have been in the hobby for so long (40 years now) and going with +18k models at this moment , if you save one its worthy! Obiously your have a building service, so better investment. Will contact them 👍

The total with postage to NZ came to are ya sitting down $168 American..... 🤪🤔🙄🙁😲Yeah Nah.Keep at it chap. 😎
Great to see a new product come to market but I don't understand how this helps regarding precision provided that the user still has to center the wheels on the Xicoy sensors. If the centering of the wheel isn't exact, cg could be of by a few mm which is exactly the same problem as measuring.
Quite simple. It eliminates error in measuring and speeds up the measurement process. Unit levels so you know it’s level. On a garage floor or a bench/table on a garage floor it will typically slope to the door.
Oh so true !! I measured incorrectly ,entered that data. Balanced the plane accordingly. On the maiden flight. Plan was tail heavy. I don't use it any more. It's just too easy to make a mistake.
Thanks for showcasing this, but for me at 1200 and balancing a plane every so often it does not make sense. I have had the xicoy 'pucks' for almost 3 years and have never had an issue measuring CG. If I was a builder like yourself I would consider it.
This makes sense for someone in your position. For the general hobbyist such as myself. The xicoy is just fine. I may cg a plane on the xicoy once a year or every two years. So it’s just not justifiable for $1200. This is bad ass though. And if it made sense and I had that kind of money, I’d definitely get one. However at the end of the day, $1200 for just a ruler system, imho, regardless of the convenience, is a bit high it seems.
This tool and the xicoy scales together prob cost more than some of the planes I fly lol....I hate being broke SMH....I live vicariously thru this channel
Of course you need all the same measurements. Having used a yard stick, tape measure. Masking tape, plumb Bob for many years now this is a huge time saver for me.
Use a plumb Bob to get the front wheel from gear measurement and string a line between the mains and run measuring stick perpendicular to the main fr exact measurement and simplicity
Oh for sure! Great tools are worth the investment. For me it totally makes sense. I HATE laying out the plane and taking all the measurements on the ground, marking it on the tape ETC. For the time savings alone this is worth it!
@@thelightersideofrc totally agree for a serial builder like yourself to automate CG measurements. The tougher part of the process for me is constant CG adjustments trying to improve flight performance. Challenging to judge the optimal spot, especially for 3D jets
