One main reason I got the 2023 Taos was because of the dual clutch transmission. The transmission had to break In but it shifts smooth and quick plus all wheel drive 😁😁😁 I love the panoramic sunroof, physical buttons on the steering wheel, adaptive cruise control and I like the in dash radio cause I'm not a fan of the tablet screen look. VW literally gave me every feature I wanted and then some 👍👍👍 and great review by the way!!!
I also got the 2023 Taos coming off a Buick Encore. I have been so impressed with the features and stuff that VW puts into this price point. I absolutely love it.
While true, I wouldn’t trust VW’s hybrid as they haven’t produced this tech and will be new to them that will take a very long time to perfect (look at Toyota and Honda) they can’t even get their ICE and EVs up to par with the Japanese (Toyota, Honda & Mazda) in terms of quality, longevity and reliability let alone new hybrid tech
If you mostly drive highway or mixed traffic, I actually don’t think you need hybrid with Taos. I get 32-35 MPG in mixed traffic and 35-38 MPG on highways
Ill keep my 2024 SEL (Highline) 4Motion, I know What The 7 SPEED DSG Is doing, made some changes with " Carista " changed throttle to " direct " and steering to " Dynamic " and It made huge difference.
Love my 7 speed dual clutch in my 2023 Taos SE with all wheel drive. love the quick and smooth shifts. So I wouldn't buy another taos since there is no 7 speed dual clutch available anymore.
I think they are a great looking car. So glad we are getting some fun colors again in a sea of grey, white, and black vehicles. I also like to the 2 tone interior. VW always has classic timeless design that ages well. I’m glad they are providing a more affordable vehicle to the market. I do worry about reliability with all the plastic they use in their engines. Glad they have good horsepower for the segment. Would prefer physical climate controls.
I had the previous model and I think it's a nice car. Thank you for those reviews, You're wonderful together, By the way I'm watching your videos from Iraq 😊.
The lag that they talk about in the beginning would be less dramatic if they would switch it to sport before gunning it. Sport mode keeps the turbo tune on the ready if you will
I want to believe the powertrain issues were fixed, but then again the Taos was on Consumer Reports least reliable vehicles list and infotainment still seems dated by 2025 standards. Even the cheap Nissan Kicks and Chevy Trax have big 11" screens standard.
Consumer Reports gives the Taos a “below average” rating that is based on the 22. I remember looking at Consumer Reports and seeing that most cars improve over the first year.
I have been watching your videos for over 18 months or so. Watched your 5 Best Compact SUVs for 2024 a couple of times and then test drove Kia Sportage Prestige model. My wife and I were very impressed and we ended up buying it earlier this year. Thanks for the honest review of the 5 SUVs. Enjoyed watching your test drive of Taos 2025 video. Our second car is Taos 2022 which is leased and will be going back to the dealer in six months. Can your please do a comparison video of Taos SE 2025 vs. Subaru Crosstek Sport 2025? That would be great. Thanks you.
Overall I think this Taos is very good. I love the blue one. The green one is ok because if you park over on the green, you can’t see it. 😉😆 Great show Andrea! ☕️☕️
I drove a 2023 Taos, I loved the feel of the car, but for the gas/brake pedals. they were too close together for my giant freaking feet. I was not crazy about the transmission and it acted up sometimes and just stuttered and died on me a few times. Otherwise it was fun and it felt fun to drive. I wish VW had a better rep for reliability, I would get another and have the pedals adjusted.
Another great video. I am a VW Audi fan but Volkswagen isn't listening to anybody. People have been complaining about the radio volume knob power symbol rotating when changing the volume for over a decade. Ford does it and VW can too but they don't. No one likes piano black which seems more costly since you have to polish the mold. No one likes haptic buttons or switches. There are right-hand drive versions so an electric passenger seat should be standard. The rear armrest shouldn't have cupholders where your elbow goes. I could go on but most people probably haven't read this far anyway. Thank you.
I really miss rear windows of suvs working independently of the tail gate. Idk why the Bronco Sport is the only one where it pops open. I would trade in an auto open tailgate any day of the week for that option.
Looks like they are moving in the right direction , good city vehicle ,smaller version of my Tiguan. Just hoping VW can get their German labour issues and sale turned around soon . Really have grown to love VW coming from a GM vehicles.
I am kinda dispointed with VW I have owned VW and Audi since 1990 and I loved and hated some models. Throughout the line up they put up some good vehicles, one of my favorite SUV was Tiguan but not the American version but European short base model, I was disappointed that VW America didn't bring here they missed that mark on that, and then came Taos , smaller than Tiguan little larger than Golf, there were higher hopes that something better will come, however I started to get disappointed with this model, not only choice of options but engine, Come on VW are you kidding me putting 1.5 engine ? this is more insane than it sounds , and this excuse with not putting power tailgate just another excuse to save money come on ? , if you google VW t-roc R version that is available pretty much around the world has more choices in power and options; that small SUV is a bit smaller than TAOS -->> VW T-ROC HAS POWER TAILGATE !!!! , and 2.0 liter engine that put out close to 200 hp VW America what kinda new excuse you will put out to public ? VW has canceled wagon models in both Passat and VW golf versions and now they can't build nothing right , I was hoping that for facelift finally they will add power tailgate , better options for interior and exterior and as well better engine and finally R-line option which it seems every model has it but not TAOS.... I had higher hopes to see better but this is far from disappointing coming from VW
Love you guys.. so unique the way to do a car review I'm thinking to get this Taos 2025, or a pre-owned Tiguan SEL-R line for the same price.. don't know yet. haha
I have a 2024 with DSG. Calling bs on 2 second lag. Its drives really well. Anyway here to say the Kumho tires it came with are absolutely rubbish. That road noise you mentioned. The Questionable Reliability can be solved by offering a five year bumper to bumper warranty which would increase consumer confidence in VW products to match consumer financing standards, usually five years. Great Video from a Marvelous Couple!
I really think all brands should offer standard 5 year bumper to bumper warranties considering how expensive vehicles have gotten. And you're right, 5 and 6 year loans are the norm so having warranty coverage over that time would be huge. I purchase the aftermarket warranty from my dealer but it would be much better to have that guarantee from the car manufacturer.

Zach will always say the cheapest car is the one you currently own. He's right. The gas might cost you more but you'd pay that and more in higher payments on a new hybrid.
I love to hear your typical complaints about “shiny hard plastic”. I agree but it's just funny for some odd reason. 😁 P.S. I'll be on the hunt for my first AWD SUV within the next couple years. What are the key differences between compact & subcompact SUVs? They are both larger than sedans/cars. Are three-row SUVs considered “full-size”?
Touch HVAC controls... Noooo! Especially in Canadian models, I hate this. I'm driving with my gloves for a lot of time, despite having a heated steering wheel and they only work with really thin gloves. I don't really mind the lack of heated rear seats or power liftgate. It's the bottom model of the compact SUVs. I want the cost kept down. If I want more luxuries, I'll buy an Audi. I always love that you guys cover both Canadian and American features and prices.
While I get it, and agree, I have the touch HVAC controls in my Venza and honestly, it's not really a big deal. I set my temps 3.5 years ago when I bought it and haven't touched them since. That said, I do prefer the buttons and dials.
In practice the HVAC controls here are million times better than the 22-24 Golf GTI / R. The capacitive touch points work with gloves, just FYI. This just proves you've never actually tried using the system.
I love the look of the previous generation especially in SEL Trim but this new look is a real let down even the rims are nothing interesting too bad the inside and power bump is nice.
Just had the head gasket of my 2023 replaced after 23000 kms. Not impressive. I am totally fine with the DCT but my wife hates it. Overall I like the car, but probably wouldn't lease it knowing what I know now. Thats why leases can be great! Great review however.
Good review. I'm glad they changed transmissions and a hybrid would be a great option. How do you see this stacking up against the new ADX? also, the Seltos does come with a much longer warranty and lots of folks feel that VW is lease and return before repair bills.
The terrible noisy road surface you ialked about is called Chip and Seal. It is a chearper way to construct roads, we have thousand of miles of those miserable noisy roads in Arkansas !!!
I understand how a dual clutch works but don't like them. I test drove the 2024 vw Taos 4motion with the dual clutch. The transmission felt like it was controlled by someone who has never driven a manual..... Over revved constantly and slipped the clutch for way too long.
Andrea found a “hack” to buy new clothes all the time (to match the cars) 😂. At least Zack is getting spaghetti and meatballs 🤷🏻♂️ Joking aside, you guys are great!

I though people weren’t buying this due to their engine issues. That’s why I passed up the last Taos. Not sure if they have fixed this issue.
they have
I like the Shamoo whale seats
Good review. I'm glad they changed transmissions and a hybrid would be a great option. How do you see this stacking up against the new ADX? also, the Seltos does come with a much longer warranty and lots of folks feel that VW is lease and return before repair bills.
VW made a lot of improvements except for the front. They made it less attractive.
the new front certainly blends in more with everything else.
I'm still leaning toward the CX-30.
Excellent choice but it's not spacious at all...
@@ibrahimquadri7121 I ended up getting a Civic Hybrid Hatch.
@sirdan357 you got the best car in the world my friend - wishing you lot of happy miles!
The terrible noisy road surface you ialked about is called Chip and Seal.
It is a chearper way to construct roads, we have thousand of miles of those miserable noisy roads in Arkansas !!!
guy didnt take his hand off the handle the whole time
They also fixed the engine issues, lost of blown head gaskets, mine being one of them with only 20,000km.
Give me chrome none of this black ;#&*- 😎🚗💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦🍻just saying
power liftgate - another unnecessary feature. Looks like a great performing mid-priced car. Good job VW
We need CD players! Lol
That's why I might never sell my 2015 VW Jetta.
Is the one change reliability?
I understand how a dual clutch works but don't like them. I test drove the 2024 vw Taos 4motion with the dual clutch. The transmission felt like it was controlled by someone who has never driven a manual..... Over revved constantly and slipped the clutch for way too long.
"Drink your Ovaltine"?
A crummy commercial !
Strong competition to Mitsubishi 2025 ECLIPSE CROSS
The song retains the name. ;)
Andrea found a “hack” to buy new clothes all the time (to match the cars) 😂. At least Zack is getting spaghetti and meatballs 🤷🏻♂️
Joking aside, you guys are great!
