Hey! I'm watching in reverse! I recently watched him clean this house out. Never saw what it originally looked like. Didn't even realize it was the same house until he got to the kitchen. Wow.
The mere fact you went through so much of the house with just one hand so we could see a much as possible shows how much you care for you subscribers. 💙
Oh, now I get it. Alex, you are just the nicest person around. I had watched the 2nd video first bc I’m behind on this new hoarded house videos. So many had said on part 2 and I agreed, that the family was letting you find the valuable stuff and keeping it, but that’s not what you said on this video. You said you were looking for cool stuff for the shop and hoping to find some valuable things for the family to sell to help recoup some money for them...ok, not exact words he said but what he mostly said. You’re the best Alex!

Since I’ve been watching Alex’s forays into hoarder homes I have been boxing up anything I’m not using and giving lots of stuff away. I’m finding things I never knew I had. Feels good to get it out to people who can use it.
Alex, this looks like the place we just picked. We ended up buying all the contents because there were just sooooo many '80s toys in the boxes. We took your advice from the live stream and sorted in piles of keep, donate, trash, and got it done in 3 weeks. We also recorded it all on our UA-cam channel as you suggested, check it out!
My mother in law was a hoarder. It was a amazing how much she had in a 1 bedroom apartment and 1 storage unit. Most of it was in boxes, so we moved it to our garage but never really wanted to take the time to tackle it. We took advantage of covid time sitting at home to finally go through it. We kept maybe 10%. I took us 3 trips to the dump, 2 to the recycle center and one to good will. Plus we filled up probably 200 trash bags. Now that we finished with her stuff we starting going through 30 years worth of accumulation of our own stuff in closets, spare bedroom etc. so our kids never have to deal with this type of issue.

I just stumbled upon your channel, I watched all the episodes of the two hoarded houses from a year ago . I’ve been binge watching all of your episodes! The ones of Hans was one of the most touching things I’ve ever watched! He is so deserving of the kindness people have shown him. I love what you and your family does, the cast of characters you work with makes the show! Thank you for sharing your life!!
I clean out estates for our weekly Auctions. I was lucky to be born in the auction business. I have found some amazing treasures this year also. My dad would turn me loose and tell me to do my thing when I was a kid. Now I am 56 and still in every barn, crawlspace, basement and attic in our State-line area. I don't think I could ever stop.
We have about a 500 sq foot basement to go through. My husband's grandmother's house. We actually live in the house and have for 10 years. The house looked very much like that one. Grandma didn't do banks so she had cash everywhere... In junk mail envelopes and catalogs, wrapped in fabric in newspapers... couldn't throw anything away without thoroughly checking it first. Took us a year to go through and get the house livable then renovate. Have only done 1/2 of the 1100 sq ft basement. We both worked full time. A couple years ago I became disabled and can't get to the basement on my own now.
Neat place and very packed! The lady of the house was a crochet addict. I saw so many crochet projects. It would take a year to go through this whole house and look at everything. I thought tea cup sets were very collectable. How in the world did anyone even have room to live in that house! After I watch a video such as this I always sort through my saved items and dispose of some of them lol
I liked the 1973 juke box quarter with the red paint still on it. For the younger people, they used to paint quarters red and those were the "house" quarters that bartenders would put in the juke box when no one else was playing it. When the company who owned the juke box came to collect the money, the red quarters would go back to the place.
thinking of your painting in your home by dining table... fascinating, restful, and energizing all at the same time, love it.... paint one for your shop on the wall that says it all... yes, even if it goes nailed up on the ceiling if no room on a wall
Dear Mr. Archbold. 👍👌👏 Yes, yes, yes! Please buy the whole house, Sir. It could/would definitely be another fantastic series! Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you.
That old sewing machine brought back memories. I grew up with my mum's Singer treadle residing in the front hall of our old war time house. Loved playing with the treadle and wheel.
It looks to me they had a clothing business or shop at one time and that was thier stock in the basement Vintage clothing is very popular and valuable Thank you Alex hope the dust didn't get to you to much xx
After watching my mom hoard every greeting card and photo she ever got (plus more), I developed a habit of clearing out accumulated items regularly. I have 3 or 4 spots where papers/stuff can pile up, when it gets too high (a few inches for paper, 1-2 feet for clothes) I ATTACK IT!!! Bills/financials/papers/books - clear out once per quarter or year (shred or recycle); clothes/shoes/knickknacks/jewelry - I have a bag in the corner for the thrift store that I add to as I decide I am done with something. Go through one drawer per week until you have hit them all. Then take a break and start over!! Oh so much fun!!
My wife is from Latin America. Even after twenty years in the U.S., she's still amazed at the amount of "stuff" we "Northerners" accumulate. When our daughter outgrew her baby and toddler clothes, I brought a huge bag of them to friends in South America. Those clothes probably made the rounds of a dozen kids (or more) by now. Everything was used; nothing was wasted.
And I said that after being inside a barn on the family farm for about two minutes, at which point I found a STACK of EMPTY cereal boxes with the empty bags in them
I guess he does as he bought it all lol. What is he gonna do with it all. Just too much to sort. The old vintage clothes would have to be dry cleaned to bring any $. Other things would have to be really cleaned up for resale. Likely mice and who knows what else has been crawling around the stuff.
Imagine having a camera strapped to your head or chest in a situation like this. It would be like having two hands to work with and stop dropping things.
"It seems like people who hoard hoard clothing" You would be correct. My ex was a hoarder and when I packed his stuff up after he left 8 years ago, there was 300 gallons of clothing. That's ten 30-gallon trash bags full of clothing, many with the tags still attached! And this was all from a tiny 2-br apartment and all he managed to save from his previous divorce. He had this fear when he bought things that they'd wear out and he wouldn't be able to find them again, so he'd buy 2-3 of the same exact shirt, etc., and then just store them in piles or in the closet. But he'd never wear out the first one. The pile of clothes in the bathroom was so huge, it didn't echo anymore. I only tolerated it at the time because my mother had been a hoarder when I was growing up. It's a strange disease and I'm very happy to say I don't live the same way. Just finished doing the Konmari method on my place and I've never been happier!
The funny part was he was so emotionally dysfunctional, he had this pattern of blowing up his life and running away over and over. So when he blew it up with me and ran away, he left me in charge of getting his stuff out of the apartment. Abandoned everything. As much work as it was, it was actually convenient, because when he showed up a month later with a U-Haul to get it all, I didn't have to let him in. I just pointed him in the direction of the storage unit and said "Have fun!" The funny part of the story is that he grossly misjudged how much crap he had, and the van he'd rented was comically too small for the load. He and his buddy (translated: husband of the woman he was now grifting) literally spent all night trying to puzzle-piece it all in and they eventually had to leave some stuff behind for me to throw out. It was good for a chuckle. I didn't mind taking his 3-ft high Captain Morgan statue to the dumpster. 😂
My mom hoarded fabric and miniatures. I found 8 paper boxes full of miniatures. Doesn't sound like a lot until you realize things were smaller than Barbie size.
@@m0L3ify My ex was a bit like that as well, but less specific about things he'd hoard. He'd go through stages with different hobbies and just become totally obsessive about that hobby. I finally convinced him to get help and he got a diagnosis and some good therapy, but he blamed me for everything that went wrong and would never go to couples therapy. Somehow, he connected the fact that because I pushed him to get help, his diagnosis was my fault. The marriage didn't survive, but he's doing a lot better now and has a new lady who seems much better suited to him (read *younger*) and seems much happier and more functional, apart from the fact that he took early retirement and decided to not work anymore. I guess now nothing gets in the way of his hobbies, including his children.
I know I'm a hoarder, but I'm so glad I haven't reached this level. Time to clean... someday. I admit I wanted to see the wax seal (one of my "problems"). Although people like Mont Blanc and its bird splat, there are a lot of other vintage pens that would bring a better price, surprisingly. Too bad you can't find a way to be there as things are cleared out. Glad you wore a mask. More than a few of those handmade sweaters were catching my eye.
Am watching this now that I've seen the rest of this series, Alexander saying "wouldn't it be good to find a Montblanc pen" made me smile.... it's now one of the only things he's kept
I understand, and appreciate the need to stay within a budget. However, I would LOVE for you to buy another hoarder's house and take us through it. That was the most enjoyable series I think I have watched on UA-cam.
You need to go back and re-check that first video. This is a well organized dream compared to the Potter's House! That place was so crazy with just piles and piles of old newspapers and like 2 tons of old clothes thrown all over the place. Alex was sick for months and months due to cleaning that place out.
Buy it!! What an interesting mix of magical items. I would love to see another total clean out and renovation. I know, I know, you're trying to be good and stay within a budget, but oh!!! How cool would that be to explore every nook and cranny!!
I agree, especially after I just got one for hubby and he was making nice vids in a day! The chest harness is perfect for keeping camera facing forward and the head strap for keeping it looking where you are facing. And amazing picture quality!
Omg I can’t believe people live like this ,I would never leave my home like a state for people to clear when I go ,but in saying that, people do collect ,an hoard we are all different ,an that’s a good thing ,I wouldn’t know where to start .Alex your so used to this ,great find lv Ann
I would rent an abandoned department store, bring everything out and start sorting and selling online and on site. There is probably enough stock there to keep you and a partner in business for a long time. I loved your Potter House series! I love your channel!
With your antique store, and the expansion project in the works plus everything else going on, I can understand why you didn't make an offer on the whole house. Its fun sharing in the progress of you and Melissa's projects and endeavors! :)
A lot of that jewelry was vintage but maybe not antique. I would happily organize a sale for the family it would be so much fun going through and organizing all of that stuff
Inspires me just to box stuff up and take them to Good Will. But . . . I used to look at these situations and just shake my head. Hurt my knees a couple of years ago, and it is amazing how things can just flat pile up when I can't clean and put things up. I am not a compulsive shopper, but just keep things in place is so important. Hope you find treasures!
Hey from Ottawa- if you go back, those creepy dog and rabbit figurines are SylvaC and the bulldogs are worth about $100 a pop. The Chanel powderpuff in the bathroom-check it out too.
I know vintage fabric especially lace and trim is highly sought after. Sewing supplies like threads and needles are also little treasures because the quality now is crap
@@lovecatspiracy buttons do not necessarily give a good return unless they are marked, in good condition, glass buttons without cracks and with paint still attached, metal buttons without rust etc. And early plastics that have not began to erode. Believe me you have to go through tons of buttons to find a gem. Some carded buttons will also give a good return. Just because a thing is old does not mean it will demand a high price.....that is why most collectors say buy it because you love it and not because you believe you have a treasure......lots of disappointment in purchasing for monetary gain.
Don't forget that vintage perfume bottles can be worth money and so can empty old vintage jewelry boxes can be worth money..I would love to go threw that house. So sad it got to that state. I am sure the elderly person could not clean and take care of it any longer .I am 70 now myself and it is hard for me to do laundry and make my bed but I keep going..What fun to discover treasures long forgotten.. tomorrow I think I will get my grandaughter to help me go through some of my totes..for some reason I now want to start organizing ...I have to much stuff myself .lol..oh my gosh I about died laughing when u said u fell in a hole..be safe ..
Yes, good idea to start now and get younger people to help. You can tell them the stories of everything you find, what fun. I thought this place was quite well organised, if cluttered. Everything was put away in boxes etc, not just one big pile of junk on the floors.
I know that you know that the retro clothing in resale, is worth potential thousands, let alone what else is lying about and hidden. The only issue of course, would be it's turn around, which although lucrative, especially online, would be time and space consuming. It would be very difficult to walk away from such an opportunity, but equally difficult to manage the process of dispensing with it. So, I applaud you for allowing your head to prevail over your heart in what I'm sure was a tough decision to make.
She's one heck of a collector!! Gotta hand it to her! She has some great clothing and bagged it well lol I think of the nursing homes I have seen and the women there would flip if they got even one of the handkerchiefs or jewelry boxes with a few trinkets in them. The women that had those jewelry boxes are in their mid 80s right now if they are still alive. I know because my Mama and Aunt had some just like them. The cedar boxes were popular too.
This time he was forced to have a mask on :P Remember Potter's House when there were comments on WEAR A MASK! WEAR GLOVES! I would be wearing goggles - all that dust. :P
The head mount if used well feels really natural. It's as if we are there in his head! I follow a channel of scraps and pellets man he used the head gear very well.
Hoarding } trying to fill a void that can never be filled with material things. This video is a sad reminder of the turmoil that can encompass lives of people who never seek out help. Great video.
Memories of Mary's house coming back. I hope you didn't get hurt or allergies act up. (Mask help) I like your boots. Should have got the Archie fabric for Josh. Great video!
Alex you should contact someone who has a vintage clothing Boutique and see if they want to come sift through any of those clothing items. That seems like half of what the house is hoarded with. I bet they could take most of it and clean out most of the house and save potential wardrobe treasures from being thrown away.
I know you have compassion for that family, knowing what they have to go through. Thanks for posting this on Black Friday. Perfect antidote for shopping addiction!

That place was so crazy with just piles and piles of old newspapers and like 2 tons of old clothes thrown all over the place. Alex was sick for months and months due to cleaning that place out.
@@Laura-mi3nv Came here to say exactly this. No way this is anywhere nearly as bad as Potter’s house.
@@LessThanThree76 ahhhhhh, but remember the amazing pottery he found😍
Wow. Very overwhelming. I feel a bit stressed watching it but I'm still watching it. Ha ha
Please do a part 2 or even part 3 I find these videos fascinating
Buy it!! What an interesting mix of magical items. I would love to see another total clean out and renovation. I know, I know, you're trying to be good and stay within a budget, but oh!!! How cool would that be to explore every nook and cranny!!
Seriously, Alex, you need a go pro so you can use both hands. Enjoyed your pick! For once forced masks are beneficial with lots of dust.
I agree, especially after I just got one for hubby and he was making nice vids in a day! The chest harness is perfect for keeping camera facing forward and the head strap for keeping it looking where you are facing. And amazing picture quality!
A go pro would make things so must easier for you Alexander. 😁
I love that carnival glass.
I love these hoarder picking videos ! Reminds me of the potter house
Does anyone else want to be able to make Alex look at what you want to see? Lol
Yeah, LOL!!
Hahahahaha. I kept tipping my head trying to see something he didn’t.
A go pro would be helpful I think.
@@beckerickson8034 people have mentioned that and Alex prefers to do it holding the camera. I couldn’t do all that one-handed, for sure.
I am yelling Alex! Grab the beautiful old embroidered linens... and the baby croc, horn ship, cool old cushions and pillows...😆
Hey from Ottawa- if you go back, those creepy dog and rabbit figurines are SylvaC and the bulldogs are worth about $100 a pop. The Chanel powderpuff in the bathroom-check it out too.
That vase looks intetesting, same with the little statue!
That sewing room is amazing. I know of so many makers who would love to go through that material. Here's hoping some of it is in good condition.
That house could keep a Goodwill store stocked for a few years lol
Dale Riccetti -- What the Goodwill thrift store rejects can be taken to a Salvation Army store and keep it also going for a few years.
This house could make a fortune for an online seller.
If it was dry cleaned as stores don't want to sell musty and moldy smelling things. Too much work. Even books will start to smell or rot.
I enjoy the music to your intro. I loved the vase in that little room full of records. It was next to the lamp
Mary's family wanted to level her old house. but you were determined to go through the whole place.
Love the 50's vintage house
all those animals are carlton ware , very collectable
Lawdy!! I felt knackered just watching! lol
I know vintage fabric especially lace and trim is highly sought after. Sewing supplies like threads and needles are also little treasures because the quality now is crap
And old buttons go for quite a bit.
Unfortunately older fabrics and laces can deteriorate in bad conditions or just age!
@@LynnTaylorProctor buttons are the serious return on investment in the vintage sewing hoard world! I want them all
@@lovecatspiracy buttons do not necessarily give a good return unless they are marked, in good condition, glass buttons without cracks and with paint still attached, metal buttons without rust etc.
All those vintage buttons and fabrics...!
So dusty!!! It made me feel wheezy just watching this video 😆.
Hoarders houses always make me go through my house , room by room. Good for all of to see one.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎄🎄🎄
This would be fun as a live stream. “Hey, look over there! That red thing!” or “What is that silvery thing under your foot?”
Yeah, i kept wanting to talk to him through the whole thing!
Oooo good idea!
My mother was a hoarder. After helping my stepfather with her mess, I've become super vigilant about organizing the stuff I do keep!
OMG what an awesome find! Take me with you next time! I want just about everything...
could start my own op shop just from that house alone lol lol. Next time my son tells me I am a hoarder I am going to show him this video lol
Yay a hoarder house! Ugh a hoarder house😂!
The dust was giving me a headache and I wasn't even there!
I was waiting for a bunch of comments about the “orbs” in the video!😂
@@jackandpiper it was like a better version of ghosthunters for real hahahaha
One benefit of the pandemic surely is having masks always on hand for keeping dust out of your lungs while raiding a good hoarder house 😁
@@jackandpiper Yes, I said "ORBS!" 🤣🤣🤣
This time he was forced to have a mask on :P Remember Potter's House when there were comments on WEAR A MASK! WEAR GLOVES! I would be wearing goggles - all that dust. :P
I saw you and your sister on live I’m so glad for you both God bless you all. From Virginia this is Willie’s woodboogers garage
Alex you need a gopro and a a head mount. Its a life changer.
Cant mess the hair,lol
Or a chest mount 🤔
@@koamountainranch2868 haha
I agree
The head mount if used well feels really natural. It's as if we are there in his head! I follow a channel of scraps and pellets man he used the head gear very well.
Hoarding } trying to fill a void that can never be filled with material things. This video is a sad reminder of the turmoil that can encompass lives of people who never seek out help. Great video.
In the tiny music room there is a bright pink and green vase. If it’s Moorcroft it could be worth a lot of money.
I too thought it looked like moorcroft. Gorgeous. Finding a moorcroft in the wild is one big goal for me. If I did find one I'd probably pass out!
That was my first thought that it was Moorcroft as well!
I did, too. I kept waiting for Alex to pick it up.
Yes looked like a quality vase
10:41 this one?
I love hoarder house treasure hunts.... you gunna buy this one 😆
Memories of Mary's house coming back. I hope you didn't get hurt or allergies act up. (Mask help) I like your boots. Should have got the Archie fabric for Josh. Great video!
I'm seeing all that stuff floating in the air and I'm glad that you have your face covered!
Love the hankies and the clip on earring :)
The hankies and the tine they were in appealed to me.
I luv the comments here from folks who want to go through all that stuff. I'm with you! We need to dig more, Alex! Go back! lol
This was amazingly organized for a hoarded house. They must have been ok in the past, but some people begin to hoard in old age.
Thank you for taking us, Alex! 🤗
Alex you should contact someone who has a vintage clothing Boutique and see if they want to come sift through any of those clothing items. That seems like half of what the house is hoarded with. I bet they could take most of it and clean out most of the house and save potential wardrobe treasures from being thrown away.
I do hope someone who appreciates clothing will work with these people. I’m sure there is a ton of clothes theater groups would go crazy for
Awesome place, what a steal! I keep wiping my nose from the dust,,,,lol
