KAWR/Karwar -- YPR/Yesvantpur Junction
The Yesvantpur - Karwar Express is an express train belonging to South Western Railway zone that runs between Yesvantpur Junction and Karwar in India. It is currently being operated with 16515/16516 train numbers on tri-weekly basis.
The 16515/Yesvantpur - Karwar Express has averages speed of 39 km/hr and covers 610 km in 15h 50m. The 16516/Karwar - Yesvantpur Express has averages speed of 41 km/hr and covers 610 km in 15h.
Both trains are hauled by a Krishnarajapuram Loco Shed based WDM 3A diesel locomotive from Yesvantpur to Karwar , Twin brakers are attached and detached between Sakleshpur and Subhramanya Road station and vice versa
Train Reverses its direction 1 times at Mangalore Junction.
The train has standard LHB rakes with a max speed of 160 kmph. The train consist of 14 coaches :

5 General Unreserved
2 EOG Rake

Shiradi is a village on NH-48 (NH-75 at present) which runs from Mangalore to Bangalore. The village is situated in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. The nearest town is Nelyadi which is at a distance of approximately 15 km. The ghat section of Western ghats through which NH-48 passes is called Shiradi Ghat.
Once you reach Shiradi, you need to travel a few hundred meters where you reach a bridge taking right there you need to start trekking to reach the spot "Ombathhu Gudda". Gundya, Kempuhole, Maranahalli, Kadamane tea estate, Heggadde, Donigal and Manjarabad Fort are the places located on the Shiradi Ghat. Aramane Betta, Venkatagiri, Mugilagiri, Are Betta and Yedakumeri are the popular trekking spots.
Shiradi. Shirady ghat connects the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada with the Hassan district. The National highway 75 (Old NH-48) road starts from the seaport city of Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada district and connects to Karnataka state capital Bengaluru.
The Western Ghats lie inbetween coastal plains adjoining the Arabian Sea and the Deccan Plateau.
The stretch of the National Highway passing through the Shiraadi Ghat is poorly maintained according to sources. It was upgraded by the National Highways Authority of India at a cost of ₹ 26 crore. Elephants have also been sighted on the road.[4][5] In 2012, the Government of Karnataka sought help from the Japanese government to bore a tunnel through the ghat.[6] Later, the State Government released money to keep the road motorable during rains.
Shiradi Ghat will have a tunnel bypass road, the construction project will begin before December 2016. The proposed tunnel bypass road is expected to be 29 km and provides seamless travel through the ghat stretch with 6 tunnels and 10 bridges. The new project costing Rs. 12,000 crore would be executed with financial assistance from the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA).

Thanks for posting this informative video. The section from Subramanya Road to Saklespur is indeed scenic along with the bridges and tunnels.
The sight of the mountains of the western ghats is only seen from the left side of the train. This has somehow been missed. Also the scenic railway stations on the ghats, especially Yedekumeri seem to have been missed out.

Some 15yrs back we friends boarded this train from ypr n got down at Sakaleshpur n started walking on tracks for trekking to subramanya..it's very cold n dark by then n we dared it without knowing depth of bridge n all.we almost came near to subramanya by time 5pm n those track repair workrs said dangerous to go further as elephants walk on track.so v by foot reached nearby village n from there in bus to kukke..after few years many went missing in same route n govt banned trekking by foot on these track.. wonderfull never ever forget that trip..while crossing tunnels v made fire n walked holding fire wood in hand fearing v may face off with elephant r bear r any wild animals luckily didn't find any 1..
