@@richardmorris7063 You don’t see why there’s a debate maybe because you’re too old and your eyes don’t work properly. @1:17 looks like the white spikes crossed the first to me

I been watching 100 metters a long time. This was by far the best and the closest between all 7 runners in a long time. They won gold. It took some hard work and pain to get there. Blood sswet, and tears. The hearts ❤ of real champions. For there countries. Congratulations to them all.
According to the IAAF International Technical Official rule book for Track and Field, as of 1922, the torso defined the finish of a runner, but the whole body must still cross the line to be considered a finish. So this has been a rule for the past 100+ yrs.
In field events and some other events like swimming they give out multiple medals. I kind of wish they could have done that here. These athletes put on the best sprint show ever.
It was a world record for every place starting from 4th through 8th. No 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th place finisher in tge entire 100 meter history has run faster.
People react to it as if it were a street race whereas the first foot across the line wins but in pro competition its the torso...Noah got it with the torso lean. I don't know if they teach it in other countries but it's a fundamental for American athletes.
No need for chip technology in vests. As the camera operates so fast already, allowing photo finishes to be judged to the thousands of a second. The photo finish can also be magnified if needed. It is already accurate enough to determine not just who has actually placed first, but an actual dead heat. Which has happened in the past, when both athletes are given the same time. Even down to the thousands of a second.
Didn't they used to have a thread or some banner ribbon or something against which these runners were supposed crash their chests into?? Or is it only in long distance races??
Good afternoon. Thank you for sharing this video. I went in settings and slowed the video using playback feed 0.25. Noah indeed is Gold and Thompson Silver. Noah's torso crossed first.
Need to check if the finish line was perfectly parallel to the youtube screen border and there were no tilts and angles (as they do in football VAR to fix matches)
The crossing of the torso is what wins the race. Noah’s torso (chest, abdomen, shoulders and back) crossed before. Not a foot not a head but a torso. At 1:27 time you can see Noah had his torso across first
I remembered when I was a young kid in the 80s, I crossed the line first with my foot but did not win, I cried as I did not understood the rules. I quit the sport school. Silly me😂
