I'm thinking about purchasing a Woma Python to keep as a pet. Beautiful Woma Python.

Go for it! They are an amazing species. You won't regret the purchase. Handle it alot while it's small and it should be a really easy going animal as an adult.

I’ve looked at womas before and would love to get one some day. This video really makes me want one. Lol
I have so many projects started, I need to see those through before I add any more species. For now.

That's one of the reason's I chose to consolidate my Ball Python projects, to open up room for other species. I really enjoy the Womas way more than I thought I was going to when I first got them. They are one of those species that I see myself always having one of around even if I were to ever get out of the breeding aspect of the hobby. They are fun to handle.

@@straightblastpythons I only have a few ball python projects, 2 boas, and some corn snakes. I'm 2 years away from any breeding. The projects underway currently are replacing our deck and redoing the floors in the house. 😅

@@heatherb2762 Those are important projects too. We are working on finishing out our basement, renovation is definitely not cheap!

Subbed! I'm also wanting to get a collection of strictly pythons. Womas are on my list but I'm going with carpets first. Already got a jungle on the way

I picked up a pair of Albino Darwin Carpet Pythons not long ago myself. Carpets are another one that I have found myself getting more and more into. The intelligence they display is on a totally different level from Womas or Balls.

I've been looking into what species to get next as a pet, and I've narrowed it down to a Woma or the Irian Jaya Carpet Python. Do they hide all day or spend time outside of hides? Do they like to climb or spend most of their time on the ground?

    • @straightblastpythons

They are a terrestrial snake, so while they will climb some they are mainly ground dwellers. Set up in a nice display enclosure they will use space that's given, however they aren't going to be climbing and perching like a carpet python will. They are quite active though and roam around a good bit, much more active than a ball python. I personally think the carpet python will be a better display animal if that's what you are looking for but the Woma would be more handleable in my opinion. Asl for reference the Irian Jaya Carpet Python is also and more correctly known as a Papuan Carpet Python. They are one in the same just so you know for your research. They were semi recently renamed to my understanding. I would also suggest the Darwin and Jungle Carpet Pythons as options. They are all similar care wise and have slightly different color pallets.

@straightblastpythons That's good to know, because I wanted a handable snake for the whole family, not a display snake. So the Woma sounds better. As far as the Carpet, I have heard of it being called that other name as well as it being called the "New Guinea" carpet python, but the reasons I chose this one over the Jungle is because the Jungle gets slightly bigger and I liked the smaller size of the Irian jaya

@@FitHomeFam Either one can be handled with a bit of work but neither of them will be as easy or calm as a ball python right off the back. Either species will need a bit of handling to get them to calm down. Starting them off with handling when there young is a big advantage. I do still think that the Woma would be easier for children than a Carpet due to size and more aloof personalities, but that will vary animal to animal. Either can be worked with. I would also recommend a Spotted Python for something fairly easy to handle for the whole family.
