Hey, @Black66 I have a doodlebug and I bought the same brake but whenever I hit the brakes the caliper moves in such a way that the caliper itself (not just the pads) is getting chewed up real bad. Just wondering if you have any tips on how to stop the caliper from moving around since it has a system on it that makes it move.
@@warzone7571 My issue was that the idle was set too high, so when I was rolling and hit the brake, the caliper was taking too much load, I turned my idle down to where the tire doesn't spin at all, then put one washer on each side of the mount between the frame and the mounting part of the caliper. Hope this helps, I spent months figuring this one out.
@@mythicalcircle by any chance do you know the size of the axle from the front wheel on a doodlebug db30 I just upgraded to a go powersports suspension and axle in to short?
I just put a hydraulic disc brake on my MURRAY "Track 2", replaced the band-brake without any cutting or welding by making a bolt-on caliper bracket. NOT a 10-minute job but I ended up with total adjustability. The disc mounted where the drum was, used coupling nuts for stand-offs. Cost=$80
Black66 where did you get those breaks? I'm trying to find some that work with a 212 and that's exactly what I need for my Baja racer minibike. Please send the link that would be greatly appreciated 👍😌

My doodlebug has a Tillotson 212 with just an exhaust and I did the zip tie trick and adjusted the linkage to get it up to about 45mph. I ran the same disc and brake as you and it broke in half on me. Should I just be more gentle on the brakes or am I doing something wrong 😂
I just bought a hydraulic brake for my doodlebug. But i apparently bought the wrong one. The spacing for the mounting holes are off and it seems like there wouldnt be enough clearance between the brake and the tire if i did install it. Is there anyway i could make it work or will i need to buy a whole new brake?

How does it compare when you think about how hard it is to pull the lever. I’m thinking it would be a good option for my daughters doodle bug if it’s easier for her to pull back she’s 9 and I’m in the process for removing the governor we got a header and a 19mm Mikuni style carburetor from eBay

That's great! I have two bikes just like that and have the same brake kits yet to install on both of them. That was useful, thanks. You don't happen to recall what size bolts you mounted it with?
Quick question I just bought a predator 212 hooked it up on my mini bike just like yours and when I turn it on the shaft is moving without touching the throttle trying to figure it out why
I've actually had problems with the guide pins bending under braking stress. I finally said to hell with it and got two piston Chinese atv caliper and master cylinder and made it work I now have a foot brake that is solid and will stop a mack truck..
@@ThePhatGuy1776 The small padded brakes work good for lite weight riders. They are not designed for high speed riding or heavy riders. If you are not a smaller rider I wouldn't recommend them.
